Convenient how manufacturers are starting to put fingerprint scanners on the phone after Apple does it. Why didn't they start putting fingerprint scanners on their phones after Motorola did it?

Probably because they vaguely remembered that nobody cared when HP, Toshiba, and LG did the same thing before Motorola? Why would it take off if Motorola did it?

One step on the USER SIDE is ONE STEP. The HTC is more than one step to the USERS. Nobody here except for you was arguing about how the internals of iOS worked.

I agree. It's one step. First step, press home button, leave finger there and it unlocks. If you want the second step, remove finger, second step.

When you hold an iPhone, yes. Try that with a 5.9" phone.

My finger on my iPad mini is almost in the same place as well. At first I kinda thought it was a silly place to put it, but the more I think about it, the better idea I think it is.

Someone with smaller hands it might be difficult tho.

I'm an Apple fan and I much prefer the iPhone implementation....

BUT

I would like to point out that you also have to wake the iPhone before using the scanner, making that part of the argument rather moot.

I don't remember seeing a post get beat up as much as yours. The horse has been beaten, cut up in small pieces and then put back together to start the cycle all over again :D

And yet you keep trying to re-explain it...badly and most defensively I might add.

Now comes the part where you retire from battle, a bit bruised but wiser.

Ha, nah. Maybe slightly annoyed and amused though. Really funny to see responses that paint me as an Apple-hater. Do a search through my post history and you'll find out why. I've gotten into it with Android users claiming I'm a massive Apple fanboy......just hilarious to get it from the other side.

You guys took this way too seriously. I've edited my OP so hopefully I stop seeing the same few sentences regurgitated over and over again after I've already responded.

I apologize for being repetitive. I should've edited it a while ago - just assume people will at least read a few pages of comments before posting......look what assuming does!

I own no less then 8 Apple devices. All worked perfectly. Any product on the planet, each model always has problems even though it may be a very small minority of people.

Apple has a stellar return policy that covers the few items that may have problems.

You seem to prefer semantics over the vast majority that don't have any problems whatsoever.

Typical Android crap phablet, with a long list of specs .... to hide a poor realization and user experience.

I'm actually pretty amused. God, if you've read any of my exchanges with Onthecouchagain in the alternatives forum you'd be laughing your ass off at the way people are trying to paint me.

Comical :p

When you use your iPad Mini do you usually wake the device with the power button or the home button? An honest question as I am curious.

I am as big an Apple fan boy as the next guy, but honestly saying they are copying Apple with a fingerprint scanner?

Apple wasn't the first one to market with a fingerprint scanner. Just because they have it implemented well does not mean anyone else who does it is copying Apple.

I saw leaked pictures of the One Max with a fingerprint scanner on the back before it was CONFIRMED that the 5S was going to sport a fingerprint scanner. So even though it was leaked the One Max had a fingerprint scanner first they are copying Apple because Apple got their product to market first?

I really had hoped the Apple consumers were intelligent enough to distinguish between blatant copying and a company trying their damnedest to work towards what they believe is the future of phones.

Complete and utter failure. These companies have nothing better to do than copy Apple and make their phones bigger and bigger.

EDIT: PLEASE STOP QUOTING THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE OTHER COMMENTS. I'VE ALREADY RESPONDED TO ENOUGH POSTS SAYING EXACTLY THE SAME THING IN RESPONSE.

Quoted for my own amusement.

Another crap Android ripoff. I'm surprised Samsung wasn't first to the show.

Hate to bust your bubble but I had a finger scanner on my 4 year old android phone. Also any phone with a touchscreen can act as a finger scanner. Sorry Apple didnt invent anything at all.

Placing the sensor next to camera lens is a dubious decision. Placing the sensor on the back side in general does make sense for large phones though. Large screen phones have to have small bezel. Placing the sensor on the front size would make a phone bigger. I wonder what size will 5" iPhone have if Apple keeps the sensor (and a large button) where it is now. Rumor has it that Samsung is trying to place fingerprint scanner on the phone side (left or right) but this does not work very well.
We hope apple is not going to design a 5" iPhone at all ...

4.5-4.7" is the maximum I want for something supposed to be carry on ....

Not sure why everyone is whining. When I hold my iPhone, my pointer finger supports my iPhone in the exact position where they placed the fingerprint sensor. It's actually genius, stop being fanboys.

If it works for you... great.... when I hold my phone, my finger is no where near the back of the phone. For me, they'd have to put it on the side (where my finger tips end up), or... hummmmm.... the home button. A place I have to touch anyway to turn on the phone.

Looks like a nice device. Samsung gets too much credit for their Android phones. The feel and look of the HTC units I have tested are top notch, more solid, and I feel much better built (I guess I said the same thing thrice  ). I would love to see a mini version of this phone, 6" is a bit too large for my pocket.

You don't wake the phone using the sleep\wake button? ;-)

I know - I was making a small joke.....lol.

Really?!?!?! That's how it works?

Read pal....dead horse has already been buried and you're trying to dig it up to beat it some more.

Not digging. Just replying, your too sensitive and need to chill out. Just because you made a silly argument, no need to be so sensitive. lol
