Wow, I never realised Apple was the first ever to make different coloured mobile phones!

It's ridiculous how some people on here seem to think nothing existed in the mobile world tech space before Apple arrived... Yeah, Apple invented those colours, they have patented them and will no doubt be taking Huawei to court next week.

No one owns any color or shape, but there are so many subtle shape differences and so many color combinations (pallet) one can choose from, or, in combined, many design patterns, a company can choose from. Under this circumstances, if a company still choose a design pattern combination TOO CLOSE to another competitor's hot-on-the-market product's design pattern combination, it's blatant copying (on the design, I am not talking about the underneath technology here).

Unfortunately, the current patent system has nothing to prevent this type of copying.

Dual cameras on a smartphone....
A gimmick in April, magical in September.

You're putting words in people's mouths.

By the look of it, it looks far more of a gimmick if it solves the problem of smartphone cameras not currently being able to do some of the things you can with DSLR's.

The video hinted at it, but could have done a better job.

Still, I've just got an SE, so my wish list is now a redesigned iPhone in 2017, with OIS and dual lens camera on the 4.7".

The dual camera strikes me the same way smartwatches did: when there is a rumour Apple is doing something, within months competitors roll out whatever the rumour said.

If there was a rumour iPhone 7 is going to be ****-coloured, we'd be seeing Tasteful Brown option in this Huawei phone (and all others within three months). The only company that doesn't copy others' colours is Sony... or was, because Xperia X is coming in gold, rose gold and black. I wonder how they came up with this idea? (Z5 comes in black, gross, disgusting and eww. And I own a Sony phone.)

Exactly.

Apple bought Isreali Camera company that does dual cameras last April

So Huawei goes out and makes their own version.

That's a flip phone. I said FLAGSHIP SMARTPHONE.
[doublepost=1459972123][/doublepost]

I said FLAGSHIP SMARTPHONE. I don't care about flip phones and limited release phones.

The iPhone 5s was the first flagship smartphone in gold that was a mass market item (there were special edition gold phones since the beginning of time)
This sort of discourse isn't going to get you far in life.

And yet others are very quick to accuse manufactures of copying Apple and yet turn a completely blind eye to the fact Apple copied someone else in the first place, pot kettle back etc..

You care. You responding.

My point is Apple started the trend of Gold smartphones.
Now everyone else is copying them.

I have ZERO problem with Android copying Apple's gold phones. But make no mistake most people connect the start of gold smartphones with the 5s. Copying Apple's colors exactly just makes Android tacky and clownish. Like those fake Louis Vutton bags from China.

Wouldn't touch Huawei, especially since they've been linked to spying for the Chinese government. Several of their products are banned from sale in the US due to "espionage charges", their consumer products (mainly phones) are still allowed to be sold. The last thing you need is both Huawei and Google's Android sucking up all your information and giving it to all and sundry.

It's a chinese state-owned company. Hell to the NO - don't ever trust any chinese state owned company, EVER - EVER - EVER. hardware backdoors or secret software processes running you cannot stop; who the hell knows what they are doing. If the NSA can intercept cisco routers and implant their own hardware hacks you know these chinese companies will do the same. Especially when they become ubiquitous in the USA. Google doesn't care because they need china's market.

ZTE is the other bullcrap company. Buy what you will but if you think google's privacy invasion is bad enough, you go right ahead and keep all your personal information on a HUAWEI/ZTE device.

Big difference between slavishly copying (choosing exact same colors, shapes, even packaging) and vastly improving on a technology (TouchID, multi-touch, ect)

When Android copies Apple they try to make it exactly like the iPhone.
When Apple adopts a technology they improve on it and make it more user friendly. Big difference.

Also Apple would not have copied the dual cameras. Apple purchase a company that does multiple cameras last April.

Apple will be "copying" Huawei LOL.

I hope Apple's implementation will be even better.

Using a recently-introduced-to-the-market technology around the same time can never be considered "copying", using a big package of technologies, some recent and some existed for quite a long time, in a very very similar fashion is copying.

So that visual is just a direct copy of Apple, right?

This is what happens when you manufacturer in CHINA specifically. IP Theft is insane and they don't respect anyone's IP even their own chinese companies. They have ZERO SHAME, as long as it makes a buck. But if you encroach on china's IP tech, they will raise hell. Double standards but I guess money talks and US companies like apple have no choice.

Besides, I do not want americans dying because of assembling electronics like iPhones in the USA. There are certain jobs that you shouldn't do and working around these electronics 24/7 is something of a huge health issue. All of you guys who complain apple should bring manufacturing back home - think again - why would you want to deal with toxic chemicals day in and out - and if you understood the risks involved you would think 3 times before you want to work in this area of manufacturing.

Same thing goes for blue collar workers who work with paint aerosols, manufacturing of carbon fiber material, etc - even with protective respirators you are going to get sick eventually when exposed to this stuff daily.

Whats the point in replying to you? You refuse to listen to facts. At least you've just admitted Apple copies everyone else and just 'improves on it' although some would argue otherwise.

You may be right but, honestly, the average user could care less about bezels. Same for the camera bump. These are complaints that are in heavy rotation in comment threads on tech blogs, and not many other places.

No, a lot of my non-techy friends complained about the protruding camera during casual chat.

Phone looks nice but it's a Huawei. I personally would ever buy a Chinese phone regardless of how good it is. I just about will and have accepted a Samsung flagship despite their history of plastic junk.

  • Hardware competition arguably caught up with Apple
  • that means the biggest differentiating factor in the near future will be iOS
  • Which means Apple will have to redouble their efforts to make their platform that much more attractive.
This should make all loyal Apple users happy...competition is good.

Hardware caught up with Apple a long time ago. It's been about iOS vs Android. But yes competition is always good for the consumer. For example we finally got larger screens from Apple.

I used to think I give Huawei three years to overtake Samsung but S7 appears to actually be a good phone. Not fair, Samsung, go back to removing features people want!

ha, i couldnt stand it anymore.. registered, so hi everyone))

i just wanna say.. APPLE **** YOU! The only thing that is left from the Iphone is the iOS..

love the apple products, got iMac, MacbookPro, iphone, ipad blablabla..

but man.. lately.. no innovations at all.. and the last couple of events.. its just like "Our people worked incredibly hard blablabla..", "The fastest apple product ever" (D'ohhh!! imagine if you created something slower than the previous version, although after the SE release, I wont be surprised if they do something stupid) only thing that matters is $$$$$$

frustrations are enormous from my side.. yes its still quality, but no innovations at all except for the innovative sick prices! my god.. buy a ticket to the USA, get a macbook pro and an iphone = free trip to USA!!! compared if buying those 2 items in europe!

still selling 16GB version of iphone = a freaking joke and pushing people to get the 64gb for 100 euro extra.

- The new macbook with a poor quality camera, but with a big phat price!
- ipad pro, "that could replace your laptop, according Tim", HELL NO! show me how!!! not running El Capitain.. apps aren't there yet.. keyboard 180 euro, pencil 100 euro etc.. so how the hell is this a pro?! big fail, apple big fail..
- SE should be an internal note like a few others said here, or a silent upgrade of iphone 5s

according the rumors iphone7 will not be redesigned, just a faster phone with a dual camera, and only 1 port.. oh wait, 1mm thinner! wowww!!.. where the hell is the innovation or redesign? ehm.. helloo??? battery life?! no? nothing?

im just soo pissed off, apple is ripping us off.. and we still buying their products.. once again.. only thing has left = their operating system that's freaking it!

Couldn't agree more.
