I got this for temporary coverage. I'm waiting for reviews of cases or for a dodo iPad 2 case.
Its certainly a beautiful case, But it seems to ignore the fact that the ipad 2 now has cameras.

I am going to preorder a back zagg and get a PS crystal front and a smart cover.

I think the back Zagg and a smart cover will be a sweet combination. I don't think the PS front is necessary, however. I used their anti-glare coating and took it off after a few months because I missed the brilliance of the bare screen. The crystal version of course wouldn't do that, but when I had a crystal shield on my iPhone you could still tell it was there because of imperfections around the edges. IMHO, the screen is durable enough naked, and there is testimony to that affect in other threads. I've had a naked screen for over 6 months, and with the benefit of a case, the screen still looks perfect. I think the smart cover will be enough to protect the screen.

Just an extra opinion to consider. Feeling comfortable that you aren't about to damage your iPad is essential to the enjoyment while using it, so definitely go with the setup you like best.

BTW, I'm also probably going to get a sleeve to keep the iPad and smart cover in.

The back of my iPad1 got hit with a lot of scratches, so I'm looking at Gelaskin and Zagg. Hopefully the Gelaskins are properly compatible with the Smart Covers.

*cringe* That crap turns your device into a sticky, gummy mess of orange peel :(

I've never used a back cover or one required a wet application the way the Zagg instructs. What experience have you had that makes you say they cause a mess? I'm really interested since I was planning to pre-order one soon.

I'm not primarily using my iPad 2 for the cameras. I still have access to the front camera, and if I want to take a video from the back camera, I can always easily take it out. I bought the Dodo 2 because I want my iPad to look like a book.

Fair enough, Enjoy your DODO case then:D

I look after my stuff so don't need to waste money on plastic screen protectors that cost pence to make, yet you are happy paying thousands of percent extra... The only time it would go into any kind of case is when I take it out of the house, which is not that often because I have an iPhone 4 that takes care of mobile activities.

I have a screen protector on my phone because the oleophobic coating is a little tacky to my fingers which makes playing some games harder. While I'll try it without I doubt it will be long before my iPad has one.

Bubble wrap and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Actually, probably just the smart cover to start, then see what comes out for the back. I liked the Incipio Feather case for the Ipad which just protects the back, and it didn't have a raised lip around the bezel: I don't know if a similar case could be manufactured for the ipad 2's shape.

Not sure yet, but something that protects most if not all of the device, doesn't add much bulk, and allows me to prop it up for typing or viewing.
