I feel bad for the 8 and 8 Plus owners

Hey if that’s a valid enough reason for you to wait another year good for you man. To me its trivial. Faceid is leagues above Touch ID in my opinion. So for me it was the perfect upgrade from the 6.

The price is high, but the notch takes about 5 minutes to get used to. People also claim the Bixby button ruins the galaxy s8. To me both are very trivial. I kinda like the notch.
 
Face ID is merely about unlocking the phone. How the phone unlocks is a tiny part of the whole experience of owning an iPhone, especially as it's takes about two seconds. If I have a hotel room, do I really care that much about how the door unlocks? Would I choose a hotel room based upon how the door unlocks? I care only about the room itself. Why is there such an emphasis on unlocking? Unlocking like a non-issue to me.

The notch is horrible and that is a big issue to me. The notch compromises the viewing experience in a substantial way, all the time.

The viewing area for videos is too small on the X. Smaller than the plus, unless I accept notch interference, which I won't.

I also have a big problem with sound on the X. Sounds harsh and tinny.

Other problems with the X too.

I returned my X. Sticking with the 7 Plus for now. Hoping for a X Plus next year.

Actually I ordered the iPhone X. Its getting delivered next week. FaceID is better than TouchID Gen 1 but not as good as Gen 2. Apple will get there next year. Having tried all of Apple's gen 1 products they always turn out to be betas. The iPhone 6 suffered from lack of ram and had a weaker structure. The 6s was a substantial improvement in TouchID, RAM, and build quality so much so that its still being sold today because of 2GB RAM. I still have the original Apple Watch and its slow as **** while the Series 1 is leagues above it and will stay that way. The iPad Air 1 was the first of their new design and suffered from lack of RAM and no laminated display. The iPad Air 2 is still usable today and will be for a few years despite launching just a year after Air 1. There is a massive difference between the 2

If you'll notice in all of Apple's produts the second generation has substantial improvements which add a lot to its longetivity. Apart from FaceID, I also believe the X suffers from lack of RAM. So many speed tests show it reloading apps every now and then. It needs 4GB which Apple will give next year. Its a new fresh out of the oven design but when it gets polished thats when it will be really good

Yeah I know how Apple works man. But the whole RAM thing is just Apple being cheap and knowing they can get away with it. Just like their cheap 1st party cable is as barebones as it gets for the last 20 years haha. I wish they would upgrade their cable!

If I had to pick the biggest problem with X its the display size. I was so pumped about OLED on an iPhone but Apple just had to make the display smaller than my Plus

Yeah I’m not a plus fan but if I was the x might feel lesser but I rarely use my phone for videos. Occasional highlight here and there but Netflix I use my iPad mini. That’s the only time I notice the notch when watchin media or using Face ID

I wouldn’t say it’s leagues above as the outcome is the same and so is the action pretty much. With FaceID you swipe up with your thumb and look at the device. With TouchID you hold your finger/thumb on the sensor which is fractionally quicker. You use your thumb for both operations and they both open your phone.

Two slightly different methods to achieve the same task. I think the jury is still out on which is better as the difference is minimal and the need for change was rather questionable at this point in time. In the future when the FaceID technology is put to much better use than opening a phone and sending animated animal heads, I think we’ll able to claim it’s a step forward.

I use faceid for much more than just logging in so for mean it saves way more time in the long run.

You need to try Face ID before you say Touch ID is better. For me, and most iPhone users (and probably you), Face ID is at least as good, and so much better.

In shopping apps when I try access certain info faceid automatically pops up if I want to go further

Probably a few others I’m missing

Right ok, I thought it might be tasks unique to FaceID. It still sounds like an alternative to touchID to me as they all sound familiar to my usage.

My point is faceid in all these tasks comebined is way faster an more streamlined then Touch ID.

Not sure why you thought it was tasks unique to only Face ID. I never implied that. I clearly said it saves me
More time overall then Touch ID did.

I don’t think you have handled TouchID Gen 2 because there is no way in hell its slow. When I say instant I mean instant. Having owned a 6 and a 7 Plus the difference is massive. If I turn on raise to wake the phone is unlocked even before I glance at the phone unlike FaceID.

I personally believe we have to deal with FaceID because Apple wanted to remove the home button but clearly couldn’t get it working under the screen. I think we should have both technologies on the phone with the fingerprint sensor on the back because they each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. The FPS doesn’t work with wet fingers but FaceID doesn’t work when your phone is lying flat on the desk.

It's hilarious because the Note has a crazy glass case just like the iPhone. I'd rather have plastic.
