Holy **** that phone looks like a goddamn beast spec wise.

It's a shame I can't bring myself to give two ****s about it since HTC doesn't seem to give two ****s about Canada.

Get over it please!

No, I buy just about every new tech gadget available. As I said, it's cool, but not something that would carry much weight in my purchase decision. I'd be far more concerned with the battery life when it's playing back that 720p video through HDMI.

Plug it in while you play it.

Personally, all my recorded videos would immediately go on a media server at home. I guess I could see using it to play video for my kids on a trip, but we already do that with iPods.

So you'll be able to carry less iPods

Being on Sprint is what will hold this one back.

Maybe, but with AT&T I am paying twice as much for a network that is half as great. While the only thing wrong with Sprint is it's customer service and lack of millions of customers. I am paying $75 for unlimited everything and insurance.

I think this phone will do a much better job at replacing my many devices than anything I've seen yet. The Evo and a 32GB micro SD would cause me to leave my iPod and TV connection kit (which can't be done over HDMI by the way) at home when we travel.

p.s. Sorry about the double post, meant to drop it in my last one.

That's actually a good idea. Best Buy only offer in-store rebates. Therefore, the 100 will be off right away. I didn't think of that. I was headed to a Sprint store. Does Best Buy get phone right at release? As much as i'd like to stay with Apple, it'll be cheaper for us to move on. Interesting thing is if the EVO sucks...I can sell them, pay sprint ETF and head back to ATT and start a new contract there with new iPhone and pay subsidized pricing....win win

They didn't use to, but now they do. I like Best Buy for getting cell phones. They had a little trouble activating my Iphones last year and gave me a 24% discount on all my accessories that day. I also bought everything on the tax free day which was another win. I will probably try and wait till that day to do everything again. It is not always smart to get the phones when they first release anyway. I like to see what the masses are reporting about the phones. ;)

I am ditching my iphone 3gs for a...

Hey guys I am actualy ditching my iphone for a htc evo 4g from sprint.
1) Because it has a massive ass screen
2) it has a 8 megapixel camera with dual flash
3) it has a frot facing 3 megapixle camera for skype
4) it can shoot 720p video
5) it has a hdmi out
6) it has sprints wimax and (4g) connection
7) it can play HD movies and videos
8) has a 1 ghz processor
9) it has twice the ram as the iphone
10) it has a kick stand =)

Good bye apple, hello someone who listens to their customers and doesnt just wana make ********s of money!!!!!

Why not the first?

As more and more people see the cool things phones can do, the more they want there own phones to do that as well. Ever heard of XDA Devs? It's a community of well over two million members, all of which are either devs, or enthusiasts. Granted there for WinMo, and Android, but my point is the same. The more technology advances, the more capable people want there devices. 3D Tvs just came out, honestly growing up did you ever even imagine that would possible? I'm only 26, and would have never imagined there would be such things. Or wifi(or internet in general) on a plane?

if you live in one of the many 4G cities available or available before the end of the year, it's a hard choice NOT to switch to Sprint and the Evo. Their rate plan is the cheapest PLUS you'll get 4G speeds.

Hold the phone:D, pun intended. Have you checked Sprint's website? 4G is still in limited areas. More important is that not all 4G is or will be created equal. Sprint says their 4G average download speed is between 3 and 6 Mbps. AT&T's 3G is ramping up to 7.2 Mbps so don't get too excited over Sprint's 4G. I'm not knocking the phone, I think it's cool:cool:. The T-Mobile HTC HD2 is also really cool. My son just got his this week but I don't like windows mobile.

I totally agree with a lot of the posters that Apple needs to really ramp up the iPhone with something evolutionary, revolutionary and magical, etc, etc, etc, like they did with the original iPhone. It seems that everyone is catching up and passing the iPhone in a number of areas, except for the 140,000 plus apps. I'm pretty much app'd out. They could add another 100,000 apps and that would not do anything for me. I admit to being an Apple FanMan:D. I have not been a boy in over 45 years. The iPhone is getting a little boring, it needs a redesign. This summer will bring joy, I hope:apple:!

I will not. I want one :(

I understand, but look at it this way.... you might have a more improved version of it when it finally gets to you guys and gals.

I agree, but I don't think the average person is going to want to hack their phone to get those features. They will want the features set, but not if they have to jailbreak or Preware their phone.

And I 100% believe that most of those customers with the plethora of Apps will just keep waiting for Apple to give them the features instead of going and getting them for themselves.

p.s. Hell yeah! I knew there'd be a day when 3D would make a comeback. I just thought that it'd be without any kind of glasses whatsoever. 3D TVs? For sure, I cut out my first pair of red and blues from a cereal box and wondered why everything wasn't that cool.

