Some people seem to be able to manipulate the minds of people around them at scale which allows them to fail upward. It’s a crazy quality, but on full display. For instance. Tesla’s are immensely boring and unattractive by car standards, the Truck he showed is horrific far beyond the scale of an Aztec which I never thought could be possible. I’ve seen designs by 9 year olds that were better. But he has people clamoring for that thing and laughs all the way to be bank. Small businesses barely pay themselves to keep from going under and this guy was crowned a Billionaire while his companies were loosing billions in venture capital investments.
That’s humdrum biz as usual. There’s nothing “usual” about what’s going on at TwitterSo they’re quitting which is their right. Twitter is giving them severance. Why is this front page news all over the world? Amazon and Meta are laying off tens of thousands and that’s not getting the scrutiny that people freely quitting Twitter are. Why?
With $44B, Musk could’ve paid off the US national debt, essentially ‘owning’ America, or at least Congress.wait! We’ve spent trillions on welfare programs and climate initiatives and Elon could have saved humanity for only $44B???
Maybe we could get him to buy the US government, too!
Funny you should mention South Korea, because they were a dirt poor agricultural society post split and their industrialization happened artificially with US money, which as you might have learned during black history week, is quite firmly the result of colonialism.I don't have to, you are the one claiming the earth does not revolve around the sun, the onus is on you to prove the historical examples where collective farming worked in a country as large as America or modest sized countries, and detail the economic reasons those examples worked, because a simple reading of history is littered with collective farming failures, where attempts to alter traditional methods of farming to the collective have resulted in millions of people starving to death.
As far as your capitalism screed, filled with empty rhetoric, no facts, nice buzzwords but without any evidence and statistics, it is just empty noise.
And once again you are aware that we are living in a time when the greatest percentage of people are not living in poverty, I hope you realize that but judging by what you wrote it appears you are clueless on this front.
I wonder too, how did South Korea become such a rich country, all of those colonies they never owned.
He didn’t make any of that stuff. Does he make it via osmosis? You get credit for making something just because you’re the CEO? What about the efforts of other people?Or a guy who makes self driving cars, amazing rockets, and free speech (open source code).
But I get it, Elon haters spend more time talking about him than Elon lovers. Lmao
First of all implying that Twitter with its over 10K (7500 employees & 5000 contractors), only has 100 people doing the majority of the work, is incorrect. There are over 100 teams at twitter, a bunch of them have no people now, by your math, some of the teams had noone that does work, and all the other teams have the majority of the work done by a single person. Also all Elon has done is lower compensation at every turn. First of all he fired half the employees. Virtually noone does nothing, and everything that 1/2 of the employees were doing now has to be done by someone else. We had a 10% reduction in force at my employer and the extra workload was nightmarish, losing 50% is a nightmare to all of Twitter, and then throw in firing 80% of the contractors and everyone has 3-4x as much work as before. Add to that Elon now by saying you now have to come into the office a minimum of 40 hours a week (Gas, parking, drive time, etc) , no free food (more money) and oh btw I need 80+ hours a week from you. Understand most of Twitter are salaried, they get paid the same for 40 hours as they do for 80+ hours, this is classic Elon, you only have to look at his 2021 email to all the employees at SpaceX, when he told them they may go bankrupt if everyone took their 4 day Thanksgiving Holiday weekend instead of saving the company. Same message this year (Bankruptcy), different company but again, you need to work super hard for Twitter 2.0, because I bought the company, and borrowed the money for it instead of selling another 13 Billion in stock, and the company really doesn't have the cash flow to pay the note I took out, so I decided to make the advertisers mad and implemented a feature (Cool blue Check), that costs me $12 in revenue per person using it per month. Yeah ELON!!!

