Will we need to buy the full version of iMazing or nah?
Works in trial mode. So you’d have to if you wanted to keep doing it. There is a free method linked but it’s a little more involved.

I’m surprised there hasn’t been more info about running iOS apps on a Mac. How does it work without a touchscreen?

I know the trackpad on the laptops probably works as a touchscreen substitute, but the Mac Mini doesn’t necessarily have a trackpad.

I am curious if anyone has installed an iOS soft synth app on an M1 Mac and if it recognizes an audio/MIDI interface connected to an M1 Mac.

WhatsApp has a Mac app why would you want the iOS version on your computer when you have an optimized app available in the Mac App Store?
That Mac app is borderline useless. Requires the phone app to be running for it to work and always forgets my login.
Glad none of my friends use WhatsApp except a few who are from countries where it's popular.

OWC rocks! use them all the time!
Got 2 Trash Can Mac Pro's I need to upgrade and repair.
You can buy Trash Can Mac Pro's Cheap! on eBay. They Look cool as heck! and give you Mac Pro performance.

Must be awkward for end users to run apps without touch input on M1 devices and a PITA for developers to port touch based apps to non-touch. Management decision fail.

Hello everyone!

I am curious about something, Could you please explain me what adventage does this have? I mean in which scenario? I mean, most of the apps that I use (I repeat, I use as someone else could use different apps where it could differentiate) is more complete on Mac OS, so why would I want to use an iOS App, especially made for touch input, on my Mac? Ok, Instagram App is not available on mac, so that could be interesting, but then again, Instagram does not work well neither on iPad as it loads the phone version, so I don't know.

I think it would have been more interesting, or let's say, equally interesting, to have the Mac OS Silicon Apps on iPad Pro / iPad, such as Affinity Publisher, Adobe Indesign, Rhinoceros, Keyshot..etc.

So, I explained my use case and thoughts, could You tell me now the use case where it is useful as I am genuinely curious? Well, on gaming part, it could be interesting, that I admit.

If you run IG for your business - as I (have to) do - being able to upload properly edited images directly from the Mac and writing text on a proper keyboard is really advantageous - no need to airdrop images to the phone, no need to clumsily type longer text on the tiny touchscreen. Since, as you mentioned, IG only has an iPhone app which does not autorotate on an iPad, even the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard is not real option.

This is a corner case I agree, but I guess many of us, particularly those 'influencers', would rejoice about this new possibility.

I imagine it works just like the iOS simulator which developers have been using for years. There’s no need for a touch screen. Mouse pointer works just fine.

Apple should have caught this. For those developers that didn't plan on allowing customers to install apps on macOS for free, it's costing them revenue. And that sucks.

No, it doesn't. The trouble with statements like this is that it only appears to be true and you get mobs behind you agreeing with you and then it's 100x more difficult to get facts out there that you statement is false.

Developers use a SIMULATOR to get things up and running. Limited multitouch is exceedingly cumbersome, not all iOS hardware/sensors are available, the performance profile is wrong, and, oh yeah, it's NOT TOUCH.

@mbosse , thank you very much for your answer. Yes for such case, I agree that it can be useful, true.

@TheWatchfulOne , yes the developpers I had not thought, it is an adventage too, thank you for your answer.

He's wrong. He's clearly not a developer and the simulator is there for convenience, nowhere near something as a replacement. It doesn't even use the same APIs as iOS.
