I have a SP from my original iPad that I never used so I'll use that and an Incase sleeve for the time being until some cases actually hit the stores.

Bubble wrap and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Actually, probably just the smart cover to start, then see what comes out for the back. I liked the Incipio Feather case for the Ipad which just protects the back, and it didn't have a raised lip around the bezel: I don't know if a similar case could be manufactured for the ipad 2's shape.

Will the incipio feather incorporate the smart cover?

I'll get something along the lines of a wrapsol to protect the metal surfaces and an anti-glare film for the screen. I'm hoping someone makes a case like the smart cover but that isn't so bright and colorful, in a leather or canvas.

smart cover and some kind of clear skin for the back. Tired of covering up the ipad.

Both of these look good. I like them because they provide some measure of protection (unlike the Apple solution) for both the front and back. Thanks for posting :)

Going to try...

I have two covers from dealextreme are on order.
1 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/protective-silicone-back-case-for-ipad-2-translucent-white-53858

2 http://www.dealextreme.com/p/protective-ultrathin-pu-leather-case-for-apple-ipad-2-black-57240

Then see what comes out, but I am hopeful these two will work together.

I also have an extra matte screen protector I plan to use (hole punch for camera) from my iPad 1. I may get a smart screen, as I think magnets should be strong enough to still stick thru the material - but holding judgement.

I think Im gonna get a Smart Cover to use for a little while until a few more third-party cases come out, and I'll get something with some real protection.

The new iPad is slightly smaller in width and length and not just thinner so existing screen protectors and zagging type protectors won't fit it from iPad 1.

I'd hope that there will be custom iPad 2 protectors in store however I'd happily buy and iPad 1 Invisible shield and cut it down a tiny bit so it fits the new iPad if there isn't until I can get an iPad 2 version.

It wouldn't look as great but we don't want a damaged new iPad like engadget managed to do at the cost of a slightly mis fitting temporary body protector.

Just decided on the Dodocase for the iPad2... Can't find a single negative thing written about them!! (Just to make me feel better about the chunk of change I just spent, can someone else who is getting one confirm that they are awesome?)

My fav is either a Belkin Grip Vue, Incase Snap or Incipio Feather case for the back and a SGP or PS screen protector on the front.

Unfortuantely, none of those items are released yet.

Awesome sorta, but they aren't very well made or tough.

Mine started splitting after a month or less with no trauma done to it, then I dropped it from 2 feet on to carpet and it split completely out on the bottom two ends.

They are nice until you realize they will protect your iPad from one fall only. My iPad would have been undamaged from the fall that destroyed my Dodo.

I had the Scoche folio linked in the post above and it was great. I sold it with my iPad 1.

I got this for temporary coverage. I'm waiting for reviews of cases or for a dodo iPad 2 case.

Thanks thats a nice cheap alternative for the Ipad 2 and smart cover and Backing shield

I'm planning on protecting my iPad 2 by NOT letting my 3yr old and 2yr old play with it :)

I'll get then a 1st gen on the cheap from Craigslist.

may get a smart cover. Had a folio case that I almost never used before (a lil heavy), and it's gotten only a couple minor scratches on the back from a year's use.
