You really make me not want to purchase it.

who cares what one person says, general consensus says 6 and 6 plus are blazing fast and one of the best performing if not best current performing smartphone on the market right now, my 6 plus on 8.1.2 absolutely flies and is buttery smooth

Assuming no crashes, would TLC be better since it has better read/write speeds?

TAKE THIS WITH A MASSIVE GRAIN OF SALT... but my perception having used both with identical apps & setups, with and without jailbreak, was that the TLC model was a bit faster. Again, that's 100% anecdotal, and biased to boot, since I already know that TLC it's theoretically faster. But the new MLC one does feel just a little slower. It's a LOT more reliable in many ways, though yes, it's crashed once already too. I'm rather sick of iOS 8 bugs, and I suspect that's what triggered the most recent issue.

The 64K question is are they going to replace my iphone (6+ 128GB) with a MLC Nand or is it going to be a TLC?

I'll be stunned if it's MLC, but I look forward to being proven wrong, for your sake. Again, at this point, there's zero actual evidence that Apple has stopped using TLC, and all the 128 GB phones were originally released with TLC. Somewhere between 1/2 - 2/3 of the 64 GB models have MLC.

I have 3 bits per memory cell, is that TLC memory (Worse memory)?

my phone overall is fantastic and is very fast and i dont suffer any slowdowns regardless, just curious

Change my phone on 12/21 and the new one is still a 6+ 128 GB ( drum roll please) TLC! So far no issues what so ever ! Smooth as silk. At this point don't care anymore, me Likey!
Happy New Year everyone !

2 iPad Airs here purchased in 2nd half of December. 128 gb and 64 gb. Both have TLC Flash.

My earlier iPad Air 1 which was 128 gb with MLC Flash started giving me BSODs on updating to iOS 8. Back then, the support asked me to get it replaced or downgrade back to 7.1.2 as downgrade window was still open. I sold that POS anyway.

But the point is even MLC Flash can have reboots and crashes. Wondering why some sites are automatically assuming that since you have TLC based Flash, your iDevice will constantly crash or BSOD out all the time!

Just checked mine but I'm not sure how to read this can you tell me if I have TLC or MLC by looking at this?

Please stop this paranoia: TLC aren't inherently worse.

It's an MLC .... What model?

If I buy a 64GB Plus today from an Apple store are they likely to be all MLC now?

My iPhone 6 64 Gb just bought (a week 48 so brand new) has TLC.

I got a Toshiba MLC iPhone 6 64GB Silver - Launch Day

Will be buying another IP6 64GB Space Grey this week ... no idea if that production week will have MLC.

Could it be the different manufacturers?

I had read that the 6 was made by both Foxcon and Pegatron, and the 6+ only by FoxCon.

It would be interesting to know why the difference if that is true...

Probably 60/40 chance MLC/TLC from what I'm reading. There is a lot of product in the pipeline. If Apple switched to MLC today on the 6+, it would probably still take weeks/months to see them in the wild.

Is that good? Sorry but I know nothing about MLC/TLC just came on here and was briefly reading about it.

I can't see where the write speeds are

In fact, Apple is now using only TLC NAND in 64 gb and 128 gb models.

MLC NAND is only in 16 gb models.

^^ check your manufacturing date.

Both my iPads were manufactured in mid December. Both have TLC.

I am not complaining as I see no difference in anything. Syncing might possibly be slower but I cannot be sure about that as I sold my 128 gb MLC Air 1.

You don't need the read/write speeds in this case; default bits per cell = 2, which means MLC. What you've posted is a report queried on the actual hardware, not a performance test. You probably need a different app if you want actual speeds, but honestly they don't really matter. You already know what you have.

And in response to others, yes, MLC NAND can also blue screen or fail entirely. It's not a miracle cure, any more than TLC is a automatic death sentence for the phone. Unless you're experiencing problems (again, most people aren't!), what type of NAND your phone has probably isn't something to be concerned about.

Doesn't seem like that's the case at least for 64 GB phones. Pretty much still as it was before.

Some of the phones containing TLC have been crashing and rebooting consistently - that's what I've read.

That's not related to TLC technology, but a wrong batch of NAND.
The most common SSD units on the market, Samsung 840 series, are TLC. FAST AND RELIABLE.

MY 64 Gb made in December uses TLC.

While mine uses MLC (as well as some other ones I've seen people post about recently). So it seems that it hasn't really changed--some 64 GB use TLC while others use MLC, as was the case before.
