Waiting for the MR post this is broken out of the box :( I see a few with the same issue as myself. Defaulted to off and not asking to "do not track" when switched to on (green)

So dudes will be pushed ads for mascara, diapers and arcade games now instead of beer, trucks and tools.

Maybe tracking is better
Before 14.5 I was still getting irrelevant ads. I mean im a 30yr old dude and got ads for breast pumps, dresses and ED pills (never once searched for any of those). 🤷‍♂️

No they can't just track you anyways if you say do not track with the IDFA. If you choose to not track the IDFA returns 0 so they can't track you with that ID and they can only ask once.

That being said, there is nothing to stop them from trying to come up with or use other basic menthols to track you.

I believe that IP address are going to become very important for tracking you and mobile providers will start to have a static IP address assigned to each phone and then offer your data to ad providers as a way to track you.
I have heard that there is no need for a VPN on a cellular connection but I have always been suspicious of that claim. At a minimum, the VPN encrypts the data so your cellular carrier can't read it. If you are right about mobile providers assigning static IP addresses (I don't know how easily they can do that) then that is all the more reason to leave your VPN on all the time.

But if it is off it should not ask. Do you mean like me you enabled it but still see no pop ups?

My was switched to off (toggle to the left) by default. When I turned it on (toggle to the right ) no apps ask to track or show up in the setting.

For those who have this toggle grayed out and are not able to toggle it back on, it seems to be a bug that first popped up in beta. Some people have had luck fixing it by signing out of iCloud and signing in again.

Oh no! The horror! How will you recover from this affront to your already fragile masculinity?!? Maybe large corporations should be able to sell my information so all the advertisers know I’m a mans man, because I can’t handle anyone thinking I’m…soft 🤢

It looks like the poisonous bastards who created Clubhouse can access access all the photos on a phone because in the profile pic settings they have access to the whole photos roll without asking permission.

It is meant to be off (no tracking) by default, from what I understand. After toggling it on, you need to redownload apps fresh to see the popups. Nothing is going to appear there just by toggling it on because everything has already been declined.

Edit: I think it's only off by default if you had prior tracking features off. Seems to vary. It respects whatever the prior setting was when you installed the 14.5 update and the 14.5 update isn't turning it on or off.

No read it again. It’s not supposed to be set to don’t ask by default and when I turn it to green or ask to track nothing asks.
I’m not sure what the default setting is, but either way I don’t get any pop ups.

What happened to the option to reset the IDFA? Not that it matters if you disable tracking, but why would they remove it?

Assigning Static IP's are something they could do very easily with IPv6. On a lot of mobile providers you technically only have a IPv6 address and IPv4 traffic is done through a tunnel with a shared IPv4 address. They could even assign you a large block of IPv6 address so to you it would look like you don't have a static address.

Using a VPN may not be 100% effective at not allowing tracking because your providers IP address is still assigned to the device.

I would guess its not supposed to be off by default or this lawsuit just got more interesting. The rest of what you said ill have to try but it makes not sense at all.

UPDATE: your redownload theory is not correct just removed FB restarted and reinstalled and still not ask not to track with the feature turned on (toggled to the right)

Mine shows greyed out, has happened on all betas, I searched for various solutions and nothing has worked, it’s only enabled once I sign out of iCloud. Has anyone experienced this?
I've also experienced this same issue. The iCloud sign out only worked temporarily and then it greyed out again.
