ohhhh wait never mind i found out that you are supposed to right click on restore not update! My fault!

hi, I did everything as you said and i'm into recovery mode, but it wont let me press control into order to get 1.1.1 it says you have to press ok and then restore it. How do I get around this?
Thanks in advance!

Control? It's either Option on the Mac or Shift on PC.
If, of course, that's what you meant.

Hold option and click restore OR hold shift if you're on a PC... then select the 1.1.1 firmware file to restore to.

yea sorry wasn't thinking that's what I meant to write...Thanks for the quick replies though...finally downgraded...now if i could only figure out how to go to 1.1.2 without screwing anything up!

Try this.

I read your PDF and although I already knew everything that was in it... it was laid out very nicely and professionally. Your wording is very proper and simple to understand and I think it will help a lot of people out. You forgot to mention in order for the 1.1.2 jailbreak to work successfully, you must have this file placed in your root directory of your hard drive. http://rapidshare.com/files/61509655/opt.zip.html
Unzipped of course.

ipod touch problems

everytime i try to click on the ipod 1.1.1 firmware a bunch of other folders pul up like

all_flash and dfu

which do i click to downgrade and what is the final file after that that I need to click on? I have a few before the "Choose" button is available. Everytime I have tried something, it keeps pulling up Error (1403)

Do not unzip the .zip file. Instead, change ".zip" it to ".ipsw" and choose that entire package.

Why thank you ;)
And on the matter of the file in the root directory, I never knew it even existed :S.
When I did mine a while back I didn't use it or for that matter, even know I needed it, and it worked fine for me.
What is it exactly?

1.1.1 firmware

the firmware only shows up as a file which leads to other files like all_flash and dfu. There is no actual firmware though to select. i used the links to download it but it just shows up as a file instead of an actual firmware icon. I am using a Mac - please help.

.zip

sorry but how do i change the .zip to the .lpsw file?? I'm on a mac not a PC, it doesn't read ".zip" anywhere on the file.

Click on the file, hit Return and you should see the .zip ending. Delete that .zip and then hit Return again and it will ask you whether you want to use .zip or .ipsw, choose .ipsw. If you do it correctly, the icon should change to a Lego block with an iTunes icon and an iPod on it.

.zip

i have tried that and when i hit Return it just hilights the folder name so that I can change the name but I don't see .zip and it doesn't ask me to select .xip or .lspw. Where do i find the correct Firmware folder at as I have a few that read ipod 1.1.1 Firmware.

When you rename, use .ispw, not lspw (if what you sent wasn't just a typo :) ).

.zip

That was just a typo. I don't see where it says .zip anywhere and when I click on the link that says 1.1.1 Firmware and click Return - it still doesn't show a .zip fil for me to change into a .ispw file. Where is the .zip file located on a Mac

So you've downloaded the file and then you still can't rename it or you've downloaded it and expanded the zip file?
I can't quite see why you're having the problem :/

i've downloaded the file 1.1.1 and that's it. But it automatically changes into a file after it's done downloading. There is no .zip title anywhere. there is no file

Is it true that if you do this on iTunes 7.6 then you won't be able to upgrade to 1.1.2 as it breaks OKTOPREP?

Hint: Download the 1.1.1 firmware (And all other firmwares) on MOZILLA FIREFOX. If you do, it'll automatically put the file into .ipsw form and will cause none of the glitches in the download that Safari and Internet Explorer will cause.

Um, I haven't tried it but I think there have been successes with 7.6. It should be fine. Don't quote me on that though ;)

I'm running 1.1.2 fine and I'm also using 7.6. Yes, use Firefox to download the firmware so that it doesn't auto expand it.

Hi!

I'm having some problems, I downloaded the 1.1.1 Firmware, and into iTunes 7.6, and I thought it was extracting the firmware fine, but then it gave me the error of "This disk cannot be read from or written to" How do I get around this? I'm redownloading the 1.1.1 Firmware now in hopes that it didn't download all the way, thanks! This is on a 2.66 GHZ/7300GT/2GB Mac Pro by the way,

Thanks

OK after several hours of playing about with this, this is where I'm at.

I had a jailbreaked 1.1.2 iPod touch. Then as soon as the jailbreak for 1.1.3 (/iphone-1-1-3-jailbreak-now-for-mac/)got leaked I jumped straight on it (Now it turns out that it wasn't ready for the iPod, only the iPhone). After finishing up. I didn't have any of my 3rd party app icons on my springboard or wiggly icons etc etc. So I thought the update hadn't fully worked and decided to restore back to 1.1.1 and ultimately back to 1.1.2.

But...... After successfully getting back 1.1.1 and jailbreaking it. Turns out that after running "jailbreak.jar" in the attempt to get back to 1.1.2. My iPod touch displays the "connect to iTunes" on the screen and iTunes launches. The iPod is then stuck and refuses to do anything other than want to be connected to iTunes. iTunes then displays a warning saying that the iPod must be restored.

I can stay on a jailbreaked 1.1.1. But If anyone has any ideas what's going on with getting back to a JB 1.1.2 - please let me know!!

Thanks :p
