I would not call those "huge". I admit Apple Pay is neat. Responding to text is something I usually don't do with voice unless I'm alone and I do that with the phone anyway because making corrections is easier. The voice recognition is not perfect. Making a phone call with the watch is a bit silly and makes your call very public just like a speaker phone. No thanks. When I'm in my car, my car system does that so the Apple Watch is not needed.

... and the big one... BATTERY LIFE! The Pebble lasts me an entire week!

I will give the Apple Watch a chance. I will go the Apple store and look at them. If I'm impressed, I will get one. Right now however, it doesn't look good.

they may not be a big features for you but to others including me it clearly is. It was the reason why I returned my Pebble months ago.

I mean what does the pebble really do beyond notifications ? It really is the most basic of basic when it comes to features. I wasn't satisfied spending 100-200 on a watch that mainly just gave me notifications. I might as well just spend 200 more and get a WHOLE lot more utility from an Apple watch IMO.

People will definitely be utilizing the call features for quick calls when their hands are full or phone is out of reach or just for convenience. Do you know how many phone calls are just quick 5 to 30 second calls ? I think you're overlooking so many "convenient" moments where full hands, distance phone, or just plain convenience is gonna find people using all these features CONSTANTLY throughout their day to pay for things, answer calls/texts, find info via siri, etc, etc. and you still haven't acknowledged the wealth of possibility from the app store.

For those who actually see where these features will benefit their tendencies can clearly see where an Apple Watch is clearly another league from the Pebble. Saying it doesn't have any big features in comparison is like someone saying the original Iphone didn't do much that THEY personally needed beyond their flip phone. Like those people who still own them and say " It makes calls , that's all I need". Okay to each their own, but to others there will be ALOT of useful features in this beyond what a Pebble can do.

Not just hotels. Movies. Cars. Airports. Your home. Paying with AirPay. Etc.

Simply no. You will have to wait for all these places to implement the hardware so you can do this. When I saw the presentation on the hotels I knew right there you might see this at 1 or 2 hotels if you look really hard.

Right now apple pay only works at select locations. At the moment I really only use it at Jamba Juice. I don't go to Walgreens or McDonald's. So maybe in a couple years when businesses catch up to the tech but this year? No.

Yes, I realize there aren't that many places we can do this NOW, and it will take a few years for businesses to implement the tech. But once they do, everyone will want to use a smartwatch. So right now maybe the Apple watch is not so useful and most people don't see a compelling use for it. Once enough places implement ApplePay / wave your watch to get in, we'll all wonder how we ever lived without our smartwatch.

Apple Pay is so easy to use on an iPhone already. I honestly don't see how not having to take your phone out of your pocket is such a huge relief versus using a device on your wrist.

-Not entirely waterproof
-$400 entry level
-Having to recharge after 1 or 2 days
-Reading info and notifications the size of a postage stamp

Thanks but no thanks for my lifestyle, but a godsend for others i'm sure.

Agreed. At this point it's just businesses catching up.

Maybe it's the difference between taking your phone out of your pocket vs. out of your bag? I find it's always a big deal to get out my phone, and if I have to reach for my phone, it's as easy to get up my wallet, so I find myself using cash/credit card instead of Apple Pay.

If you keep your phone in a bag that is filled with other items. Sure. That's a very specific scenario though.

Specific? I don't think so. At least half the people I know carry their phones in their bags/purses.

Even on the rare occasions when I'm wearing clothes with big enough pockets for the iPhone, taking out the phone is this extra step -- sure, it only saves a few seconds each time to use the watch, but it's like a psychological barrier. I think I'll use Apple Pay much more often once I have the watch.

I am a computer professional and am sitting at my 13" Macbook Pro all day long. I have a iPad Air 2, and an iPhone 5S. However, I still see the use cases for the watch.

