It is sad to read nonsense! Huawei are competing with Lenovo and others who have already released such devices long before there were serious rumours about any folding device from Apple. Nobody develops a product because of an Apple rumour. It is the other way around: Apple spreads such rumours to link coming innovations from others with their own name. This has been Apple's standard operations procedure for years.
Interesting theory. To support it though you would need to prove that Apple purposely leaks R&D. Also any examples of when “linking innovations from others to their name” has ever happened. Also why there would be any financial benefit to do this when the mainstream doesn’t pay attention to rumors, but if a competitor brings the technology to market first then Apple stands to lose sales on their later product.
In other words, besides there being no evidence of this (that I know of), it just doesn’t sound like a smart strategy even in theory.

Or they were working on this long before Apple and that’s why they beat them to market

Unless you have some evidence that shows otherwise?
We don’t know how long either company has been working on it, do we? There’s no evidence of who started first or of anything except that Huawei beat Apple to market.

It's sad to see how one of the most innovative chinese makers, even in terms of smart watches, went down on to copy existing or rumored Apple designs.
It looks like they're copying the unreleased Surface Neo right down to the keyboard accessory sitting on the bottom screen. Main difference is they're making it a foldable display instead of two separate displays.

It’s a copy of a product that’s still in development stage.

Why jump to the conclusion that it's a copy of an unreleased product rather than something they developed themselves?

or if they are copying something, how about one of the similar devices that already exist.

if anything apple is going be one of the last vendors to release a device like this, hardly seems like anyone is copying them

That’s literally the article MacRumors posted. Maybe in some alternate universe China doesn’t steal our ideas and copy them, but not in this universe. Even MacRumors came to this conclusion. I have friends in China, but I’m not going to pretend not to see the obvious.

It’s sad to see so many people here have no idea how much Huawei pushes the boundaries (or how Chinese companies only copy). As someone who lives in HK, I get the chance to see all new Huawei products (as well as Xiaomi) just on the other side of the border. I always get amazed on how good their products are.

I’m still stuck with Apple, but day by day Huawei pushes me closer to using their products. Their new HarmonyOS pcs look pretty good.

It’s no surprise that Huawei rips off Apple
Products. That’s how it works there…they copy a famous foreign brand, keep them from
Competing, and continue to laugh. I still have a huawei matebook pro that was sold for a short time in North America. It looks EXACTLY like a MacBook Pro. I take it out into public sometimes and I still get people coming up to ask me what apple product it is because they never seen it before.

I'm a little confused how a launching product may get mistaken for an Apple product that doesn't exist? 🤔

exactly! the ffact is chinese companies are ahead of Apple, maybe apple aits until it's perfect, ut sometimes you get so far behind, you can't catch up (apple Intelligence)

Please show us where in the MacRumors article they claim that this product is a copy of an apple product

Even MacRumors came to this conclusion.
again, where in the article is this?

I’m not going to pretend not to see the obvious.
The only thing obvious here is that Huawei has joined several other companies in beating apple to market with this type of device. something they likely all have been working on. that doesn't mean anyone is copying anyone else. but the idea that everyone is copying apple when they are the last to market is just obviously silly

Maybe in some alternate universe China doesn’t steal our ideas and copy them, but not in this universe.

sorry who's ideas? do you work for apple?

That thing is one of the worst conceived computers that I have ever seen. I’d actually prefer a Vision Pro.

It’s not about beating someone to the market with a particular device, but when the device looks exactly the same, then it’s just a copy.

sorry who's ideas? do you work for apple?
No, I don’t work for Apple? That would be a great job but no. Do you work for Huawei or the CCP?

To say that an object could be mistaken for another object is not the same thing as saying that an object is a copy of another object.

So again, where does the article say that this is a copy of an apple product? I've read the article over and over and can't find where it makes that claim.

It’s not about beating someone to the market with a particular device, but when the device looks exactly the same, then it’s just a copy.

How do you know it looks exactly the same as a theoretical device that doesn't even exist‽‽

If you don't work for apple, then who are you referring to when you claim China steals "our ideas?"

If something is so similar that it could be mistaken for it that means it’s a copy. I’m not sure why that’s confusing.

Because it looks exactly what the leak said the device would look like. Is this really hard to understand?

As in the USA. I live in the USA, so yes, our ideas. I noticed you didn’t answer my question. I hope the job pays well.

You might be surprised to see Lenovo and Asus had commercially released this kind of foldable laptop a few years ago.

It really does not mean that at all. Two things can look similar without one being a copy of another. I'm not sure why that is so confusing for you. At any rate, even if one is a copy of another, who is to say who is doing the copying?

Because it looks exactly what the leak said the device would look like. Is this really hard to understand?

Can you point us to the leak that describes a device that looks exactly like this?

I wasn't aware that the USA had nationalized its corporations so that their ideas belong to all of you. Now that sounds like the CCP ;)

The original article states that it’s “only available in China right now”

For now. Doesn’t mean you won’t be able to try it eventually.

Unless you are in the USA apparently. Had no idea certain brands were banned from that country

"Huawei tends to be fond of Apple aesthetics"

An euphemism. It's 90 % plagiarism (just look at the icons), protected by the Chinese government and endured silently by Apple.
Imagine the same thing from a non-Chinese competitor. Apple would sue them without hesitation.
