Dude, stop giving everyone false information. You are not using CarPlay wirelessly because nobody can. There is no system that is available with wireless Carplay yet, regardless of the car company

I'm not giving misinformation at all. Maybe you should do research before you claim this to another person. Wireless CarPlay is an option, just on select cars. See picture below.

For anyone wondering, the download is available at: https://www.hyundaiusa.com/MyHyundai/softwaredownload

Wow Android Auto is extremely nice! I'll try out carplay tomorrow with my wife's phone. Waze just announced AA support soon, I can't wait. Also using AA over WiFi will be nice when it's released. I just got a ton more appreciation for my phone, makes me feel like a 16 year old with his first Kraco radio.

I'm curious, does anyone know the manufacturer of the stereo in the upgradeable cars? I have a 2016 Subaru with a stereo made by Clarion. Seeing this update gives me hope, and if the hardware was similar (or the same) that would be interesting.

Took forever to install on my 2015 Sonata Limited Turbo. Took about 2+ hours to download (even though I have 300 mbps connection), then it took 2 minutes to unzip, another 40 minutes to copy to the SD card, then it took another 30 minutes to install on the car (and you have to leave the engine running the whole time, no less). At least I have it now. So far so good.

My brand new Honda CRV has the same display system as the Carplay-equipped Civic. Makes me wonder if or when I will get an update.
If you ask Honda nicely, they will laugh you off the planet for requesting a backward firmware update. (Well, maybe not laugh, but they will say no doing.)

3. I was not able to get Carplay to work via Bluetooth
As far as I know, CarPlay does not work over bluetooth, only wired. You still get bluetooth audio and streaming, which the car switches to (or from) as you connect / disconnect the cable. (EDIT: I'm referring specifically to current model Hyundai's with this statement)

From http://www.tomsguide.com/us/apple-carplay-faq,news-18450.html
How do you connect your iPhone to CarPlay?
There's no wireless Bluetooth option. To pair an iPhone with a vehicle you have to plug it into the dashboard with a Lightning cable.

Anyone have lists of apple car play apps. I might just make one

http://www.carplaylife.com/category/apps/

This is the best list I could find. It's mostly apps from radio stations (makes sense right), but hopefully we start seeing more apps now that there is so much growth of car models with CarPlay. Waze would be awesome, but who knows if it'll make it through App Store Approval.

Notice how your screenshot DOESN'T have an available car listed? You're acting like you can use it, which you can't, neither can ANYONE ELSE. Stop misleading people and do your own research to find that, let me be clear here, NO CAR MAKERS HAVE WIRELESS CARPLAY AVAILABLE YET. Look it up. Apple has made the feature available in iOS, but no maker has it integrated yet, Hyundai claims Apple hasn't really made the API for it fully available, either.

Actually that is not true the upcoming BMW line will have wireless carplay

Again, if you read, I said no carmakers have wireless carplay available YET. Not sure how I could possibly be more clear, nor how that is "not true". The upcoming BMW line, that is not out yet, is supposed to have it, though it is unclear whether it actually is released with it, or whether it will be an update, either way, it is not out yet.

Fixed that for you.

BMW has NOT been the pinnacle of Apple adoption in the past. Now granted there seems a possibility they will roll out wireless CarPlay later this year in the X5M and X6M SUVs: http://9to5mac.com/2016/05/20/bmw-apple-carplay-x5-x6-m/

While that is promising, let's not lose sight of the fact that the X5M pricing starts at US$99,975 and can easily exceed $106,000 MSRP... That's not a car many of us are likely to be buying this year. :D

All of which is moot as there are no current-production cars offering wireless CarPlay, as stated previously.

Who asked for a backward update? I asked for an update which adds Carplay. I don't care what version number they call it.

That's what a backwards update is, at least by many people's definition. It's an update that adds functionality that didn't previously exist and hadn't been previously promised.

To me, a backwards update is when the user wants to roll back to an older version (e.g. downgrading).

Given the hardware is likely identical, there is no reason to believe it isn't possible.

So can someone answer some questions for me regard CarPlay and installing it in a 2016 Hyundai.

Does this replace the current software installed completely or is it a bolt on?

How does it function?

What benefits/funtions does it have that the current system doesn't?

Thanks!