A lot of times, I have my phone in my pocket and on silent. And when it vibrates, I don't feel it because I have become so accustomed to it, that the "signal" gets lost. So I won't realize I have an e-mail or text in my pocket until I pull it out, which is constantly because I'm always worried that I'm gonna be missing stuff.

With the role of my job becoming more important by the day, and the role of being a parent becoming more and more demanding every day (1 year old daughter), I definitely forsee a lot of use for the Apple Watch.

----

I am torn on how much I am willing to spend though. And I am torn on how much I will actually use it. I don't wear a watch currently, but I think if it told more than just time, and looked actually nice, I think I would use it.

Serious question. Why don't you simply dock your iPhone? I have my iPhone docked at my office and I never miss anything this way.

Okay. So if you keep your phone in your bag it's easier this way. I still don't see this as a huge selling point.

I'm a teacher and this will be life changing for me.

I can't carry my phone around in my classroom. Sure, it sits INSIDE my locked desk... what good is that for 88% of the day?! I miss a lot...

I have two kids in daycare, a husband, family, and friends like everyone else. I am SO EXCITED to be able to not miss an emergency for this reason... it'll be on my wrist at all times!

Won't use it much at home, maybe for exercising... but at work, game changer!

And you are the perfect candidate for the watch and I'm sure you will love it. For me though, I don't need or want my watch nagging at me all the time...

Serious answer :). I haven't bought a dock in a long while for the iPhone. I had the original iPhone bluetooth headset, and the dock it came with was awesome.

Then I get a new iPhone 3G or 3GS (I forgot which one), and all of a sudden my iPhone didn't fit in the docks. So we dremeled it. But it looked like crap. I have the original Apple Leather case on my 5S and doubt that it would fit in the dock with the case on. I have that issue with a lot of accessories.

Then, I had the original iPad, and I bought that dock too. It sucked because I couldn't use it with the Apple iPad case.

Lastly, sometimes I do get up and walk around, and I wouldn't want to forget my phone on the desk, which would happen if I put it somewhere.

Your suggestion is definitely a good solution for some people but probably not for me.

Well that's on you. I use an old dock Apple used to make for the iPhone with the 30 pin connector. I have a lightning adapter attached. My iPhone has a case. No problems docking and removing the iPhone. When I get up and move I grab my phone. When I return I place it back on the dock. It's pretty simple and easy. And if I get an email or text that I want to reply to, I can do so simply in my chair while it's still docked.

Yeah, different strokes for different people.

I can totally see why some people would see no point in the watch *for them*. That's perfectly fine. I just wish they'd see that the watch makes sense for me, and for many other people, also.

My issue is not that the Watch is pointless, but rather that it's very limited it what it offers and in fact leaves a lot to be desired.

Sure, it's missing features -- I'd like it to have GPS, and it'd be great if it had its own cellular radio so it didn't have to be in the vicinity of a phone to be fully functional. I expect that would happen eventually, but for now, the watch does enough, for my usage patterns.

i dont understand these people saying it needs its own cellar connection.
Do you WANT to pay ATT/VZW/TM another 10-20$ a month JUST to use your watch. WITHOUT having your phone around? Im glad they did it this way. I always have my phone because phone. I cannot really see having this watch with cell/gps/whatever. maybe in a few years itll come with it, like ipad when they run out of other things to put in it, but its really an iphone accessory. Not a stand alone device. not sure why people dont get that.

If the watch had its own cellular connection, I'd probably cancel my phone plan. Then the watch will become my phone, and everything else would be an extra screen for the watch.

Holy Moly! Did you ever actually go into the Pebble app store? Apparently not. I can do tons more with the Pebble then simply read notifications.

Yes I did, I went to the app store and looked thoroughly as well as searched all over online to search ALOT of pages and youtube videos listing the best pebble apps for Iphone.

I barely found anything useful, especially nowhere as useful as the features I listed on the apple watch. I wanted to try to justify me keeping the Pebble and just couldn't do it.
