You guys are right I should've asked how much before having them install it. But being that overpriced never came to my mind. I will take it as an expensive lesson in life I guess.

I am going to try my hardest to get my money worth. On the receipt, it say unlimited lifetime warranty. I am going to get it reinstalled many many times for any stupid reasons I find.

you didn't ask before how much it was going to be? You have zero reason to be upset about anything. You always ask before. You were way off in your assumption on price and just because your expectation did not line up with reality is no reason to get mad. Next time, you check the price BEFORE you commit to anything.

You own any land?

Not much sympathy here. Why in the world would you not ask price before having someone do any service? That is a basic negotiating skill you learn in elementary school with cards.

Word of advice:

LEARN TO APPLY SCREEN PROTECTORS.

I started applying them years back when I got my iPod touch. Took a few tries but now I can apply them blindfolded. I do all of my friends and family members phones, no bubbles or trapped lint.

Also, I buy like 6 protectors for 2$ on eBay and the quality is just as good. Again, LEARN TO APPLY SCREEN PROTECTORS yourself. You got majorly ripped, lesson learned I hope.

Visit the Apple Store today to buy a case for my 5s. On my way out of the store, I stop by one of those accessory kiosks and decided to buy a screen protector and have the person install it. I could never install the protector perfectly with no air bubbles.

I thought it would be $10 max, but it when the guy said $33 I had a heart attack. I gave them my money, what else could I do? I came home with a head full of steam.

It's your fault for not asking the price first. Pay the $33 and consider lesson learned.

Yes it is perfect, I couldn't have install it myself with the same result or even come close to it at all. It also came with a microfiber cloth for cleaning finger smudges.

It's been perfectly installed by a professional and, at $33, it's around 5% of the cost of the phone - some might say that's a reasonable amount to protect the screen. I wouldn't. I'd say it's ridiculous and would have asked the cost first.

But then I also wouldn't pay up to $849 for a mobile telephone. If that isn't overpriced then I don't know what is!!

Not pay (already mentioned).
Shop around.
Buy $33 of screen protectors and get some practice with installing them.
Any of countless other options...

That is crazy... because they are less than $0.03 to make, normally retail for $0.33 each online and then $33.00 installed at the Apple store.

Welcome to the wonderful world of retail.
Read the OP again -- carefully.

lol why would someone put screen protector on the iPhone in first place
As always, it's a matter of preference -- regardless of the device in question.

Well, I wouldn't call $33 an expensive lesson in life.

Buying a $750,000 home that tanks 6 months later and ends up losing half its value ... that's an expensive lesson.

You obviously have not been married and divorced with kids. Now THAT is an expensive lesson.....

If you didn't ask how much something cost before you purchased it, you didn't get ripped off. Hate to say it but you were ignorant in your purchase. Always ask how much an item cost.

If it was installed perfectly (without any specks or dust) and the screenshield itself isn't degrading the quality of your screen, then don't feel too badly about it :)

A cloth too? For $33 it better come with a 6 pack of good beer and a mother ****ing hug.

This all could be prevented by asking how much. They're targeting people with their shiny new $200+ devices. Of course they're going to charge about 4x what they should charge for a screen protector. You weren't really ripped off, you were just foolish and they duped you.

I've used iOS devices since 2008 and i've never used a screen protector and i've never had a scratch on my screen. I don't put anything sharp or pointy in the same pocket in my phone, like keys. Personally, I think they are useless.

Gouging and fraud is how many businesses now operate around the globe. [...] You have to watch every penny like a hawk.

Ever hear of Caveat Emptor? First known use only 490 years ago... :D (citation)

Grabbing every penny is nothing new, all that's really changed is our increased awareness due to faster/easier/wider communication with others through the Internet. As consumers are better able to communicate with one another, companies seek new and less apparent ways to maintain their profit margins. When price becomes a major competitive factor the companies seek new ways to get more money; e.g. as airfare competition has increased airlines have sought new ways to add fees and other up-charges. Sort of like squeezing a half-full balloon; the more you squeeze in one spot the more it expands in another.

I scratch my screen protectors every time because I wear earrings. It's unavoidable for me. I don't know what it would do to glass but since one pair are diamonds, I assume I can get scratches that way.

I have to use screen protectors. Diamond earrings cut glass.

This. My wife and daughter occasionally end up using my phone to make a call.
Asking what earrings they're wearing before letting them use my phone would NOT end well. ;)

Even if the glass doesn't get scratched, the coatings can be and still give the scratched appearance.

The guy needs to make his paycheck, lol. Better hope his kiosk doesn't go bankrupt and close when you need a replacement.

That must be some special screen protector for that price. Better be the glass screen protectors lol

But I mean it is your fault for not asking though. but I would be pissed too.
It's a special solution courtesy of the installer. :-D

That's your fault. You asked for the service and you got it, you are obligated to pay. It's not the vendors fault you didn't ask how much it was prior to getting it done.

Disagree! The person should know that the price is high and should ask in the 1st place. If it was cheap, then it is understandable.

Was at in the galleria in Houston by any chance? Those guys sold me a counterfeit Mophie case a while back, had a huge argument with them over it but even Mophie confirmed it was a counterfeit so I persisted and got my money back.

I would never ever buy anything from any of those kiosks ever again, this Mophie case looked just like the real deal and was sealed within proper Mophie packaging but the internals of it were a joke and it didn't work at all.

The kiosks is the Galleria are all a scam!! I hate all of them. Scam artists. Complain to the galleria.
