Im so used to the one soft button on the front. I dont see why there isnt a front facing camera as long as it doesnt look ugly!

This thread is huge. There will be a lot of people switching I feel. There has never been a thread, about another phone, ever on this forum.

There have been a few about the Droid when it was coming out. Also, the thread about the Nexus One on AT&T has generated a lot of posts. Lots of people have switched to that already. Including some very active MacRumors iPhone members. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/879157/

There are also people there, like me, waiting for the EVO. :)

Although, the new info about the next iPhone has me intrigued!

Don't forget me...I'm getting a set of EVOs day 1.

http://docs.google.com/View?id=dhtsnvs6_57d2hpqtgr << Has me super excited!

I'm going to download the SDK when I get home and start tinkering with the simulator.

Also, it looks like this phone will be getting some better support than the Hero. I remember the Hero had home made (by Sprint) CDMA support BEFORE it was included in the OS by Google. It appears that Sprint is working with Google to include Dual-Camera and Wimax support in Froyo (next version of Android) so that there will be limited new API's which should make for more quick updates and better App compatibility.

probably because before yesterday there was nothing iphone related to talk about.

Yea, iPhone discussion was pretty much dead... I don't know. The new iPhone info sounds pretty cool, but the EVO already has some mind share for me so the iPhone can't just COMPETE with it to win me over now. To get my money they'll have to blow it away. :)

Even if all the features simply put it on par with the Evo, I'd still EASILY get the iPhone. There is no user experience out there that is as refined as the one Apple offers. Not to mention the media capabilities are the best out there so it will always be steps ahead in that regard.

So I don't think they have to blow anyone away, they just have to not fail. I don't think they will though, the leaked details sound awesome and I'm sure those are just the beginning.

Does anyone remember the first of the "new" Sprint commercials claimed that the Pre was the first 4G phone? Yet I haven't heard anything about it and now the EVO is taking over said claim. What it seems to me was a scam to get people into buying the Pre in an attempt to save Palm and now it seems that phone will never be 4G capable (I could be wrong, though).

Anyway this phone is impressive spec-wise and if it can do simultaneous voice and data it will be a HUGE success and thus could boost Android over iPhone with the powerhouse of Droid, N1 and EVO.

Put on the gloves, Apple, and brace yourself for this haymaker.

With the rumored new iPhone specs, I don't even see the point of this thread now.

I'm saying for me. I can't say they have the media features I want when the EVO will play more media formats and play them over HDMI. There is no way the iPhone will support HDMI. At BEST it'll be Display Port. Also, Apple is going to continue using their propriety formats and likely not support DivX. Also, I doubt Apple is going to rescind their $99/year dev program or allow 3rd Party app distribution.

These are some of the things that I'd be willing to deal with if Apple shows us an amazing device. Otherwise I have no ties to Apple. I only picked them in the first place because they had the best and most open device on the market at the time.

Because there have been rumors of a front-facing camera on just about every device since the 3G and we've never seen it...

And the EVO isn't a rumor... It's a physical product that you can watch videos of.

There is no one more solid on any Apple news than Gruber. I'd bet money on his predictions. This isn't just some prediction by an analyst.

This phone is definately a beast. I highly doubt Apple is going to come close to surpassing it spec wise this go around.

Yep. Go look through those predictions. Besides Marble, where was he wrong? Even that wasn't a prediction. Also go read the article you linked to under iPhone 3GS where he talks about The Next iPhone. In that column he basically gave the talking points of Jobs speech at WWDC. He even got the name "3GS" correct.

Like I said, if I was betting money, I would still be way ahead.

Yea, he's probably correct. He has a good track record. I'd probably bet money on him too. I'm just saying, there's no reason why this thread shouldn't be just shut down until we see it delivered.

My point was in regard to the main topic of this point of the front, facing camera and not about the merits of the EVO. I'm not going to post the same thing in the Nexus One switchers thread nor engage in any fanboy chest-beating.

Truth is, we may know much more about the EVO than the next iPhone, it is still an unknown. The product hasn't been released and there hasn't been any in-depth reviews. Everyone was blown away, including me, by the Pre videos last year but there didn't turn out to be negatives (such as the lousy keyboard and cheap feel) until the product has been released and thoroughly tested.

I see. So yea, it looks like Apple is going to be next. :)

I think what is going to seperate this from the Pre is we do know a lot more about it than we did the Pre. It's running an OS that we can see on many other devices right now. Also, we know the hardware pretty well too. It's almost the same hardware in the HD2 (minus secondary camera, HDMI, and WiMax), so the build quality is known.

This is the same reason why people aren't skeptical about the next gen iPhone. We know that it will be at least as good as the last one.

I think you're confused when you saw that commercial. Sprint has never billed the Pre as a 4G device. It was talking about how it is the first to offer 4G as a carrier when promoting the Pre which is confusing, however, the Pre was never billed as a 4G device period.

Stop

Holy **** that phone looks like a goddamn beast spec wise.

It's a shame I can't bring myself to give two ****s about it since HTC doesn't seem to give two ****s about Canada.

DON'T use God's name in vain its HIGHLY insulting to me so just don't say His name in vain please.