I never thought of anything like the internet back in 1990, but I knew it was going to be widespread and wireless by 2000, the year I officially became a nerd.

Samsung is coming out with a 3-D phone. It converts 2-d video to 3-d.

http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/25565/3d-phone/ Destines for South Korea only.... But hey, it coming eventually.

I already said the Evo was a Sprint exclusive, but the phone that it's been pulled from has already been out for months around the world, and just recently on AT&T.

The Evo and HD2 are the same shell.

I believe you are mistaken, and are referring to the T-Mobile HTC HD2

Oh yes they certainly do. How else do you explain their current lawsuit against HTC? Steve Jobs is even quoted saying that HTC is their competitor.

If a company doesn't actively defend its patents, they are at risk of losing them.

That's exactly my point though, more and more 'average' users are wanting to tinker with there devices. Plus, if they can get the features they want right out of the box, and it be cheaper, why wouldnt the switch? Cause they spent $1 on a few apps? Last i read there are 30,000 apps in the android market... 60% of which are completely free.

If people are just going to wait for stuff to handed to them rather than go get it on there own, IMO they dont deserve it. That also goes back to the 'sheeple' thing i said earlier.

Really, you thought we would have 3D Tvs one day? Quite the visionary. :p

I'd say thats about the time I got into tech, maybe a couple years earlier though, because i distinctly remember burning video onto a cd in such a way that most dvd players could play them. I only remember it so well because i watched the first ten minutes of the movie Belly about 100 times checking to see if i burned it right, but it took forever to get the sound synced... but i digress, the movie came out in 1998.

I went in to a Sprint store today to inquire about pricing/plans for the EVO. Looks like the wife and I will be sharing 1500 minutes. The total cost will be $94.** a month. That's with 27% off for job. I currently pay $145.** with ATT for two iPhones. I think it's time to move on to Sprint. Cool thing is their plan is 1500 minutes that free to any mobile, anytime. You only use the 1500 when calling a land line. That's awesome! I played with my friends Hero the other day to check out the market. Apps are looking great on the Android side. I am excited to switch.

I've been waiting since the beginning of January to get a new phone in the Summer. Don't think I can handle even more waiting damn it.

Good to hear they offer discounts. I hope I can get one through my company. I can't believe how much you get for the money with Sprint. I kind of hope that Iphone doesn't come out with something more amazing....as of right now I would save 50 bucks going to Sprint and not counting monthly rates.

Heads been turned huh? Does this 'other' phones screen not rotate when you rotate the phone? Pfff....

remember there's also the replaceable battery so while I'm 99% sure that the battery life will at least match the iphones you can be safe in the knowledge that if you do decide to hammer the hell out of it then it will be a simple task of popping off the back cover and placing in a second battery for you to do some more battery intensive tasks

I had the iPhone for 2 years. I miss it at times, but never do I miss ATT and their pricing. I love Sprint. I have the HTC Hero now and have 3G in my small town. I am going to get the EVO when it comes out because my only complaint with the Hero is sluggishness at times. The EVO should fix that.

Can you get real time online billing with Sprint? Like on ATT I can get on and see a number I texted or texted me within a few minutes.

Be careful about that. If you have a max of either type you can use AT&T tends to delay how long it takes to be processed claiming it may be off 2-5 days and the best time to noticed AT&T screwing around with it is at the end and begining of billing cycles.

For example if you are pushing the limits of lets say text message they will dump everything in the last 5 days up to the last hour or so of the billing cycling on that months bill if it will push you over.

other wise you will see them dump the last 2-3 days on the next month cycle to try to eat into those messages in hopes of pushing you over that month. It was annoying as hell but I caught AT&T doing that all time time to try to push me over the limit and it was when I got slap with the one from the previous months and then a heavier usage right at the end of the cycle that they like to get me.

Yeah that phone is nice. Very nice, but I love the look and the feel of the iPhone as of right now. I kinda felt like I was cheating looking at that HTC phone. Let me wipe up the drool now.

Sorry my sweet iPhone, I promise to never look at another phone again! LOLz!;):D

Sorry, read specs first, it has a 1.3mp front facing, not 3. Regardless, still nice

After using an HD2 in-store and having owned a nexus one, droid and an iPhone, I've found out that what I really want is the bigger screen. I've gone from so-so LCD to great LCD to ok-OLED and I've found that display technology doesn't matter when the screen isn't 4.3" I'm happily looking forward to this or an iPhone with at least a 4" screen (which I don't expect to happen).

My ATT acct displays my texts within a few hours. Like if I get on there now...It shows texts today up to 10am. Tonight by 8 or so it'll have a few more hours added.
