I don’t think you have handled TouchID Gen 2 because there is no way in hell its slow. When I say instant I mean instant. Having owned a 6 and a 7 Plus the difference is massive. If I turn on raise to wake the phone is unlocked even before I glance at the phone unlike FaceID.
I personally believe we have to deal with FaceID because Apple wanted to remove the home button but clearly couldn’t get it working under the screen. I think we should have both technologies on the phone with the fingerprint sensor on the back because they each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. The FPS doesn’t work with wet fingers but FaceID doesn’t work when your phone is lying flat on the desk.
Myself, and many others, work in the construction industry. Our fingers are constantly dirty. For us, TouchID just isn't reliable, but FaceID is. I'm in swimming pool construction, so my hands are always either dirty or wet. I cant really use TouchID, but FaceID worked great for me. I returned my X for an 8 plus due to screen issues. I now don't use any screen lock at all due to many TouchID failures.
So just because it works great for you, doesn't mean it works great for everyone.
