He's wrong. He's clearly not a developer and the simulator is there for convenience, nowhere near something as a replacement. It doesn't even use the same APIs as iOS.
Thank you very much for the info, I clearly do not have any experience as a developper, I only use my Macbook (Intel) and iPad Pro for drawing, video editting or 3d modelling. :) And this is the reason I would have prefered the opposite, I mean, Mac apps running on iPad Pro rather than the iPad apps running on Mac. But well, with these new changes, hopefully may be porting certain mac apps, even lite versions, for iOS could be easier.

They left off one really big thing. It's not 'Any' app. Developers can opt out of having their iOS apps from being on the Mac. So all of this is temporary at best. Especially for apps for the streaming services and those apps that have versions for both iOS and macOS.

and you know that because?
It works - your comments is just pure speculation based on nothing

I saved off old 32-bit iOS apps. I wonder if those will run on the new Macs. For example, Galaga, Zombie Swipeout, Chopper, ParaPanic, DoodleBlast, Archangel, Mortal Kombat, Star Trek, Plant Bloom, Rollercoaster Rush New York, Touch Hockey, Midway Arcade, Catcha Mouse, DoodleArmy, Laser Wars, Jaws Revenge. No longer available for iOS today.

If you run IG for your business - as I (have to) do - being able to upload properly edited images directly from the Mac and writing text on a proper keyboard is really advantageous - no need to airdrop images to the phone, no need to clumsily type longer text on the tiny touchscreen. Since, as you mentioned, IG only has an iPhone app which does not autorotate on an iPad, even the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard is not real option.

This is a corner case I agree, but I guess many of us, particularly those 'influencers', would rejoice about this new possibility.

I thought people could pair a Bluetooth keyboard to an iPhone, or iPad. Did Apple kill that capability somewhere?

Tired of typing on the screen keyboard? Don't...

And what about old ipa files backed up with older backups? Using old iTunes is not possible as I guess as it would not support new iOS versions. But could be possible with old phones if atill in use.

I hate the idea of having to care for charging another object. Hence the Magic Keyboard is such an elegant solution. Just that IG crippled its own app.

Oh no!
Now Cultured Code can’t charge us $50 for a Mac app (Things) that’s identical to the $10 iOS app!
This is seriously such crap. I bought the iPad app. It's IDENTICAL to the iPad app. I'm gonna enjoy using this and shove it in their face they're not getting more money for me. Stupid greedy company. You make the same app for 3 devices. I'd gladly pay once but I'm not doing for all my devices.

Yeah, I know. The first time I did a keyboard with an iPad, I felt so foolish. (Obviously I wasn't meant for Windows)

I did use it on an iPhone that i couldn't get the wifi password right the four times I tried. I just had to use it to save any shred of dignity that I might have had at that point.

Netflix iOS app crashes on launch anyway on my M1 MacBook Air. You can run the backed up .IPA but it doesn't mean that it will actually run.

Curious question.. will any of these apps copied to your M1 Mac with iMazing/Apple Configurator update via the Mac App Store?
I’ve been wondering this as well. If they’re you’re own purchased apps/ipa files, they’re all coming from the same source, right? Or could you just get the updated .ipa file and install again over the other one?

I’m also wondering about iOS apps that utilize an iCloud folder; would those apps installed on the Mac also utilize those same iCloud folders?

It think it should have been noticed, the wording "Intel" and "iPhone & iPad apps" will only appear if your running on M1 to begin with.

Although obvious.

I just verified (for example) the Facebook iOS app version on my iPhone/iPad and on my Mac and they are the same. I will see what happens when an update appears on the other devices.

only apps I'm using everyday is Apollo and a few sport apps it's nice to have but likely will use the main ones on my iPhone or iPad in fairness.

Really like iMazing tried this for Prompt which works great on my M1 Air. They can also catch fire for their licensing. You have to buy a new license for each phone. So if you’re on the upgrade program you buy the software every two years (you get two licenses). So it’s basically subscription model in disguise.
I did not realise that. Very cleaver. Do you know how the updating of an iOS app will take place, if you have installed via imazing ?

Is this still working for anyone? When I try to launch apps I exported from iMazing I see FairPlay error logs in my console.

The First iOS/iPadOS App I side loaded from my iPad via iMazing was the Channels app. It's worked fine. The other day via their twitter account, they said that everything's going fine with the app on M1 Macs, and that they were planning on releasing it to the Mac App Store. Now that it's there, I see it as "Open" in the Mac App Store instead of "Get" or even the Download iCloud icon.. I'm assuming that I'll now get any forthcoming updates for it, too. Although I'm still not 100% sure how that'd work.

Turns out my issue was that I had SIP (System Integrity Protection) disabled due to some troubleshooting Apple support was helping me with on my M1 MacBook Air. I re-enabled it and all is good again.

I wanted to use iMazing to transfer some apps to my new MacBook Air M1, but I'm really put off by iMazing requiring your AppleID login information.

I was following the Configurator 2 method up to the part where you have to retrieve the .ipa file from "~/Library/Group\ Containers/K36BKF7T3D.group.com.apple.configurator/Library/Caches/Assets/TemporaryItems/MobileApps/"

I couldn't find this path on my MacBook Air. is there a setting or something else preventing me from seeing this in Finder?
