I have TLC as expected on my 6+ 128gb phone. No problems with rebooting. Hopefully fixed with iOS update.

yeah, im not running that script on my phone. nor paying 99c just to figure out if i have tlc/mlc

i have a 6+ 64gb. I dont suffer from random reboots and so i'm not going to worry about it. My only gripe is that i suffer from chrome/safari crashes fairly frequently, but i am positive that has to do with the 1gb ram limitation.

I have mlc at 85 mb/sec but didn't really matter since I wasn't having issues :p

My understanding is that:

16GB = All MLC
64GB = MLC or TLC
128GB = All TLC

If you have a 128GB in hand right now, it's TLC. The "updated" 64GB/128GB MLC only units won't hit the streets for awhile.

MLC is technically "better" than TLC but real world users won't notice a difference in day to day use (reboot/crash issues aside).

Anecdotally, TLC users may notice some slowdown or issues when their phones fill up (filling up 100+GB on their 128GB units).

I have a 128GB TLC iPhone 6 and no issues so far :)

you wont see any bit of slowdown in any real world application other than file transfer.

it's a myth. People didnt see it in the first gen of nand ssd's and they dont see it now.

Says i have MLC. I have suffered rare reboots but i think that was an iOS8 problem rather than a hardware one.

The app is fun but has zero reuse value.

anyone whose worried about real life performance read this:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6489/playing-with-op

cliffs: even at 100% full, you'll never see it until you do file transfers.

The speeds with 0%spare data do not reflect any changes in real life perception for normal computing.

Now, if you are compiling a database or doing library work where you will queue up thousands of random reads at a given moment, yes you will perceive it.

But in terms of what is capable on a phone, there is zero impact on 90% full vs 65% full

I have two TLC 64GB 6+, and I think they both run fantastic. No random reboots or anything either. I mean I've had boot loops because of jailbreaking, but nothing when stable.

I have an iPhone 6 128GB TLC and iPad Air 2 WiFi 128GB TLC. TLC is toshiba. Both are JailBroken on 8.1 and running sweet as. Only had 1 random reboot on the ipad air 2 and a "boot loop" issue with iphone 6 after setting new passcode (passcode issue) fixed using pangu restore (retain data/apps).

Anywho to check if you have TLC or MLC.
On your "iphone/ipad device" using "safari" visit the website: http://www.pgyer.com/tlccheck (don't need jailbreak its free) Click on the magnifying glass/green button to install app (safe to install). Should have TLCCheck app (safe/trust on first run) may load ads "Close down" will say TLC or MLC up the top can check other interesting info below. Have run on an ipad 4 128GB (not JB) its MLC.

All my devices are TLC. iPad and iPhone. Seeing some stability improvements since moving to 8.1.1 knock on wood.

Just checked my Iphone 6+64G and I have confirmed default-bits-per-cell = 2 MLC (newest) and my phone was bought on Launch day. I was #1 in my Apple store that friday morning :cool:

Bah. I'm torn. I've had a few reboots, but nothing majorly annoying yet. 128 GB. Definitely TLC.

Theory - A

Logically Apple has never cheaped out on parts, this year the demand is too high and they've dropped Samsung out of the picture completely for SoCs and NANDs.

Hynix and Toshiba can't produce the amount they need, so they've included SanDisk as one of their supply chains for the first time and in the past, I've never seen them on their list for anything.

The SanDisk TLC aren't performing well and we have our saga today.

It's all about the cash flow for Tim Cook, pleasing the customers and giving them what they want. In the backend, figure ways to reduce the cost for higher profits.
