And when Apple developes another type of biometric authentication, we will see threads stating Face ID sucks blah blah blah.

I hear that won't be all it's cracked up to be. Sorry - felt a little cheeky there.

What's with the disclaimer in every post, even if it is really obvious?
Just trying to keep from getting banned again.

Showered about an hour ago, try to unlock my iPhone, Touch ID fails, have to enter passcode
Happens enough times to start hating Touch ID
Update:
Guys, I just successfully registered the knuckle of my thumb as Touch ID. Works like a charm, even minutes after shower. My problems solved. I don't hate Touch ID anymore. Thank y'all for the input.
It’s just a process of Apple moving from one cluster**** to another one. Both are disastrous. Both are unreliable to an extent. The only difference is which one is even worse.
I think the better route is to have multiple biometric recognition. Not only it's more secure, it provides a fallback option/alternative.
Looking forward, I can see FaceID to be an "invincible" biometric, and it will just work seamlessly (you looking at the phone, automatic unlock). And then for more secure things, a second biometric like TouchID can be used. So maybe we won't realize "FaceID" in the future. It will be just built-in and automatic (phone is unlocked when you look at it, phone is locked when you are not). Just a guess.
The reason some of us like TouchID so much is probably because Apple did it so well. It's not so rosy in the Android camp. I have multiple Android phones with fingerprint sensor, and they all only have good detection in the beginning. Through time, almost all of them are either unreliable or becomes slow. TouchID is the only one that is consistent (until there's too much grime on the sensor, of if the finger is wet).

Come on now. We are talking about Apple here. It wouldn't be Apple if they didn't force you to use what they want you to use because it's what's best for you but you just don't know it yet.I think the better route is to have multiple biometric recognition. Not only it's more secure, it provides a fallback option/alternative.

To be fair, if you have both in a device at the same time, then it’s only as strong as the weaker option.
The fallback has always and likely will always be a passcode.
So why do they give us an options for passcodes? That 4 digit passcode is pretty weak.

4 digits are fine, provided you enabled the "Erase Data" option (after 10 failed passcode attempts).I didn’t know you could still do 4 digit passcodes. It made me switch to 6 digits a while ago. 4 digits isn’t great as there are only 10,000 possible combinations, but it’s better than a pattern or something.
fwiw, you can also have no security.. press the home button and it opens. So why do they give us an options for passcodes? That 4 digit passcode is pretty weak.
if i didnt have a wife who went through my phone i too would have no security.fwiw, you can also have no security.. press the home button and it opens.
(my daughter uses her phone this way)
No. This is not a hyperbole. This is exactly what they are doing right now.Hyperbole much?
