So now the flagship and "flagship Plus" are the standard naming conventions for smartphone makers?
Apple DNA is just all over these guys products.

Why? You can't really use the 6/6+ series without a case anyway. It's the only iPhone I've felt that way about. A bump just allows the best camera possible in a thinner frame. Now I'd love if Apple made a much grippier and durable iPhone 7, then I can go caseless again and wouldn't want a bump.
Wow, I never realised Apple was the first ever to make different coloured mobile phones!
It's ridiculous how some people on here seem to think nothing existed in the mobile world tech space before Apple arrived... Yeah, Apple invented those colours, they have patented them and will no doubt be taking Huawei to court next week.![]()
Cupertino... start your photocopiers![]()
Yeah, considering they bought LinX 12 months ago.Rumor has it Apple is working on dual-cameras already.
Apple didn't get the idea from Huawei's press release![]()
WOW, looks like they pretty much stole Apple's colour pallet.
That actually is one of the benefits of dual cameras (or a Lytro camera). You can use them to either refocus the picture or simulate optical zoom, I personally feel optical zoom would be the most beneficial of the two because with such small sensors, pretty much everything is in focus already.Someone at Huawei marketing snorted too much speed, before coming up with that one. Sadly, it doesn't work that way, otherwise we'd already have that feature in every camera.
Yeah it will be very interesting to see how these pictures actually turn out. By removing the color filter, the B&W sensor becomes much sharper and also like 3x more sensitive (and better at high ISO) but in dark conditions it will still need the color sensor for actual colorsActually is f:2.2 , the article got it wrong. What's interesting is that the dual lenses is to feed two different sensors: one is RGB and the other is Monocrome. Not really sure what for, maybe better low light sensitivity. I'm also very curious of this laser focusing system and how it would work. In the features of the phone no "laser" is indicated. I am also doubtful about the post-focusing feature. But of course, Huawei has everything covered as you can read in the website:
"Disclaimer: specifications may change without notice, images are for illustration purpose only. Colour may vary, colours and features may not be available in all market"
What's impressive is that they got Leica to put their brand next to Huawei. I don't think it is a good move by Leica. We need to wait and see the results of this technology partnership when the first pictures come out.
No Way, Huawei.WOW, looks like they pretty much stole Apple's colour pallet.
anybody actually excited about the technology? i am... if the video isn't exaggerating the 'parallax' type separation of fore/mid/background - or the 'post-production' aspects to all of this - i'm damn excited for what apple does with it. the iPad pro 9.7(2) may end up being this (aspiring/amateur) filmmaker's wet dream this time next year..
if this tech sees light of day like that, and iMovie ramps up (or we see a FinalCut 'Light' for iOS) - expect to start seeing way more people creating a new indie-industry with their tablets... i suppose i say all this (rather than focus on the obvious average phone-photographer's enjoyment) because i'm in the pro tablet-as-camera camp. big time. even a phablet doesn't hold a candle to that sweet sweet 10" monitor.
Well considering its been rumored for months that Apple was going in this direction.... and we all know Apple releases in Sept every year....Dual cameras on a smartphone....
A gimmick in April, magical in September.

This should make all loyal Apple users happy...competition is good.
- Hardware competition arguably caught up with Apple
- that means the biggest differentiating factor in the near future will be iOS
- Which means Apple will have to redouble their efforts to make their platform that much more attractive.
