Iphone 6s+ Space Grey 64 gb with Samsung Chip:)

Samsung 6s+, the battery timing looks pretty good

This is my iPhone 6S Plus.

I forgot to take a screenshot when it died so this is taken while on charge. The screenshot is roughly 45 mins into charging. Hence the high percentage.

Took off charge on Thursday at around 09:15. Died and put on charge at around 16:45 today. Low Power Mode enable at 3%.

Couple of things, guys:
  • Please refrain from posting biased stats with "iPhone was charged"
  • Please mention your model if you report the battery life first time
  • Please prefer posting screens with 1-2% battery left as 30+ percentages give us inaccurate impressions
Regarding the reality, GSMarena recently posted tests and I consider their measurements pretty in line with what was reported here (not much improve for 6s and considerable improve for 6s+), see below. PhoneArena also posted measures but I doubt their result for 6s (8h), though 6+ seems realistic (9h).

These tests have no meaning if they don't do have two version of different chips

What chip is in your iphone?

Base on the power battery results over here with 1% left, indicated which chip and 6s plus only, the power different is 4%, samsung chip 4% less.

Mind saying what things you had turned off?

Background App Refresh is completely off. I don't see any reason to keep it on.

Location Services vary. Mostly switched off but a few set to "While Using". Only really the ones where I need location info from them. (See screenshot below)

Mail is set to Push but the Fetch settings are "Every Hour"

Display Brightness is usually around half. 80% in sunlight and dimmest in bed.

I've also been closing all my apps when not using them.

Also worth noting that this was using Facebook in Safari and not the Facebook App.

Anything else you'd like to know?

Better than my previous phone the S6. I have the TSMC chip on a 6S but I still hit 10-20% from about 6am to 6pm with my usage (it's 5:11pm and I'm at 23%). I use a battery protection case and when I start charging at 20% I go to bed with 100% with juice to spare in the battery case. I only plug my phone in 1 time before going to bed.
If I had the 6S plus I know I wouldn't make it to bed without plugging it in. A battery case would make that phone ridiculous in size.

Seems like a lot of you all just check the time on your phone and place it back in your pocket. No real "usage" going on. 5 mins on each app so you should have 1000 hrs of standby.

Does it count time period during the phone performed background tasks without my knowledge? For example, if I first use Safari for 30 minutes and proceed to watch YouTube videos for 20 minutes. If Safari was running in the background while YouTube was in foreground, is the usage time 70 minutes even though only 50 minutes have passed since I turned the screen on?

30 minutes - Safari (foreground)
20 minutes - YouTube (foreground)
20 minutes - Safari (background while YouTube is running foreground)

Under this scenario, what number does the "Usage" report?

Unless there's anything else you think I should know, that's about it. I'll try those other settings out, thank you.

Had access to a brand new 6s and brand new 5s, both of which had new batteries obviously. After one complete battery charge and discharge, I measured a real world battery test. Streamed the 1080p movie "Titanic" from you tube at same brightness for each. After 4 hours, both phones had identical % left (something in the 30s, I forgot). Both were on iOS 9.

The 6s had a samsung chip, for what it's worth. I do not believe the 6s' battery life is superior to the 5s. It's about the same, which surprised me. I felt the 6 has better battery life. There has been no progress regarding battery life with the iPhone. The chips have gotten WAY more powerful, and they are more efficient, but Apple continues to put just the minimum capacity to avoid battery life regressions. But there have not been any improvements.

I'm pretty impressed. I spent the day watching sports while doing heavy browsing / gaming on the phone. This would be a pretty good example of really pushing the phone's battery. I had wifi on, turned off the syncs that I didn't need, and turned data off (I have 250 megs, thanks Verizon.) It'll be interesting to see what my usage is with moderate activity.

With this sort of usage on my Note 5, I could only get about 4 hours on screen time. This is a Samsung chip 6s+ and is my first Apple phone.

Anyone else have the issue when the battery hits 22% and shuts down in low battery mode? Requiring a charge to turn back on?

(I have a 6s on iOS 9.1 beta 5)