Welcome to the thread! Yes, it brings in all kinds, even those that aren’t interested… but JUUUST interested enough to click.I see why MR reports Twitter now. I don’t get the interest here but apparently people here love it. Maybe apple should’ve bought it instead lol
but he probably doesn’t expect morale to be high. That’s the problem, very few of the people here actually work for Twitter. MacRumors morale is irrelevant. It’s his company, he can do what he wants. If he runs the company into the ground that’s on him. These people aren’t going to be homeless. Twitter is not the only place in the world to work. Not only that, it seems most are getting an arguably fair severance. Everyone needs to calm down. Especially consider it doesn’t involve them. Except for the ones it does.It might be because of his horrendous managerial skills? You don't buy a company, fire 88% of the staff, and expect morale to be high. He wants the remaining staff to be the tip-top 1% of workers, assuming that those he's got rid of were useless. If the entire infrastructure team and the team that maintains the core libraries that everyone at Twitter uses have resigned or been fired because they were in the useless 99%, then who in the 1% is going to take over? Where do they get the domain knowledge from? Everyone who knew anything has gone.
And yet, his managerial skills are exhibited there, too. Elon Musk didn't invent the rockets or write the code that runs them, he just employed people who knew what they were doing. At Twitter, he's used a scattergun and got rid of the people who knew what they were doing.
Because he's an a$$. He does "weird stuff" that ends up breaking the law, or calling people a paedophile. That's just not on. Calling it "weird stuff" is to lessen the impact that he has, and to make excuses for his behaviour. Anyone else would be fired for calling someone a paedophile, but because it's Musk and he does "weird stuff" that's suddenly okay?!
Why would the US government bail out a private company with about 700 employees?
The people who moderated the content on Twitter have gone, meaning there won't be any moderation. The result of that is that there will be more hate speech, fake news and misinformation, not less. You really think the moderators were sitting there allowing everything through?
Musk has shown in the last three weeks that he is an absolute idiot, and unfit to run any company the way he does. He's taken a great company and destroyed it.
Very interesting.
So of the 10 000 teams, Elon should be able to terminate 9 900 teams, as the 100 left "are doing most of the job". Save 99% of employee cost while getting the same work done.
The really clever thing is what comes next. Because "In behaviour economics, we learned that the number of employees doing most of the work in a team or company can be calculated by the square root of the total employees." So of these 100 teams, only 10 are needed. In this second wave Elon fires 90 teams, because the 10 left are doing most of the job.
With the knowledge of behaviour economics, he fires 6 of the 10 teams left in the third wave.
In the fourth wave, he fires the 2 bad teams of the 4 left.
In the fifth wave, he fires the last teams.
Being Elon, he should be able to accomplish this in a week, ending up with running the entire company alone.
Honestly, I'd like to see another company, like Automattic (parent company of WordPress) take it over, in a partnership with a network of nonprofit public media outlets (NPR, PBS, CBC, Chicago Public Media, ARD, BBC, Philadelphia Inquirer, etc.).I don’t think it’s out of the question.
Well, that's a bold statement. Care to explain how?Good for Elon. I don't doubt that Twitter will be much improved.
"Always be Firing. Always be Hiring" That is the only way
Nevermind Twitter. I’m just very happy Musk was never welcomed to our garden back when he asked for an audienceI see why MR reports Twitter now. I don’t get the interest here but apparently people here love it. Maybe apple should’ve bought it instead lol
I bet the ones that stay, work hard and excel will get VERY RICH
I know - something hard to understand for those who are offended when it rains
And, who try to crap on everyone else’s success
4-1.65= n
The current national debt is about $31 trillion dollars. Elon's $44 billion would reduce that to.... $30,956,000,000,000.With $44B, Musk could’ve paid off the US national debt, essentially ‘owning’ America, or at least Congress.
Scary to think what Musk could do to/with America at his beck and call.
Instead, he bought out Twitter which he’s slowly destroying.
May do it by Dec. if he wants a tax write off.
Is he paying more for people who are staying? Musk is a new slave master?
Maybe payroll will be dispersed in Dogecoin this week. How’s he going to pay? The finance team just walked out.
