I am working on hitting 250 posts also. Have you gotten the G5 set up and everything installed yet?
Nope haha it just shipped today via FedEx, should have it by wednesday at the latest. It's from Missouri coming to Milwaukee WI

Good luck with it!
Wow what a coincidence... I just got a PowerBook from Missouri, and it was shipped by FedEx also hahaha.
This is all I have for now: I'll take another shot once it's actually in my possession which should be Wednesday.
If you look at that picture, you can read "more info" at the bottom, this will be the place where you can look for the graphics card, when you finally got the PM shipped to you.
So I was just searching around ebay and found something that I've wanted for a little while.
I found a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz with 8 RAM slots, currently with a 250GB HDD and 5GB RAM.
I plan to keep it on Leopard as that's the most it'll run. I also plan to upgrade it a bit and possibly use it for photo editing and web browsing.
All this and I paid $91 for it.
So 2 questions, how'd I do and no what should I do for upgrades?
If there really is 5GB of RAM in there that should be fine. However, a newer hard drive maybe of use primarily for reliability concerns. When you get it post what's really in there and we will let you know of any upgrades.
Is this a dual core (late 2005)? If so and you want a better video card I have 2 7800GT's I am not using.
Hey dude, how much would you be willing to let me have one of those G5 7800s!?
My late 2005 dual core 2.0 is only limited by it's crummy 6600LE.
I'm glad that card was "LE, Limited Edition"....it ********* blows...
Including shipping to ireland, how much man?![]()

I'm interested as well haha
Turns out FedEx has stepped up their game, sounds like my computer should be here Tuesday![]()
You cannot install three sticks to bump it up. You must install matched pairs of identical RAM into the matched slots.
Since im not able to view classifieds yet, im curious if anyone has an apple keyboard and mouse for sale. Id like wired, mighty mouse and aluminum keyboard with or without number pad.
----------
I know that's recommended but I have put non matching sticks into macs before without issue. Is it a usual thing that they need identical sticks?
Yes on some Macs it doesn't matter. You lose the dual channels but it will function. Using an unmatched set in a G5 will cause them to be unrecognized. All RAM must be installed as matched identical pairs to be recognized and function.

Interesting and good to know!
Is is possible that 5GB of ram is installed then and only 4GB work, or can that 5th stick still work if it matches?
It can be 5GB, loo:
2x 2GB + 2x 512MB = 5GB
4x 1GB + 2x 512MB = 5GB
6x 256MB + 2x 1GB = 5GB
and so on.
Some sellers that count cents, do the trick in installing several 256MB sticks (which are worthless sold seperately) to make it look a high number.
As far a Blue tooth goes, I purchased Mac compatible USB dongle from Ebay, it has worked without a hitch for the past two years.
The one I got came from China and looks much like the one in the link, but just look around a bit and make sure the one you choose is Mac (OS X) compatible.

Pretty good! I picked up a base model 2GHz with a Cinema Display for $80 (I have a damaged case though) You definitely got a deal, that RAM is VERY expensive! (Close to $60 worth). I use mine all the time, what are you wanting to do with it? That determines the upgrades you should do![]()
Very nice! When I get some more desk space I wouldn't mind a decent cinema display!
I plan to do minor photo editing and mostly internet browsing for now. I'll have to see what it can do and determine further from there!![]()
I love my 20" Cinema DisplayIf I had more money I would get the thunderbolt display but Apple did a wonderful job on the Silver Cinema Display, just wish Apple's produce were a bit cheaper!
Ah, good! I forget to mention that option, too. Though I have had the experience that almost every dongle is compatible, even if they do not state that they are OS X compatible. As far a Blue tooth goes, I purchased Mac compatible USB dongle from Ebay, it has worked without a hitch for the past two years.
