Before you could pick and choose a time and order anything no problem but for weeks now there is simply no delivery available at any time on any day from the likes of Amazon fresh, Safeway, etc where I live (SF bay).

Off the subject, although it is impossible to get a Whole Foods delivery via Amazon, I have been able to see delivery times for Safeway via Instacart, although haven't used:

Guns and ammo

Uhhh.. Good luck with that. I have direct connections with firearms/ammunition distributors who I have bought/sold from many times in the past working in L.E., and they’ve already talked about how ammo shortages are in current constraint due to the uprise with the pandemic, not to mention firearm inflation is something that we’re starting to see again, which happened back during Sandy Hook as well. I mean, even firearm supplies/accessories are starting to show shortages with cleaning cloths, repair kits, oil’s/solvents, etc.

So, if you’re waiting for a ‘stimulus’ check to purchase firearms/ammo, [depending on the state you live in], you Will be facing a very difficult time finding either or.

I’ve used them. Scheduling and delivery seems to be fine but the problem is that at least so far they don’t/can’t deliver about half of what you order through them so apparently they don’t update inventory often or often enough. And I’m not talking about buying mass quantities of stuff, just a typical standard order one would place before all of this happened. Amazon fresh has a message on their website that “inventory and delivery may be temporarily unavailable...” but you can’t schedule delivery for any time up until mid-April which is as far as the schedule goes. So they are effectively shut down (at least in my zip code) even if Amazon doesn’t want to admit it. Same thing goes for Safeway’s own service, delivery or pickup at a store.

Its practically forcing you to go the a crowded grocery store and waiting in the resulting long checkout lines which seems to defeat the purpose of social distancing. They’ve shut down bars and restaurants that have far fewer people gathering inside, but obtaining groceries reliably and safely during this pandemic doesn’t seem to be on anyone’s radar. Online ordering and delivery was already in place, and it seems like a perfect solution, but right now it’s not working. Not even close.

This thread is directed for folks in the US. Wondering how you plan on spending the upcoming stimulus funds. As of now, it looks like it will be between $1000 and $200 per adult. For my wife and I, we'll just save it.

Other thoughts?

Goes straight to the bank. Anything else other than using it for emergency need is reckless, damaging, and immoral. My job is incredibly safe (certainly more than 99% of the rest of the population), but this doesn't change that this check is for emergency needs. Once the emergency is over, I'll see where it goes.

Not yet. They are still "negotiating", or should I say squabbling.

Also, regarding the US Federal Income Tax deadline, it looks like the deadline for filing a return is now July 15, 2020.
Yea this is ridiculous! Screwing around just like Hersheypark and the concert constantly "assessing the situation". Just freaking cancel and refund already!!

I’ll believe there’s money coming when I see it. But if I were to get some, it would go straight toward my credit card bills.
I agree, week before the virus ramped up one of my cats had a urinary blockage, two emergency procedures failed and I had to put him to sleep. Left with $3600 more credit debt.

As I recall, the stimulus is reduced by 5% of the difference over $75k individual or $150k joint. So, if your income is ~$100k it eliminates the stimulus.

Assuming I qualify for a check, I'll be donating most of it to the local food bank and buying gift cards from mom and pop businesses that I'm never going to redeem. I'll be doing that regardless.

A small city near me put up an app to facilitate such support. Great to see that happening. People are rushing to "selflessly" preserve their favorite haunts other side of the mountain... pizza shops, bookstores... bakery. All we want for our parting ways w/ plastic money for a gift card now is the chance to drop some regular ol' cash in there for a real buy later on. Casting bread upon the waters...

The supposed $1200 check won't show up on my doorstep as I make too much money according to the stimulus package language....

I don't think I make too much - rather too little...

Bummer

Yea one issue is it only looks at income, not cost of living also. It will help us, but will probably barely cover half of rent in parts of CA or NY.

Send it back to the federal government

I think it would be more effective if you donated the amount to a local charity (maybe a hospital?) that is under stress due to this pandemic. If you give it back to the feds it might end up in some "Study of the deployment of nuclear weapons through the usage of a greek chorus" type of commission.

Nah, it's simply going to be turned into federal income tax money sent back to them. If they require that a section of my year is spent working purely to give them my earnings, then a closed loop monetary system it is.

I’m donating it. I don’t need the money, but I can think of plenty of other organizations/ institutions/businesses that do and I Will divide that money to those specifics that I believe are true to what they stand for in terms of bringing reputable services/products to customers.

Seriously, it’s that bad how some of these companies are severely struggling Given the economic state/shut down, and it’s unfortunate, because there will be plenty of casualties with businesses not surviving. So if I can contribute at least something, then at least I can say that I made some type of impact for the better.
