Haven't seen it in action, but perhaps it really is functional? After all, grabbing the phone naturally puts your fingers on the back, sort of easy access and of course no need to look while swiping to unlock etc...?!

My wife returned her 5s and bought an HTC One. She uses the One much more than the 5s: larger screen, more camera features, and no Android clutter.

"More camera features?" But the One camera takes inferior pictures... Not sure why a greater number of features would make up for that.

But stop crying guys, don't be pathetic.

I get that your feelings are hurt because you own a One, but why would anyone who favors the iPhone be "crying" over the fact that the One Max seems to be poorly designed?

That's the first Android phone with a fingerprint scanner. A whole 2 years before Apple. Lets stop the pathetic 'copycat' nonsense for once...

It is true that someone else had a finger print scanner on a smart phone - as crappy as the feature was on that phone.

People love Apple products because Apple's focus is on getting it right rather than getting there first.

----------

The big issue that the Android phone manufacturers have now they have to rework their design. It was all about the screen real estate and the smallest bezel. The phone will now have to get even larger to accomidate something like what Apple has done. Just imagine, an even large Android phone without the screen being larger.

If anything, android phones should follow their own path. For example, voice recognition based security might be interesting. And it would be different.

Atrix had this type of fingerprint sensor. Apple didnt invent the wheel here guys, they just perfected it. The Apple fingerprint system is flat out awesome. I thought I wouldnt care for it when I got the phone, I was mistaken.

For me, its the one feature that sets it apart from the 5/5c.

You'd rather die, than admit you understand what they're trying to tell you, wouldn't you? You're arguing for the sake of arguing. it's unequivocally clear that you understand what they are trying to tell you. Yet you decide to argue anyway in the most condescending way. You seem like a well educated person, when 20 people quote your post, being this kind of 'right' is probably beside the point people are trying to make.

Lol....nah, I understand exactly what they are telling me. They're telling me things I already know and haven't argued against in the first place.

I understand what the author SHOULD HAVE said. But he didn't. I make the small comment that the iPhone 5s works the same way so that ONE PART of the argument doesn't hold and am bashed beyond reason for it.....

Funny because usually I'm on the other side. Never been called names and yelled at for both AGREEING that TouchID is MUCH BETTER implementation of fingerprint security and trying to be fair in disagreeing with the author's statement that it is a negative that the phone has to be awake to read the fingerprint input (because that is what the Verge clip said - if you read the second review, that author makes the distinction).

And I responded numerous times because people don't read the comments and I've had roughly 20 people say the EXACT same thing to my OP without reading any of my comments afterwards.

But hey, who am to get in the way of the defensive parade. I wish Onthecouchagain was here to see this.....he wouldn't believe it!

I know we're always joking about how phones are becoming as large as tablets.

But the iPad Mini would actually be too big to be a phone.

My wife and I always joke about this. "That person is holding an iPad to their face." I truly believe an android phone will be THAT big in the future.

If anything, android phones should follow their own path. For example, voice recognition based security might be interesting. And it would be different.

The problem I can see with voice recognition security is the enviornment where noise around the user would disupt the voice recognition or if the user is sick and the voice would be effected severly.

Aside for the fingerprint implementation shortcoming of the phone, it's an absolutely gorgeous device. Build quality, screen, and feel when using HTC One is absolutely superior in almost every way. I stick with iPhone for the iOS tho. Android still lacks when it comes to seamless integration with iMac and Macbook Air

What a dumb place to put the sensor.

Not sure why everyone is whining. When I hold my iPhone, my pointer finger supports my iPhone in the exact position where they placed the fingerprint sensor. It's actually genius, stop being fanboys.

As Bertrand Serlet once said, you can imitate but it's never quite as good as the original.

Disagree, the HTC One is a phone that I think is probably the most beautiful, it may take cues from the iPhone in a certain sense.

But that's hardly copying, I mean If you want to go down that route we could be discussing the notification bar and multi-tasking on iOS7 "borrowed" from Web OS and Android.

Or we could discuss how many of Apple's design has been inspired by Braun..

Lol - what's hilarious about this is that I'm being bashed for AGREEING Apple is better.

Laughable. Laughable on all accounts.

There are people in this thread that bash anything from anyone for any reason any time. It's sad.

Lol! I took pics with the One and the 5s side by side. Indoors the HTC does better in low light, but the 5s had slightly better resolution outdoors. The One's Zoe feature is something worth looking at, and Apple might have a similar feature on the next iPhone. HTC had burst mode on the One back in February, so I fail to see why Apple made.such a big deal about it. We can buy any phone on the market, and simply preferred the One. Enjoy your 5s experience, even if the pics are bit hard to see on that tiny screen. I did watch the Motorola vid on YouTube, and the One's front facing speakers woke everyone up!

A somewhat larger screen, and front facing speakers were on many people's 5s wishlist, but they didn't get that. So no, I don't feel bad at all..... ;)

Its not a phone, its a tablet. It also looks like htc has lost their way. So sad cause they use better materials and have a better screen than samsung.

See, the point I am trying to make went right past you, because you like to keep arguing. Again, there's the point people are trying to make and then there's that other half of the argument you grasp onto like a dog that hasn't seen food in weeks. Your argument is solid, everyone understands. Stop being so obsessed with the technacalities. "I am usually, on the other side" hurp durp. That's exactly why you should know better.

The problem I can see with voice recognition security is the enviornment where noise around the user would disupt the voice recognition or if the user is sick and the voice would be effected severly.

Its not unusual for solutions to have constraints and limitations. For example, touch sensors does't work (well) if you have gloves on.

Anyway, the point is that if Samsung knew how to "innovate", they would do something beyond monkey see/monkey do.

I think of all the Android phones, the HTC One is the best looking. I like their case design and choice of materials. Nice clean lines.

That point being its only a one-step process on the iPhone versus two+ steps on the One Max for the user? That point being this is what the author MEANT to say?

My response: Ok.

But FYI, I addressed that EARLY in this thread....again, it's not my fault people don't like to read.

I guess I could've simply said "See Post ###".

Oh well - then I wouldn't have been able to have this lovely exchange with you ;)
