Providing feedback to Apple about the customer experience is important. Whether they take this issue seriously seems unlikely. The first official response from the CEO is very revealing. It not only "sets the tone" but gives us a good indication of Apples values. Well known as hypocritical and manipulative, I'm not expecting to see anything effective from them. They've dug their heels in, made a few statements and are not about to admit there's a problem. The fact that Apples in the process of hiring special antenna engineers is a good indicator that the next handset update in June 2011, will most likely not suffer the same fate.

+1
I applaud the op for giving apple feedback on his experience and thoughts, and he did so without being nasty about it. While it's true that they will probably ignore it, it is important to give both positive AND negative feedback.

Congrats guys, you have perfectly working iPhones, so how about instead of coming into this thread and stating along with belittling the op, why don't you go out and enjoy your phone and post in any of the other threads where you may actually contribute something?

Oh gee...I'm sorry you don't want to see a different point of view. Go cry over your cell phone....that's rational behavior. Enjoy your sour grapes.

the iFanboys really go way over the top huh? ntrigue ignore the fanboys, at least someone has the brains to think..

and if you don't like it leave the forum guys, serioulsy no one is making you to read any of this.

Honestly, I wish everyone that does not like the phone would get their money back and quit whining. The i-4 is, and will continue to be a leading edge phone in the marketplace. Period.
I don't care what the bars say, I have never dropped a call yet.

Agreed. I've had a fraction of the amount of dropped calls compared to my 3G. This new ip4 blows away my last one...

Maybe ATT is better in our neck of the woods. I'm out west in SW Ranches.

Sour grapes? Right, you guys are the ones freaking out over people not having perfect iPhones and complaining about it, I'm just defending the op who had a legit issue and took the correct course of action, he returned his phone and let apple know why he did. And about getting another point of view? You guys are the ones whining if any one says anything bad about apple, seriously how hard is it to imagine that some people got faulty devices and apple isn't doing anything about it?

But whatever, quick I think a new complaint thread just popped up, you better get over and let them know how great apple is and how you device is perfect and that it must be the op's fault.

Sad that some random dude on Youtube posted a video that made you believe you had a problem with your phone.

What sad, pathetic gullibility.

feeling insecured? why do you fanboys need to constantly ruin everything? just go away, stop being so defensive.. it's crazy how far some of you will go just to defend a brand/product. FINE, whatever floats your boat but stop preaching and go away.

The people that are freaking out are the ones wasting their time sending letters that are meaningless and will never be read and those filing lawsuits. I think your perspective is way off. Think about it....

This is a cell phone and some people are losing sleep over it. I understand that there is a perceived problem. Yes, perceived and it may not be anything more than that. Apple has admitted to a flawed method of displaying the bars. There are engineers popping up (along with Consumer Reports) stating that all is well. I look forward to the next issue so this one dies already.

Dude, taking a couple of minutes to write a letter or post on a forum isn't losing sleep. And I too look forward to the next issue, cause that would mean this ones been solved. And FYI, it's not all perceived, just like not every iPhone has problems, not every single one is problem free.

I think it's rather sad and pathetic how the fanboys in this thread are coming accross.

The OP has a valid point. Look at the ****ing numbers he posted in the letter, and think about it for one second. The new "most magicalest iPhone evah" has a serious design problem that not only has caused a LOT of headaches to people much more important than any fanboy on this site. Add to that the pure and simple fact that this phone needs a rubber condom so you can use it normally. So much for the beautiful, industrial design, eh? To even tell a customer to "hold it different" is a ****ing joke! People should be able to make phone calls and use data services holding the phone anyway they like. In a normal way of course. Telling someone not to place their finger on the part of the phone where 90% of right handed people will see their pinky and/or ring finger be during a phone call. That's Absurd!

Any sane person will know by now that the new phone is flawed. And that's the end of the story. There's evidence more than enough. Apple making a sw change on how to display the bars is purely 100% cosmetic. Nothing to do with the phone's reception (until proven otherwise).

