If I were a Twitter employee and had any options whatsoever ... I'd get away from this egomaniac nut job
Might want to Google it, but from what I remember Tesla is the only American auto manufacturer that repaid all of their subsidies and loans and did it years early.
Awesome! You showed them. Yet you are HERE talking about it stillI've stopped using Twitter the day he took over the company.
The math isn't correct for large numbers. Literally that system would show us that there is one overachiever working at each Starbucks in the US, AND NOONE ELSE IN THE U.S. is an overachiever. I don't think thats correct, though I do believe that there is one overachiever in each Starbuck, because every story by a barista at Starbuck, begins about how they are the hardest worker at the Starbucks. Also that isn't Parento Principle, you are much more talking about Price's Law, but ignoring the 50% issue. 100 people can't run Twitter, probably the 1000 they are said to have left can't run Twitter well. It has fewer employees now then anytime since 2012, and there is alot more going on at Twitter since that time.
it does matter. EVERY US auto manufacturer took them. EVERY ONE. Yet, Tesla has been the ONLY one to pay them back. How come you don't cry about Ford or GM not paying theirs back? That's what you SHOULD be upset about. They also took additional bailouts from other countries (Canada). You just want to hate Elon Musk SO BAD, that he can't do any right, no matter what he does.Glad they repaid it
But ... the point is...If the subsidies and government help hadn't been there -- they'd be dead and gone.
Musk's "genius" wouldn't have saved them
I was neutral at best although TBF, I didn't really hear much about him (nor did I bother to find out much about him either). I only know some stuff about Microsoft, Google, and Apple execs b/c of MR (although it did irk me to hear some people do worship Jobs and Cook).I can’t believe people worship this guy. It’s unreal.
The Pontiac Aztec was a car that fell out of the Ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, then someone walked over and started beating it with the Ugly Stick. You made me laugh, and look this is all subjective but I agree, one look at the cybertruck and I am amazed at the presales, I'm not even certain what you mean by "beyond the scale of an Aztec" but I find it hilarious, the apes at the beginning of the movie, "2001" could have designed a more attractive truck.

That’s a more interesting proposition… and I’d guess it’d have to be an international set of people, but then that feels like a “too many cooks in the kitchen” situation. As a quasi-government entity, every government would want their say on what and who is and is not allowed.Honestly, I'd like to see another company, like Automattic (parent company of WordPress) take it over, in a partnership with a network of nonprofit public media outlets (NPR, PBS, CBC, Chicago Public Media, ARD, BBC, Philadelphia Inquirer, etc.).
Automattic have the tech skills to make things work at scale, and having it overseen by public media keeps it transparent and accountable, and provides infrastructure for fact-checking when needed.
It's clear that Twitter is something closer to global essential infrastructure for communications, business, and small-d democracy, and it shouldn't be in the hands of people who may, intentionally or not, ruin it. We wouldn't give the telephone network to a honey badger, either!
How is there even a Twitter “in the long run” when the “trash” that is leaving or getting fired is actually running the machinery behind the scenes and no advertisers want to associate with the owner of the company? And no users want to pay $8/month for something that was free for more than ten years?
If Elon didn’t need the “trash” then he would have fired everyone post his takeover. And he certainly wouldn’t have backtracked on his whole “hardcore work hours to save Twitter or leave with severance” plan that 75% of employees hated.
Get your heads out of your Teslabot infested mars fantasies and take an earnest look at the jackass single-handedly running Twitter into ground.
-He’s the owner and calls all the shots yet somehow he’s not potent enough as a leader to make it a success? It’s everyone but his fault? But he’s at the same time a genius? And he’s just too amazing that’s why his Twitter engineers can’t stand him?
Come on!
We know you muskrats love to lick billionaire boots. But do you have to spell it out for us? 👏🤣
actually I was going to suggest the same for you....not all leaders lead the same way. There are books on the subject you could get from Amazon. Like Apple you should think different......Actually, it's true. You should study up on what makes a good leader...
It’s scary what marketing can do. Give you education, skills and achievements that aren’t yours.
Obviously, he helped fund the stuff Tesla has put out, sort of. But anyone who’s read his research works knows that he’s neither a scientist or an academic, and he’s certainly not inventing anything that actually works.
Just go through the story on how he “invented” maglev vactrains for his Hyperloop project.
Absolute buffoonery that never has and never will materialize into anything at all.
I’m also pretty certain most people who know about Elon are sure he founded Tesla and invented or reinvented the electric car.
Or PayPal.
Best con of the last two decades. I’ll give him that with no caveats.
And the “sad” thing is that he didn’t even found PayPal. The origins of PayPal have nothing to do with Elon. You’re right that marketing is able to shift narratives. But there’s also a curious narrative going on although it’s not unique to the US. It’s the narrative that those who are rich are deserving and somewhat unconsciously are given a wide berth and standards of skepticism are lowered. Rich doesn’t mean intelligent or deserving. It’s scary what marketing can do. Give you education, skills and achievements that aren’t yours.

