you absolutely don't need it.
But seeing that the iPhone has sold millions, I think many people don't need it. They just go out and buy it blindly.
It seems to be just a "want" rather than a "need" for many iPhone buyers.

Woohoo got my iphone 4S today! Just syncing it - so excited!! I had a 3GS before - and tips that I should know?

AppleFan...I don't see the point of your replies in this thread. It's been established that the iPhone 4s isn't for you because you don't want to pay the monthly fee. We get it, already! So, instead of hijacking this thread about someone who's excited to have received their new 4s, why don't you start a new thread about wireless carrier's excessive charges. These monthly charges have nothing to do with Apple and apply to all smartphones, not just the 4s. Truth be told, if ever there was a time to lock-in to a wireless data plan, it would be now. Data charges won't get any cheaper in the future.
I'm using Comcast triple play because I like it. Nothing replaces turning on your TV and watching live channels.
Yea; I think the reason for my hesitation about cable is that I'm a college student, so I don't really have a good time to sit down and watch and relax. Because of this, I just download or watch what I can, when I can, and work around the schools schedule.
I do hate commercials with a passion though; and there are so many now. It's getting a bit ridiculous.
As far as I know, the cheapest plan for an iPhone is $55 a month, but I was told that the actual price may be even more expensive (all the way up to $80 when you get your bill).
I'm currently on a family plan where 4 lines are using non-smartphones for less than the monthly price of one iPhone.
To me, that's rape.
Yeah and to top it off, most of the stuff on TV is trash.
I still dont understand why people are so excited about the 4s.
I have to say I'm pretty interested in the 4S, but I just can't let myself pay that amount per month for something I probably won't even enjoy to the fullest (I can wait to check emails at home, and I can wait to go on the internet until I get home). I don't need internet on the go, although I would want it. My budget allows me to have this phone, but I don't feel comfortable spending that much per month. It seems that they charge you a premium price for anytime anywhere connectivity that I would enjoy, just not enough to cough up that much.
It's a great convenience, but I don't know if it's worth it for someone like me to be paying through their nose for it.
Hello, white iPod Touch!

You're practically living in the dark ages. You still "check email?" Internet at home? The horror...
Yeah, be ready to be raped on the monthly fee.
i hope you drop it.
you and a million other people
Yeah? What do the "with it" people do? Not check emails? Not get internet at home?
I'm in the computer networking field, so I guess I'm more comfortable with traditional land-line stuff like VOiP/internet at home.
It seems to me by your comment that you don't subscribe to cable TV, internet at home, you don't have a phone land line, etc. And what is this about not checking emails? Everyone I know "checks their emails", mainly when they're at home...
I'm saying most people these days don't wait to "check" email at home, or browse the internet solely from home. Email is instantaneous on the iPhone, and you can browse the internet, whenever, wherever.
Chill your grits, gurl.

No, you're not.

Sounds like you should stay where you are then.
But doesn't mean you have to piss on someone else's parade.
Don't act like a dick Because you can't afford it. This guy is truly happy about his iPhone 4S, and you come along talking about him getting analy raped.
