I'm having horrific lip sync issues with Get Channels. Audio is massively delayed, like maybe 0.5 to 1 second.

The lip sync issue does not occur with other applications: Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, HBO.

Are you using Airplay speakers? If so, per the developer the Channels app is going to be updated to support audio delay (due to Airplay).

So what does this HDHomeRun thing do? Does it receive the OTA channels and send them over home network so that they could later be shown on TV? If this is the case, then effectively these devices are digital tuners.

I assume that pretty much everybody has digital tuners in their TVs and could watch those OTA channels that HDHomeRun would receive. What is the point of buying HDHomeRun devices then? What am I missing?

There are multiple versions with different features. Maybe 1 TV with an Antenna and that is all you need then maybe the same.

1. I use the Cable Card Version.
2. I want to record from the HDHomeRun Turners.
3. I want App support. I.e. Live TV via Apple TV.
4. Some want Mpeg4 support instead of just Mpeg2 (OTA)

I am sure there are other reasons.

Thanks. Seems like I am not missing anything and do not really need the HDHomeRun. My TV has the ATSC tuner and when I tried to catch OTA channels - I got only useless local garbage. I suppose HDHomeRun will not be able to fix that.

The channels app gets better every day

With Channels 1.4(14), you can now you can pause, rewind and fast-forward live TV directly on your Apple TV! The app uses 2GB of temporary space available on your ATV, which translates to a ~30minute video buffer.

Also the top shelf should finally be fixed.

Version 1.4(14)
- NEW: Timeline view with seek buffer lets you pause, rewind and fast-forward live TV!
- NEW: Click the left/right side of the Siri remote to jump back/forward by 10s.
- NEW: Drag and hold the Siri remote to seek to a specific position on the timeline.
- NEW: Tap and hold left/right on IR remotes to RW/FF.
- NEW: Favorites guide film strip for easy access to other channels while watching TV.
- NEW: Switch between audio tracks from the video player.
- NEW: Enable and disable closed captioning from the video player.
- IMPROVED: Click the Siri remote to pause/resume video.
- IMPROVED: Previous channel is remembered when leaving the video player.
- IMPROVED: Video player will automatically resume when the 30 minute pause buffer fills up.
- FIXED: Top shelf would not reload guide data.

If you leave this app running 24/7 like most live tv solutions, and it is constantly recording a 30 minute buffer to the Apple TV internal storage, I wonder how that would affect the life of the storage chip...

Personally don't use TV on a 24/7 basis, same on ATV.

Tested Channels (Beta) 1.4(14) and I was totally impressed by the new features. If you have/get a SiliconDust tuner and ATV4, this app is far, far better than STBs from the cable company for live TV viewing (better picture, too). I use a cable card tuner, however ota tuners are available. This is a have to have app.

Note: These features are only in the Beta version, for now. Dev's are good at quickly updating from Beta to Production, barring problems. Haven't seen any bugs...although the quick guide strip is showing all channels, not favorites, as stated. Dev's will add Beta testers to try out the app. Then buy, if you like, as I did.

One thing I hope they change in this new beta

Instead of swiping left and right for FF & RW
it should you be click pause then you can FF & RW

cause you can trigger FF & RW just by picking up the remote
Or swiping down to see the guide

This. This BETA, while great, is very annoying.
[doublepost=1452899970][/doublepost]Also, how do you access just your favorites while watching a channel now?

So here's a question. I don't have a SD tuner which costs a minimum of $100. I have a TiVo HD which I disabled some time ago. TiVo offered me a lifetime subscription for $99. Why would I get an SD home run and buy the channels app when the TiVo can do the same and more?

The HDHoneRun multi-turner is shared with all of your TV's allowing access from any TV via the Apple TV 4. I.E. One UI and one remote on all of your TV's. Only you can decide how important that is to you vs the TiVo experience. I personally have a lot of TV's and love the Apple TV Experience.

I have a Griffin case on my remote. No problems with "just" picking up the remote or swiping down for guide.

You might try just clicking on the "naked" remote when you pick up. If on touch screen, it will pause and then you can do Rew/FF functions. If not on touch screen, no harm no foul. Then you can go on from there.

Maybe I don't understand your actions, or due to the case(?) we aren't having any problems, at this time.

Regarding additional comment by "thelead", I would also like to see just the favorites on the swipe down "quick" film strip (favorites are stated above, but "all" are showing). Maybe dev's can add a selectable switch in settings for all vs favorites?

Anyone using the hdhomerun with Comcast? Do you lose the OnDemand functionality?

If I get one of these now will I have to later buy a new unit for dvr functionality?

you can still use the comcast iOS app for on demand

and no the current hdhomerun prime works with the beta dvr coming in the future

I meant you can watch on demand on the iPad

I didn't know people used Comcast ondemand today

Problem with Taboo is no 5.1 sound and they don't appear to be willing to address it from when I looked into it. It's one of the main reasons I went with HDHomeRun and Channels over it.

The latest Beta is much better in this regard.
