Does iOS Things work on the Mac? I know some companies aren’t allowing it. I don’t use it on the Mac much so can’t justify spending $50 for the Mac version. Would mainly use it to glance tasks or check off things I forgot to earlier.

Speaking of the sponsor, does anyone know if 4TB portable SSDs are likely to launch after virtual CES? Seems like we’ve been stuck at 2TB for a few years now and I need to upgrade!

They left off one really big thing. It's not 'Any' app. Developers can opt out of having their iOS apps from being on the Mac. So all of this is temporary at best. Especially for apps for the streaming services and those apps that have versions for both iOS and macOS.

I don't see a download button when I right click in iMazing. Anyone else having this issue? I see Uninstall, Backup, Restore, Install, Check for Updates.

edit: never mind. I was being dumb.

They can opt out of their apps being listed on the store for the Mac. If consumers decide to move apps over manually, why should developers have any say in the matter?

Developers can't unilaterally prevent users from running apps on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, specifically. Perhaps they could manually code some sort of startup check, but that's the developer's responsibility.

(This isn't to say Apple won't put a stop to this, but I'm not necessarily convinced that they will. It may well not be a mistake.)

I think they will put a stop to it. Otherwise what was the point of giving the developers the option of opting out. Also, they could implement some sort of check to the apps. It's not like that doesn't already happen. All in all apps like iMazing give me pause especially when they start asking for user IDs.

It's just not a good experience. I tried Apollo, and while neat, it does not compete with the browser version of reddit (which is saying a lot!).

Followed Apple Configurator 2 tutorial. Now I have Google Maps in ipad format and it can be resized to full screen. Downloading bunch of others...

This is too cool

Your an choose the number of device - they list on MacHeist, and you can currently get 3 devices for $25 or 5 devices for $30. License works on PC or Mac, and doesn't;t expire (though I doubt it includes version upgrades...).

I've purchased an iMazing 2 universal license for unlimited iOS devices on up to two computers during one of their Macheist promos for $20, back 18 months ago. Still going strong.
That I would buy in a heartbeat......

This was a good idea in theory, but the implementation has been a total disaster so far, and very unlike Apple.

I can't seem to find it anywhere, so keen to know if there has been anything said about installing tvOS apps on a M1 Mac?

So for instance - install the Plex tvOS app on a mac, and then use it on a TV through HDMI?

Apple did warn us that they wanted to turn their computers into larger versions of 'smart tablets', able to run the same apps, same data.

I'm conflicted. Unless Apple forks this idea, and keeps 'power computing' powerful, and not a coloured circus, they will lose market share and users. If macOS starts resembling a clown vomiting on the screen, Windows could end up eating more of Apple's lunch.

Or am I off base? How do people feel about having a MacBook Pro (iMac Pro?) look like a big iPad. With no drives, no external storage, it does seem like they are trying to merge the two device genres. It would be good for Apple. I feel bad for users. Wasn't Windows 8 an experiment in forcing people into a 'mobile OS environment'? That went well...

If you play a game, like mafia city, where the account is stored in the game when it launches, Is there a way with these new Macs or the ipa’s to be able to run 3 versions of the same app with different in app credentials.

currently I emulate android to do this via bluestacks, but it would be great to use the native iPhone versions
