When I pay $300 for it, AND indenture myself to AT&T for 2 years, yea I think it's reasonable to expect the phone to work. And if it doesn't work I want to tell them it doesn't work, not be told lies to deflect the reality people are seeing. "Nothing to see, move along" is the basic response from Apple.
I find it amazing that after 4 versions of the phone and countless software updates, they haven't figured out how to calculate signal strength. Whoops, sorry we're new at this cell phone stuff.

If they want to give it away for free, or cheap, then no I have no right to complain, when I pay a premium for a what is marketed as a premium product, I expect premium results.

Or you can get a refund, get back your $300 and no longer be indentured to AT&T. You can spend $500 for an Evo and be indentured to Verizon. Then at least you may or may not get what you paid for.

I guess I just don't understand the point of firing off a letter such as this to Apple. They simply don't care. The only way you're going to get their attention is by costing them money, and to do that, people have to start returning their phones. Otherwise, you're shouting at the rain here.

Well said. :)

or I could wait a week or two for the Droid X.

I never gave droid a 2nd thought till the last 2 weeks, Apple has disappointment me as a customer and I'll bet I'm not the only one. Do any of you care? Maybe not, but Apple reads these boards, they get a feel for what the publics opinion is, and you can bet if it gets harsh enough things will change.

This is my current pathway. Only time will tell.

Uh, an evo is $200 and is with sprint. Also getting both positive and negative feedback is important for a business, so maybe you only want to hear the good, but I assure you there is customer relations team that wants to hear both so they know what they're doing right and where they need to improve. No maybe one letter won't do anything, but if they get enough thy will do something about it.

You tell people to enjoy their views of greed and lies yet you will wait for the redesign to come back to apple. You are the Gandhi of smart phones.

Ultimately, I'd like to be in an Android device that I can be happy with through next year.

Maybe they will send you an apple with a bite taken out of it for your concern and consideration.

I'm vindicated. http://gizmodo.com/5580587/applecare-the-iphone-4-update-wont-solve-the-antenna-problem

I will return my iPhone 4 and wait for the redesign. Still uncertain which device to move to.

To all the teenagers that called me a whiner, enjoy your blind views of corporate greed and lies.

-A former fanboy

You should return your phone ASAP if you base on decisions on anything Gizmodo has to say.

Gizmodo ran a story saying Applecare says that the software patch will not fix the problem.

That is because Gizmodo is dumb, and there is no problem to fix. Apple never said there was a problem nor did they say they were going to fix any reception problem, because they don't believe one exists. All they said was they were changing the way the bars were displayed to provide more accurate information in assessing signal strength.

If you combined with Gizmodo could not understand that, then I suggest you return your phone immediately and Gizmodo go find a different line of business to be in, like running an illegal pawn shop or something.

That's funny, I always viewed Jesus Diaz as one of the biggest apple supporters on the gizmodo staff.

It's funny, Gizmodo has always been a big fan of Apple and their products to the point that many posters on the Gizmodo site have asked how to remove Apple related articles as they feel there are too many.

Now that Gizmodo has posted real information people here are calling them liars, and doubting their veracity in anything they say.

Must be nice to be such a zealot that any facts that contradict your view of Apple and the new iPhone are all lies. Apple fanboys, which I sued to count myself among, are now seeming more and more like the Christian Right to me, don't bother me with science and facts unless I can pervert them to support my view, otherwise they are lies and heresy. Would make me laugh if the blind stupidity of these types of people didn't scare the crap out of me.

I hope people start realizing this. Apple hasn't moved away from "don't hold it that way". They are going to say the antenna works as designed and of course there are problems if you cover the antenna. They will stand by that and gladly let people return their phones if they have a problem. There won't be any hardware redesign.

The bars fix will most likely have no effect mitigating signal loss when the antenna is covered or the seam is bridged. Anyone hoping for something different is waiting to be disappointed.

Thanks for the forward thinking positive contributions. To the others, you reinforce the statistics that High School graduation rates are the lowest in history.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. They broke the biggest Apple story of the year, and now all of a sudden, nothing they do or say has any validity. Amazing.

what did you expect? You either believe everything apple feeds you OR you are a hater, you can't disagree or question anything, it's always been like that with apple.. and the fans..

What's also funny is how the fans are now turning on the fans who are expierencing this problem as well, even calling them haters when they are actually some of the bigger apple fans out there.

yeah, for some weird reason apple fans are really really defensive. as soon as you question anything you are instantly branded "hater". you either blindly love it and follow jobs or you are a "hater". Any discussion on anything negative is absolutely forbidden.. maybe it's like the rule of being an apple fanboy or something.. maybe I missed that in the manuals I've had from all the apple stuff I've bought over the years..

who knows.. i am sure we'll have some fanboys here soon telling us how much of a hater we are and say something like "can we just have ONE thread for the whiners..." meh..

Where do any of them report there is a reception problem with the iPhone 4?

Gizmodo?

Which of them report that Apple has ever said there is a reception problem with the iPhone 4?

How about some simple reading comprehension on your part.

Please show me where Apple EVER said that there was a reception problem with the iPhone 4 or that Apple ever said they would fix a reception problem with a software update.

I like how I get labeled a fanboy for pointing out people can't understand simple english and are complaining while not having their facts straight nor a simple and basic understanding of what is even going on. It has reached absurd proportions at this point and this thread is a perfect example.

The OP is ignorant, and cites an ignorant source. So you basically created a thread that is fundamentally stupid and a waste of time for anyone who actually know what is going on with the iPhone and Apple.

Apple gets a lot of feedback from people who do not have problems with the phone, and of the many people I know with iPhone 4s, none of them are having any of these problems.

Some people here and elsewhere are seemingly raising a ruckus if for nothing more than to hope to get something Free out of Apple. A handful of people actually have a problem, and some of those smart enough to handle it correctly have exchanged their devices to find their problems magically fixed.

So all this other nonsense being spouted is just that. Pull your heads out.