Y’all are funny. This is how you rebuild a company and make it a whole new successful thing. Just relax. It’s obviously going to be a transitory period. Watch and see for sure. Good stuff.
He IS a man, baby, yeah!It was good the US Government handed out subsidies to see Tesla through (they wouldn't even be here anymore without that)
Elon is mostly a con, jerk and man baby
This is not accurate. GM paid back their entire bailout in advance with interest. Ford didn’t even take TARP funding.it does matter. EVERY US auto manufacturer took them. EVERY ONE. Hundreds of Twitter employees today resigned from the company rather than opting in to be part of "Twitter 2.0" under Elon Musk, according to The Verge. Musk earlier this week told workers that Twitter will be "extremely hardcore" going forward, with employees expected to put in long hours at high intensity. "Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade," he said.

Musk on Wednesday sent out a Google form and asked employees to respond "Yes" by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday if they wanted to stay at the company. Hundreds decided not to, and have said their goodbyes in Slack and on Twitter. Departing employees will receive a severance package.
When he took over Twitter, Musk laid off approximately half of the 7,500 employees that were at the company at the time, and since then, he has continued firing employees who have been critical of him, including longtime engineers.
Twitter employees that spoke to The Verge said that given the number of people that have left, Twitter could "start breaking soon" and that it will be "extremely hard for Twitter to recover."
With the exodus of employees, Twitter temporarily closed all office buildings and suspended badge access. According to Zoë Schiffer, Musk and his team are "terrified employees are going to sabotage the company."
In the final hours ahead of the deadline, Musk reportedly attempted to convince employees to stay. Bloomberg says that key staff were brought into meetings and Musk also walked back his in-office work demands. He had said that all employees needed to work from the office 40 hours a week, but today he said that working from home was allowed with monthly in-person meetings and managerial approval.
At the current time, Musk's first initiative is on pause as Twitter makes changes. Last week, Twitter introduced a more expensive $8 version of Twitter Blue that included a verification badge, and it turned out that debuting widespread verification led to account impersonation that impacted numerous companies.

He'll keep all the H1-B workers. The way I see it, if there is a compelling incentive to be "hardcore", they will be. Asking people to put extra hours for no incentive, who'd do it? Nobody shares the same vision as Elon, and nobody gives a **** if he turns the company around and make the company more profitable.
Most people in the company cares about how much he or she makes and for what. If they are all hourly paid and putting extra hours meant more money, I bet more people would gave it a thought and decided to stay.
If you are engineers at twitter, you are pretty qualified already and can find another jobs at different tech company. Twitter is not the only company and you are not that desperate..
If it's that desparate, sure.. Elon's **** show may work.. But it's not that terrible for tech engineers atm..
I think it’s too late anyway, I would suspect most companies arent going to trust Twitter with their brand after the last couple weeks. Also big ad buys often have a lot of personal communication with the ad folks and the company buying - and pretty much all the people who built those relationships are now goneOnce Elon realizes that he will have to kick out the haters in order to remain advertising friendly, the same people lauding him now will whine and cry about how Elan is some Illuminati controlled sell out, or whatever the conspiracy du jour is at that moment, the victim mentality is strong among their brethren.
By non-woke you mean racist, sexist, antisemitic, islamophobic, homophobic etc I assume
