Because of how thin the mechanism is.Why is it clever, because it includes "a pair of arcing piston hinges that fold flush for a 'nearly hingeless look' when the laptop is closed"? So they wanted it to look better closed than when it is open?
Whenever Apple releases a super thin product everyone around here is cheering them on, but when a competitor does it all of a sudden it's questioned?but why so thin?

Nope. Fewer ports are what their target market wanted. For more ports, get a MBP.I see one advantage it has over Apple's ultrathin right away.
IT HAS MORE THAN ONE PORT.
It actually looks usable as a productivity machine.
I may be a Mac user, but Apple goofed big time by only having one USB-C port on their device.
You do realize that no company (well may be Samsung) is claiming anything, this are just clickbait titles right? All these companies that boast out-doing Apple... just the very fact that they chase their designs, measurements and colors makes these companies and designs lame. When you consider the lesser software and build quality of the product, they're still considerably behind Apple. When Apple said the Macbook Air was thin, they used an envelope to illustrate the point- they used a pencil to demonstrate the thin-ness of the iPad. All these other companies are using Apple as the standard by which they measure the quality of their products, and don't even seem to get the irony. I love it.![]()
Well sure....seeing as "Ultrabook" was a branding mechanism (along with design guidelines) that was first introduced in 2011.Apple was not the first one to create an ulta-book....Intel was..
I own 2 PCs at home, I've installed Windows 10 on one of them, the other i still running windows 7 (due to hardware limitation) I agree windows 10 is a lot better but it's still the same clunky rusty windows. That shtick would have flown a few years ago, but not anymore. Windows 10 is a great OS, whether the crowd here (who likely have not used it) can admit it or not.
I like the design, especially how they used space by the hinge for the ports. Apple's current design doesn't allow that but they could certainly rethink some of their design to do it. Even though it has 2 USB-C ports I'd like Apple to include At least 4 so you could run displays as well as connect external devices via USB.I see one advantage it has over Apple's ultrathin right away.

Still a windows system, so whats it to do with Mac Rumors ? Can it run OS X officially or has HP been bought out by Apple ?
No didnt think so.
Don't forget the hP is at least 4-5cm wider and 2-3cm deeper than the rMB... With its 13.3" screen, it's a MBA or MBP size machine regardless of thickness. Only comparable to the rMB by the ignorant.I'll take half a pound lighter over 2.5 millimeters thinner.
