While mine uses MLC (as well as some other ones I've seen people post about recently). So it seems that it hasn't really changed--some 64 GB use TLC while others use MLC, as was the case before.
Which week is yours ? Mine is 48

49 for mine.
I sold my old TLC 128 and bought a week 49 64 GB. It's also got TLC.
Argh.
I had major crash issues by the time I got rid of my 128. I guess I'll keep returning this 64 until I get one with MLC. I dunno yet.
Those rumors were false and baseless. Apple is still using TLC NAND, also on 64 Gb models, even in the week 48-49-50 production batches.Did you sell your 128 for this reason? which manufacturer do you have? Week 49, I'd think they'd stop putting TLC in 64 by now if that were article were true that they're replacing TLC with MLC especially with conflicting rumor Samsung will be filling in TLC supply
I have a Toshiba TLC in my 6+ 64.
I was bummed to learn its TLC not MLC, but I haven't had any BSOD or boot loops. Occasional app crashes here and there but for the most part solid and I'd attribute that to apps not the phone. I had something where it was respringing about once a week, usually killing an app. But I *think* it might have been related to a bad tweak, Hide Labels, that removes icon labels from everything including app switcher. using springtomize only now instead of with it and it keeps labels even removing it from icons on homescreen, folders, etc.
For the most part, no issues. I have 50 tweaks installed too haha so its hard to narrow down. I'd think if it were hardware, it would exhibit real pains on a daily basis.
And I'm really reluctant to play this game over rumors (even though I'm OCD and it now makes me question things since iOS 8 has got its share of bugs, but I swear I had a hardware issue on iPhone 5 with iOS 6 stock where slide to take photo would cause intermittent respringing. happened to be software, multiple iPhone 5's i had did it when i swore that was weird, considering this seems slightly reproducible on a hit or miss mostly miss basis seems to be pointing to that-- gone are the days where iOS is as tight of an experience as it used to be tweaks or not.. all the more reason to jailbreak but thats another story) because the screen I have is gorgeous and I've seen some piss yellow ones that take away the wow for me, even with Color Profiles.
I still could return until the 8th of January due to holiday return policy and buying contract free, but I'm extremely apprehensive to, only to get one that has real issues, build quality funkiness or a bad screen or a combo knowing my luck. I also filled it up with video files and apps, I have like 129 or something now. 6 gigs free, its not any slower or more crash-y than its normal, stable self!
Best of luck!
Crashes aren't related to the technology used in the NAND.
Why users could think that TLC NAND are unreliable is something beyond my comprehension.
The most sold SSD on the market, Samsung 840 series, uses TLC NAND and is absolutely reliable.
Sometimes forum like this are very dangerous for the users....
This is an incredible mystery. TLC SSDs are plenty fast and are good for whole petabytes of writes. The MLC "issue" is a massive insecurity group issue fueled by ignorance.
I wonder if any of these people tried restoring their device like new first without a backup before determining that the cause of the crashes was due to the flash chip. Probably not I'm guessing.

There is nothing wrong in TLC, on the contrary there are many situations where they are faster than MLC.
The only downside on TLC is they are less durable, but if your phone will last five years instead of 7, would it make any difference? You are going to change it in 2-3 years at best.

Four times. Thanks for assuming that I, and the Apple Genius who confirmed the problem and exchanged my problematic TLC phone, are too stupid to actually triage an issue.
Thank you. This is exactly my ordeal right now.
I'm gonna hit the store AGAIN to see about another unit. I forget, IV. Is yours a 6 plus or a 6?
I have a long string of numbers in the log but dated from a month ago. Cause of concern?
A 6, 64.
If you've had any crashes since the last restore, they should be detailed in the diagnostic logs (Settings > Privacy). Kernel panics are documented in reports whose titles start with a long string of numbers (also, hardware related panics often show a bug type of 110 in the first line). Those reports can make it easier to get an exchange if you have any trouble.
Fingers crossed for you!
Thanks. This one is new, so I'm thinking it'll be no problem. I swear. I'm tempted to buy a T-Mo or a Verizon to see if one of them might be MLC since this ATT one is TLC.
Which carrier are you using?
T-Mobile.
The genius I worked with for the exchange said there were no guarantees on getting either TLC or MLC in the 64 GB models; he's seen both in all colors, both new and replacement stock. He made it sound like it was pretty much luck of the draw, and I'd bet it's the same regardless of carrier.

Because it crashed and rebooted on the regular. No thanks.

Yes. I've been using iPhones since 2007. Owned every model. Never had one that crashed like this. Ever.
Thank you. This is exactly my ordeal right now.

So the benchmark test is a good way of determining MLC vs TLC? The iPhone 6 my sister has isn't jailbroken and I'm sure not installing a random app from a website.

That's the right mind set.Honestly, if you only have one, and you're not routinely experiencing very noticeable crashes, probably not. Even my new MLC phone managed to throw a kernel panic within the first week I had it. (Again, on a clean install NOT from backup, thank you very much.) It hasn't done it again, so I'm not too worried about it. All the smaller crashes and blue screen reboots I had with the previous phone are gone.
I'll try to be clear about my stance on this: TLC is a non issue IF you aren't having problems, and the majority of people aren't. I would not have exchanged a phone simply because it had TLC.
If you ARE having problems, especially reboots or bootloops with red, green, or blue screens, it *may* be at the heart of those problems. This behavior is a known indicator of NAND failure regardless of type. And there are at least some Apple personnel who are willing to say they're seeing more returns of the models known to have TLC NAND due to crashing issues than one might normally expect to see. It's not affecting everyone by any stretch, but there does appear to be a subset of devices failing that have that particular element in common.
