-Tethering on an unlimited plan is cheating AT&T. You specially agreed to unlimited data for your iPhone only.

-Paying extra to tether on a limited plan is BS though. If you pay for 2GB you should get 2GB to use as you wish.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like the unlimited users that think they can bog down the networks just because they can. I have unlimited and I stream music, tv, movies, and all that but I wouldn't tether like some do. Some people used it as their main online source.

How does tethering bog down the network more than streaming netflix? It's not like as soon as you tether you have 10mbps and everyone else drops to 56kbps.
But AT&T needs to drop the people who torrent 24/7 and used 200gb+ a month, thats just ridiculous.

I mean people that tether on a laptop because they don't have home wifi. I'm not saying it uses more bandwidth just that some people use it all the time. We've seen some high gigs used in this forum. Phone uses are completely fine and dandy no problem here but when people ask how to tether to a psp, xbox, or something it is just ridiculous.

Xbox Live only uses roughly 20mb an hour (i've been told). You watching a Netflix movie for 2 hours is roughly 400mb.

Hard to believe (I do not know though) that Xbox only uses that much. Xbox has Netflix and all kinds of streaming and download services so it would be higher, realistically. Also, I can't figure out how people could stand using 3g for something like that.

My friend used Xbox Live over his phone at his dorm while waiting for actual internet to be hooked up and there was no more lag than on Wifi. Latency is what matters and I get 90ms over Wifi and 250ms over 3g, so it shouldn't be that bad. Depends on where you are though. I also just looked it up and Live used 45 - 70mb per hour, depending on the game.

I would hate playing against someone using a cell phone tower as their internet though. Can't imagine it works without hiccups, at least for the other players.