I will be waiting for the next release on June-July 2011. I will not waste my money on a goddamn phone that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. You don't have "5 bars 3G" everywhere which is why the phone should work Well also in the less than ideal circumstances. Given the evidence of the iP4 antenna performance so far, this will not be the case with this phone.

Dont forget to sprinkle on top the proximity sensor issues and camera issues.

I noticed a number of posters didn't actually open the .pdf so I've embedded it for the lazy. These are real world numbers skeptics. They reflect the natural way I hold my iPhone in landscape/portrait when browsing.

Feel better now?

Marginally. It's complicated to port my number to Verizon and have them run a credit check. I also will have to pay $175 on a line for the ETF.

This has been covered many times already, but I'm glad you got that off your chest :)

Thank you for the :)

I'm sorry to bother you.

Grow up. There are much more important things to worry about than a cellphone. You people act like it's the end of the world.

I'd consider myself a well-adjusted grown-up that satisfies most the criteria of acting so; minus a few trips to Vegas and Thailand.

I agree. Unfortunately, in the modern world the cellphone plays a critical role. I've spent several hundred dollars in the AppStore and it's unfortunate to see those dollars as a rental. Furthermore, I often have to access Evernote and OmniFocus in my average phone call and I'm not confident that a Droid can satisfy my needs; my workflow suffers.

Honestly, before you port to verizon if your unsure about driod, go to AT&T and play with the pre plus, I know it has a bad wrap, but webos is very nice and I know that evernote is available on it (had the pre for 3 weeks prior to the iphone4)

Saddest group of whiners I have ever seen. Geez! Thanks for filling a great site with your garbage!
You sir are correct!
I really don't understand.... if the phone isn't working for you simply return it and get your money back.
I'm loving my flawless iPhone 4 and laugh at all you that bitch bitch bitch about it. Sucks to be you :D

Oh gee...I'm sorry you don't want to see a different point of view. Go cry over your cell phone....that's rational behavior. Enjoy your sour grapes.

Says the tro, I mean "new guy" The funniest part of your pathetic post is this.... The ones that are having problems.... the ones that can return their phone and get 100% of their money back.... something that would solve their iPhone problem are the ones that have "the brains to think"? Obviously not or they wouldn't have anything to whine about because they would use those "brains" to return the freakin phone. Any other brilliant ideas?

Honestly, I wish everyone that does not like the phone would get their money back and quit whining. The i-4 is, and will continue to be a leading edge phone in the marketplace. Period.

How can you be an iFanboy and still be so smart?

Who's defending apple? I'm certainly not. My issue is all these bitch/whine/crybaby posts have already been done. A new thread doesn't need to be made every time one of the whiners gets butt hurt because their iPhone 4 has an issue. As far as the OP goes..... I don't need to read his blog. This is MR not blogspot. Apple is doing something about these "faulty" devices, they are giving people their money back. Nuff said.

feeling insecured? why do you fanboys need to constantly ruin everything? just go away, stop being so defensive.. it's crazy how far some of you will go just to defend a brand/product. FINE, whatever floats your boat but stop preaching and go away.
I don't know if I'm feeling insecured..... but I know I'm not feeling insecure.
How about all the noobs and whiners go away, OR simply put their cry baby post in with all the other cry baby posts. I don't mind them whining and crying as long as they follow forum rules and use search and not make a new post for an already posted topic. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Nice blog. It would be better if you spent your time on www.blogspot.com ;)

If all the sad people were banned from the internet there'd just be you and me left. And I'm not too sure about you... :D

Or me, for replying to this if I'm honest!

Yeah, filling a site like this with meaningless posts is terrible. Hey wait I looked up your last 20 posts and they are all about calling people who are having issues with their phone whiners and how great your phone is. LMAO, real meaningful contributions, thanks for making this forum so awesome.

Try dude(s) not dude!

Random dude. That is singular, try dude X thousands. I too have a problem with my phone, and the problem is real. I will keep my iP4 and my rubber bumper, but that doesn't mean there is not a real problem with my phone. Apple gave me a free bumper, not because they give things away, but because there is a problem

Consider for a moment the decrease in battery life when your iPhone is receiving a much degraded cellular signal. In the screenshots above it dove 2% when I ran three tests on two bars.
