Live tv is
Nice. Dvr is better
That's a dvr function.Disagree. OTA is all about Live TV for me - local news, sports.. who wants to DVR those. After a show has aired - it can usually be streamed from a variety of sources. So there is a very little need to "record" it myself.
I will take an ability pause/rewind live TV, before DVR.
I wanted to add more to your comments but decided to just say, Yes, I agree with these commentsChannels is the best and most refined app in the tvOS store. You do need a SiliconDust tuner... OTA or CableCard.
Live TV with Pause/Rew/FF. Kind of mini DVR for live tv. Favorites and Channel Surfing, etc.
So much better than cableco STB and you only pay one time, not month after month, year after year.
I have Version FIOS and I have 2x HDHomeRun Prime which supports 3 Turners. I then pay Verizon $4.95 per month for each CableCard and I have the Preferred Service. The only DRM (at least in my area) is the Fox Channels (like Fox Business, Fox News and Fox Sports etc. - not the regular Fox Channel). I should also add the probably the Premium Channels like HBO but I buy then via iTunes. When I need to watch Fox News I use my iPad Pro with FIOS Mobile. If you want more then just the OTA type channels you need the Prime with a CableCard. If you want a smaller subset you can use one of the others (Connect or Extend) and just connect to the wall using ClearQAM (at least for now). Or you can drop TV from FIOS and get an OTA Antenna. I ended up buying 2x Prime's and 2x CableCard because I wanted 6 Channels instead of 3 mainly for the upcoming DVR Service which takes away tuners.I want to get an HDHomeRun for Channels, but i'm not sure which version i'd need...
i'm going to keep verizon for now, but return my cable boxes that i have to pay $30 a month for. Do i have to get the version with a cable card?
how do figure out what channels have DRM?

I don't have a cable provider. I just have a new Apple TV and a Netflix subscription. How do I go about getting some Otha channels. What am I suppose to buy or connect. I really just want to be able to watch the super bowl through my Apple TV. Cbs will be broadcasting it. Do I need to pay the cbs all access to watch it live through there or no? I read an article awhile back that you won't be able to view nfl games on the cbs game. Any help would be appreciated.
Do you need a cable subscription to use channels?
Thank you very much.Wait... why is the Prime SD only over WiFi?

Super Bowl will be free to stream through the CBS Sports app.
No, you can use an OTA antenna.
I thought you were return $30 / month in STB. I returned $67 worth. Whole Home Service with 2x DVR and 2x STB. ROIis pretty quick not to mention a better experience. Thanks, dude. Sounds a bit cost prohibitive at this point then. Although, never having access to Fox News sounds like a great benefit.

I understand the DVR Service but not the SD. I disabled all of my SD Channels and only watch HD Channels. Most of the SD Channels have a HD Channel and if not I probably would not want to watch it anyway.Yeah, but I don't think the DVR service is comparable yet + having to watch in SD.

I only watch HD. Must be some misunderstanding. No idea.On the SD website, it says the Prime can only stream in SD, which seems like a weird omission.
That is from a year ago. The Prime has always been able to stream in HD, via 3rd party S/W. However, SiliconDust View (SD's S/W) could only stream reliably in SD. They have since upgraded. On the SD website, it says the Prime can only stream in SD, which seems like a weird omission.
