Pro's:

-I'm 17 - learn to drive, get into clubs.
-I'm the only child at home.
-I have lots of Gadgets, clothes and St. Tropez. (Yes, I'm shallow)
-I have some good close friends.
-I'm confident.
-Proud that I overcome some stuff.

Con's:

-Had to leave home when I was 11 (by myself), which still affects me.
-My younger brother and sister live with my Mum and their Dad.
-A group of people who I thought I could trust have walked all over me recently, and are the opposite of what I judged them to be.
-A lot of personal and family troubles, and not your average 'Mom called Dad an idiot' thing that most couples/families have.
-We almost went broke last year, and we're just getting back now
-My Mum chooses my Stepdad who treats her terribly, over me. She's more-or-less blanked me and doesn't aknowledge me.
-Everything my Stepdad has done wrong gets covered up because of who his Father is.
-Some people think I lie for attention.
-I still can't work the bullet point and number list tools on this forum :p

I voted a 5 at the moment because I feel surrounded by mediocrity quite a bit recently.

School is almost done (Sept academically, need thesis submission after that) which is good but then I have to find a job and the company I've been co-oping at the for the last 3 years doesn't seem to be hiring :(. Still don't have a female acquaintance to call my own, mostly due to my own over-standards and picky-ness , but I still blame society.

Once things cool down from school and such and I get a solid job I'll feel a lot better....right now though, dead center is about as good as it gets.

Lemme guess.

This thread is a prelude to being told that you — yes, you — can have everything you ever wanted if only you open your heart, mind and soul to the wisdom of... The Great Secret Of Life.

Available at all good bookstores for $29.99.

it's amazing how cynical those of you (and it's pretty much all of you) who don't know The Secret can really be. don't take out your anger and resentment on us Lucky Ones. there may only be several dozen of us in the world, but we still deserve your love and respect. after all, that is just one of the steps in learning The Secret.

oh, and it most certainly can NOT be purchased. with worldy currency at least...

According to this, it can.

I went with a 5, it would normally be a bit higher but I'm having a rough couple of weeks.

That said there is 'stuff' on the horizon that I'm looking forward to. There's also 'stuff' on the horizon behind me I'm missing, over to the east there's 'stuff' I'm better off without and to the west, right from foreground to horizon there's stuff I really want but can't get to because I'm still headed north and I'm not really doing the steering.

What I'd really like to do is grab the reins and take a sharp right but then the 'stuff' on my wagon would fall off and possibly break, I might even lose a wheel and you never know the commotion might scare some of the 'stuff' to the west off leaving me with a knackered wagon in the middle of the desert with none of the 'stuff' I had and still just as far from any of the 'stuff' I want.

you still don't get it. that's ok though, i wouldn't expect you to understand.

how else besides knowing The Secret could a teenager like the original poster consider their life to be perfect, and also know who they are going to marry a whole 8 years in advance?

just because you can buy a guideline, does not mean you can buy The Secret.

Apparently, that link is attached to another secret which my "Little Snitch" promptly popped up and said, "Hasta alli, primo". ;)

and you'd live and be friends with exactly the people that you love the most. Everything would be perfect.

It can be really horrid to live with people you love -- sometimes it's better just to live with people you can grunt at.

I do love my dog, though.

I know you have adopted a theory of happiness that's made a significant impact on your life, macgeek2005, but have you thought about comparing your theory of happiness to definitions of happiness across other cultures? I wonder how reading with this question in mind might help you further (or deepen) your own ideas?

I would say a 6.. things arent way up, yet im not in the dumps either. A lot of drama has happened over the past months, bleh..

I'm very happy. But I believe in Karma so it will probably be balanced out soon with something bad.

Whats happened recently?

I've finished all my coursework. I've hung all my work up in the gallery for the final show. Before everyone else too so I got first dibs on wall space :p
My parents just bought a new car which is very, very good.
I'm working little and getting paid lots (well not lots, but the work-money ratio is good. 2 hours work for £30 a week.
My girlfriend is beautiful, silly, clever and the best thing that's happened to me. for 4 consecutive years.
I'm loving my DS games! haha.
My dads joined an elite property investment group, with me only needing a bit of financial backing to follow.
Buying land in Poland, Spain and France for a number of little holiday homes/villas/gites. rent a few off. keep some just for us.
I've been learning some things about life which made me pretty happy and relieved :)

They say money doesn't bring happiness. and it doesn't directly, but being able to do anything I want for the most point is good. I can focus on learning, etc... it's not money exactly. it's just luck and connections.

It's good. Could it get better? It could! but I would still be equally happy driving a Ferrari or a VW Golf. yup.
