iPad I detest cases and covers

I'm not trying to act superior bc I think humility is the most important quality. I just hate that covering up these beautiful products with some idiotic case is so universally done. What is even the point of having such a beautiful thing

What an idiotic post. At first I thought it was a joke. I've had 3 iPads and 4 iPhones. I've dropped them maybe three times. One time the result was a shattered screen. It's called an accident for a reason. I'm very careful but stuff happens. I use a smart case to protect it from scratches and I love it.

I love the device with and without a case. For the iPad I have the Apple smart case and the otterbox defender. I love the smart case portability but I love the defender's protection because I chose to purchase it at microcenter w/o the extra warranty. In my opinion it has a really nice feel to it.

I use the otterbox defender and the Apple leather case for my iPhone 5s. As much as I like the feel of the naked iPhone, I want to protect my investment. I have big hands and the defender feels pretty good. The Apple case is nice because of how slim it is and the feel of the leather is great.

Most importantly for both is the ability to switch between cases and going without a case. It makes me appreciate the slim device as is even more.
 
OP, 'hate' is one of the strongest words in the English language. If you really 'hate' people who use cases (not to mention an entire culture) you really have issues.

One has to wonder that if something that is such a personal choice to people makes you hate them what other things also cause you to 'hate'. Religion, politics, color of ones skin, country of origin, etc. I have a feeling it's only something you dislike and don't understand. You might want to dial down the hyperbole a bit.

As for cases, I use on when traveling. On a recent flight I had just closed my case up due to turbulence and the guy next to me lost control of his drink and basically threw coke all over my iPad. Had I not had it in the case I'm quite sure that sticky mess would have made it into at least one of the ports. Wasn't his fault, just an accident. But thank goodness (and common sense) that I had a case on it. If I choose to use a case regardless of why it's my business and if you choose to 'hate' me for it I guess that's your problem. I personally don't care what you think of me.

And the 'beauty' of the device? Well some people actually buy it for what it can do, not for what it looks like.
 
Unlike Apples laptops-- the ipad despite its improved design cues does not provide much aesthetic buzz. And on a practical level, cases really improve usability and provide some protection

Apple finally got smat case right in 2013. Smart cover is improved, but still does not impress me

Shorter: I hate anyone who doesn't think like me.

Personally, I hate unnecessarily verbose people, especially college graduates. And herring. No love for herring.

OP has a strong opinion about cases and covers. Whether I agree with his or not, I see his points.

Yes, many cases are really ugly (my opinion). I find the naked iPad uncomfortable to use (my opinion). I found the SmartCase beautiful and make the iPad very comfortable (my opinion).

Everyone has their opinion, and an opinion cannot be judged.

I hate big and bulky cases such as otterbox cases, and most of the time it's just overkill. I would never put that on any of my devices, but I don't care if other people want to. I originally went caseless with my iPhone 5, but I hated having to constantly baby my phone so that the back wouldn't get scratches, so I just put a thin case on it. Not sure why you hate someone for something that doesn't affect you in anyway. It's obviously a personal issue.
 
I also dislike putting my gadgets in cases, but I realized that my gadgets can get easily scratched on certain surfaces and so put light covers on them.

My iPad 4 currently sits in a Griffin case, in 2weeks time my iPad will be a year old yet it still looks like I just bought it yesterday, same with my Galaxy S4, it's 8months old, looks brand new, I like taking care of my gadgets personally, the cases I use barely ruin the look. :)

I think the OP has some good points. I think the challenge for me personally is to keep the weight of original product down but at the same time provide some kind of protection as not matter how careful I am, there is always a risk that I may scratch it or some other cosmetic damage.

I'm not in agreement with your post specifically but I personally don't use cases for my Air or 5s. I take care of them and they feel great with no case or cover.
 
I put my rMini in an Apple Smart Case (brown) cause it looks great! Also I figure since Apple creates the case then it is ok to put it in there and they want you to (or just want more of your $$)

I've learned my lesson the hard way about cases. I always use them now. I know it's over priced by about $20,but I just love the fit and finish and attention to detail of the Apple SmartCase. Every hole is cut perfectly, the leather is of rugged but good quality and it is so thin and light. I love it, especially in the red.
