huawei is actually doing quite well outside of the U.S . several of my friends in europe has the mate 20 pro and they were previously iphone holders.

there isn't much for apple to choose from, qualcomm and huawei holds majority of the 5g patents around the world, its gonna take other companies awhile to catch up to them.

lets see how well this year's new iphone sale goes, if it does poorly, apple might consider 5g from huawei just so they can get boosted sales for 2020

I couldnt use them. I’m ethically bound to use decent security practices. For this reason we aren’t allowed to use certain software and certain devices. Others are in the same boat, because once a government has said “Huawei might be a security threat” and you decide to use their devices, if something bad happens you have no defense. They told you.
At this point we only have solid evidence that US government spied on Huawei but not visa versa. That said, given current political climate Apple would not be able to use Huawei chips in USA even if they wanted to. Foreign markets are more viable but this would still risk losing favor with US government as US, for whatever reasons, are trying to prevent all countries from using Huawei equipment.

I'm throwing on my tin-foil hat now but hear me out.... I believe that there is a secret backdoor requirement for 5G which is agreed to between US government and manufacturers. This explains the reason as to why the US government is so persistent about not wanting China involved. They know that if Huawei creates this 5G backdoor for US government then there is likelihood of China having access also, or instead they do not wish to have Huawei or China know about this backdoor plan. Don't believe that the government would do this? Remember all the things Snowden released that the government was doing to spy, but now after was exposed their capabilities are not so good because everyone using encryption etc. You honestly think that the US Government would pass on such an opportunity to implement surveillance capabilities into a brand new system that promises ability to track your every location including all the smart things you own?

Don't believe all the government nonsense with regard to Huawei. Apple should consider and should start looking seriously at their tech.

Certainly the Communist Police take them seriously: “Together with the Public Security Bureau, Huawei will unlock a new era of smart policing and help build a safer, smarter society"

But on the other hand seeing as Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou is an iPhone user maybe I'm wrong...

I’d be totally comfortable with a Huawei modem in my iPhone if I were standing in a Faraday cage. Will 5G work through that?

LOL at everyone railing against Huawei in the comments. You've all fallen for our government's misinformation campaign against them. Our allies are not so gullible, and have pushed back against our threats to cut off support and intelligence sharing if they buy from the company. Those allies asked a simple question: "Where's your proof?" They were met with crickets.

I think the Apple will be involved in the entire design to delivery process of the huawai 5g chip making process to ensure no shenanigans from this company.. otherwise no deal!

Was it reported that China is at the forefront in 5G infrastructure? If true, Apple will lose respect in China if they are late with a 5G phone. Wouldn't hurt Apple's credibility if it used Huawei parts in that country.
