I tried Sling TV and it was ok but the video quality was sometimes iffy using AirPlay. I would hope with the Apple TV app the quality might improve over the AirPlay version. Unfortunately, for me to even try it again, it would need to have local channels. The antenna box would do me no good. I rent a condo and do not have the ability to mount an external antenna. All of the internal antennas I have tried do not give me enough signal strength to keep the pictures from freezing up when the commuter trains go by. Strange but true. As I live just north of Chicago, I expected the OTA signal strength to be strong. I think the building I live in must have chicken wire around it or something that prevents the signal from coming in the building.

This is because you have a crappy internal network setup!

Did you try an internal antenna with a signal booster? Try one of those flat antennas mounted to a wall faces outside with a booster

You have no idea what your talking about and no knowledge of my internal network setup. Only SlingTV has been a problem, no other service or app...only SlingTV.

Yes, tried both. Even bought a cheap Walmart rabbit ears antenna because some sites indicated the interference could be cause by "too strong of signal reflecting of nearby object and cause tuner overload". I think my building might be wrapped in chickenwire or something.:D

Rabbit ears are crap. You need an amplifier like this: http://www.channelmaster.com/TV_Antenna_Preamplifier_p/cm-7777.htm

Or you can try using 2 antennas with a coupler.

No, I didn't try one as high-end as the that one. I used the powered amplifier from MOHU, who made the antenna I was trying. Well the one you referred to work for an indoor antenna? The description indicates it's for outdoor use, which because I am renting, cannot do. I originally headed down this path when I moved into an urban area and it was heavily rumored that Apple was going to introduce a tv package (including locals). Now that that never happened, not sure it's worth going the aTV SlingTV route. Lot's of complaints about it having just as poor a quality as the iPhone app.

If you are still looking for a LiveTV app, that utlizes your Cable or Sattelite set-top-box, which is running Enigma2 and OpenWebIF (like Dreambox, Vu+), just give my app "vuplusTV" a try. It is for free - so no risk.
Current version 1.0 is more about "functionality over design", Version 1.1 changes this: topshelf support, using PIcons installed on the STB, audio pass-through, and many more enhancements and bug fixes.

Version 1.1 is just submitted for AppStore review and hopefully is passing within one week ;-)

Enjoy...

Can I connect my youview STB to apple TV rather than buying new hardware (HDHomeRun)? Sorta new to this sorta stuff lol

I do not know, what brand of receiver you have. YouView is offereing Humax and others.
So I do not know, if your YouView receiver is based on the Enigma2 Linux system for Settopboxes, not do I know, if it uses OpenWebIF as interface to browsers. You can check by simply connecting to the box from any browser. When it uses OpenWebIF, then you will see that ;-)
Maybe, there is an alternative SW image for the receiver you got, but this might not support the additional features of the YouView service.

I assume then that because OTA TV reception is for crap in your building, they allow Cable TV?? If so, depending on your local laws, if your APT is pre wired for cable tv it should have CLEARQAM channels coming through.

http://qam.net/clearqam/

Connect the cable directly to your tv and the internal tuner will take care of the rest. I believe HomerunHD will also work with clearQAM.
