Well they're becoming official for legal use, so there's that.

I never had a fake ID but some girls I knew my freshmen year in college did. They even scanned properly when checked for legitimacy. I'm notnsurr a digital fake is any easier to fool a police officer with. They can look you up in ten seconds flat.

As a side note, I love how people are saying to carry cash for safety's sake. How on earth am I going to be safer with cash in my wallet?
Cash is something that is accepted by anyone and everywhere, and you aren't reliant on a third party.

I've seen on occasion communication issues with companies and their credit terminals, where they temporarily only accept cash. There's also the chance that Apple would be down for a short while and not apple to process Apple Pay, or your credit card company could put a hold on your account due to suspicious activity. What if they do that and you don't have cell service, and you need to buy gas?

Doesn't anyone keep their driver's license in the glove box in their car? That is where my insurance card is also. No problems in countless years and never got my car broken into. I never thought about a copy of my DL if I got pulled over but it is in the glove box regardless.

I use my DL for identification when I return something to Best Buy, never really needed it any store or for any transactions per sue. If I feel I needed it I would just take it out of the glove box and carry it with me in my pocket.

Some inconvenience stores and the like require a minimum for payment to use a CC so I just carry $20 around with me also. I carry one CC with me when I know I'll need it and I understand there are unforeseen emergencies but really those are so few and far between for most people.

I just checked and since I have the Plus, I need to wait till Feb 1st for the case I would want.

Until you go out with friends, either they drive or you take public transportation, and realize you can't go to a bar as you left your ID in your car.

I love how people on this forum try to tell others to do things the same way they do without taking differing situations in to consideration.

I think they're the same people who like to dictate whether it's fair someone can buy a system that fits their needs or not based on whether their uses are deemed "professional" or not by their self-interested narrow minded standards of what they want out of their future or current Mac :)

Going wallet-less without cards has to prove to me most everything is covered with this or Apple Pay. I would be leary for awhile until it has shown me all systems are a go for my specific lifestyle.

Mr UPS will be delivering my Loop Pay Fob today.

UPS will not be making any deliveries today where I live, man the snow blowers and shovels. :)

I've been on the search for a perfect 6 Plus case to keep my ID and one credit card but I've not found anything I like yet.

Apple pay + ID + one credit card = Goodbye wallet

Now if only I had one of those cars that don't need keys and you can use an app to open/start etc.

I can start my car with my iPhone with drone. Technically I could always leave my smart key in the car and lock my car with the app.

Those are the keywords. People come here and share what works for them and then others jump in and tell them why they're wrong. :)

Actually I was wrong, it is the USPS delivering the package. And there is no snow in sunny Florida today so the trucks will be rolling.:D

After having my purse stolen in '13, I would LOVE to go wallet free. My stuff was taken by the felony lane gang, and the ID is the most important thing for them to get their hands on. If we had digital ID, it would be considerably harder for them to steal your identity and money. Here's to hoping that OH gets on board with the digital ID ASAP!!!

What car do you drive? I have a plug in prius but the smart option was only available on the advanced model so I'm stuck having to carry my keys. Although it is nice to never have to take the keys out of my pockets, I'd prefer to not carry them at all!

How can you leave your key in the car and lock it with the app? I use the OnStar app and it will not allow me to use the lock function if it detects my fob is in the car.

I have a Chevy Malibu with push-to-start and OnStar. It's awesome to never dig my keys from my purse, but you still have to carry the fob around as it will not unlock if the fob isn't within 3' of the car and won't start if the fob isn't in the cabin with you (tried putting my purse in the trunk once and it wouldn't start). It would be sweet if the car could have something like NFC and you could touch ID to unlock and start the car without having to carry the fob!!! *wishful thinking*

We're close to being wallet-less...if we could also go key-fob-less...can you just imagine walking out the door with JUST your iPhone?!?! Gosh that would be awesome!!

Lol, you don't use a wallet, but carry your license in your pocket, stuff cash in you pocket and sometimes have to bring a credit card for places like restaurants? Lol. Okay. Good luck with that.

Have you used Apple Pay before? You don't need cell service. The phone doesn't communicate with Apple when processing a transaction. It merely sends the terminal some numbers as if you have swiped the card.

I've even used Apple Pay in airplane mode.

OT but
What is up with UPS giving packages to the USPS. They gave one of my Amazon packages to USPS who says they attempted to deliver my package on SUNDAY! The office gate was locked and yet the USPS said they left the box at my front door! The front door to the office is several hundred feet away from the gate.

Still no sign of the box and someone got over $300 in merchadise that I am not having to pay for!

Now to work on my next project, getting rid of keys. Does anybody know how the Viper Smart Start would work to retrofit smartphone door unlocking and ignition starting with your phone?

I already have PIN pad door locks on the house so I don't need house keys.

I think they call it "Smart Post" as somehow it saves UPS and FedEx money to hand it off to USPS.

UPS has been having USPS deliver the last mile for a year or so in many cases. I am sorry about your losses. Weren't you following the tracking number? You would have seen the Sunday delivery coming and could have made plans.

That is such an awful idea. What happens when you come out to your car to find its battery dead and unable to power the Viper system, and your keys are miles away? You won't even be able to get in your car to pop the hood to jump start it. That's why cars with smart key systems still have a normal key hidden in the fob as a backup.

Agreed

It amazes me the things people are willing to do, just to use their iPhone/Apple Pay.

I always have a normal key hidden in a magnetic key box somewhere on the car. Even with regular key starting vehicles. Especially after getting my keys run over by a freight train....long story.

The smart start will just be the primary way of starting the car.
