I feel bad for the 8 and 8 Plus owners

I don’t think you have handled TouchID Gen 2 because there is no way in hell its slow. When I say instant I mean instant. Having owned a 6 and a 7 Plus the difference is massive. If I turn on raise to wake the phone is unlocked even before I glance at the phone unlike FaceID.

I personally believe we have to deal with FaceID because Apple wanted to remove the home button but clearly couldn’t get it working under the screen. I think we should have both technologies on the phone with the fingerprint sensor on the back because they each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. The FPS doesn’t work with wet fingers but FaceID doesn’t work when your phone is lying flat on the desk.

Extreme color shifting. With calibration I could get rid of the ugly yellow screen, but the color shift was just too much, especially for Apples most expensive phone ever. Just moving the phone slightly in hand while using it, caused the screen to change from white to blue. Mine seemed worse than others I looked at. I didn't want to do the screen lottery, so I just returned it. I am going to sit it out for a while and see if things improve. I'm bummed, because I loved everything else about the phone.

I am more than happy with the screen on my 8 plus, plus I love the extra screen real estate.

Why will I buy an older phone next year? Yes I believe they will discontinue all those legacy design iPhones next year. The lineup is very bloated with the 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and the X. Apple says the X is the future brought back a little early. Next year they will begin with a clean slate with all iPhones having the new design. Probably the current X will be relegated as the budget phone next year alongside the LCD iPhone X.

It’s not a problem I can assure you. I will try it out in time when it’s on more affordable devices. Until then I can share my views based on what others give as their experience. As you don’t have issues with people believing your own experiences, it shouldn’t be an issue.

What do you mean whatever makes me feel better. I will soon own the X, have the 7 Plus and the 6. I don’t have to give excuses for anything. I prefer a combination of both. I don’t have to like or prefer everything Apple does. To me FaceID along with no TouchID is just an admission that Apple couldn’t get TouchID to work under the screen because that’s a solution which removes the notch and makes the phone truly bezelless. TouchID unlocks the phone before I even look at it. FaceID won’t but works with wet hands so a combo of both would have been appreciated but that’s not going to happen so I will just get used to it.

I've played with the X pretty extensively at the store. Great screen, but similar processor/camera. More pocketable than 8+. These phones are much more similar than they are different. Why is this thread 22 pages long?

Reason why I bought the 10.

1. I dislike the new home button response on iOS 11

2. My iPhone 7 Plus battery doesn’t last as long as it used to

3. I have been waiting for a bezelless IPhone with an OLED display and this is the iPhone for it.

No, i’ll try and explain it again as perhaps it came across like I’ve taken a single persons experience as gospel. I haven’t. I think we’ve had enough first hand experiences shared here and there in the past 6 weeks to gage the reception of FaceID etc. I said before so this is me once again repeating myself, some say it’s quicker, like yourself, some say it’s a fraction slower. I’m not convinced it’s completely replaced TouchID yet therefore I’m giving it another year.

I couldn’t give a toss how I open my phone in all honesty as long as the technology is reliable and not on a phone that costs more than a grand.

So in summary, take your own advice. My opinion is irrelevant to you as you’ve claimed, so don’t give the impression a differing viewpoint actually does annoy you. We are here to discuss at the end of the day and your opinion is as worthy as mine or anybody else’s. I’m glad you seamless experience is positive, long may it continue.

I feel bad for anyone who feels bad for people making decisions based on cost or arbitrary and minute differences in design and utility.
It's a phone and an iPod and an Internet Communicator, not some testament to the meaning of life.
I like my X but I would be just as happy with my old 7 Plus, an 8 or 8 Plus, or even a Samsung galaxy 8. They're all great phones.
I prefer Apple, but don't go knocking people for sometimes buying something based on the same criteria you're using to puff yourself up.

For my Dad, the price was way too high. My dad on iPhone 2g "Who's gonna buy a $600 phone?" Apparently 1 billion people.
For my mom, she didn't like the no home button. "So, how do you go Home?"
My brother thought wireless charging was stupid. "What? So they can sell you another $60 thing?"

So, really, while some people want no bezels and blah blah arbitrary aesthetic blah, my entire family could've cared less about the actual design and look. Actually, they seemed more interested in the head bobbing and singing chicken animoji than in some silly "All Glass design with Military Grade Stainless Steel on a Brioche Bun with Pickled Jalapeno Douchebag Aioli."
