can't decide between smart case, moshi vercasover and kavaj berlin :(

I really liked the Kavaj Berlin (due to the light weight and one fold design) but couldn't get one that was good quality to begin with. Then once I was in possession of good quality - I had problems with thread coming loose and unraveling. The company is wonderful to deal with - I just got discouraged with the issues and decided to move on. If I thought the problems were a one-off, I would have kept trying but I had multiple problems.

I've seen super video reviews of the Moshi choosing the Versacover as their favorite iPad case. However, when you look at the reviews on Amazon, there are many complaints of the plastic corners splitting and breaking. I actually ordered this case and then cancelled it this morning.

I got the Apple Product Red case this past weekend. I was hesitant due to the mixed reviews of the Apple website as well as this forum. However, so far I really like it. I like the precise fit and perfect cutout alignments. I also like the feel of the aniline leather although aniline leather is not the easiest to keep clean. I conditioned the leather with Apple Brand conditioner and then sprayed it along with the microfiber interior with leather protectant spray. Hopefully it will wear well and not get yucky looking. I primarily use my case in the landscaping typing mode and have a stable stand by folding with the microfiber inside. So far for me, the Apple case has been my favorite. It will continue to be, providing I can keep it from getting dirty and stained.

I was actually quite enjoying my black iPad Air Smart Case until the plastic above the hole for the lightning port snapped when I was taking the iPad out. Didn't flex it much at all. The leather there is stretched now and it won't be long before it tears.

Spoke to Apple. They refused to replace it but offered me a 30% discount at the Apple store if I wanted to buy another one. With what they cost in New Zealand, no thanks.

It's $80 dollar case by Apple for a high priced Apple product. They should stand by it.
Do this:
Buy a new one - swap it out of the packaging- replacing the new case with your busted case. return your bent case in the new packaging for full refund.

Persistence paid off - Apple are giving me a store credit to the value of the Smart Case. And I guess, worth everyone else keeping in mind that they can break in this spot ...

I, too, am having problems with the stitching coming loose on my Kavaj Berlin, but they are sending me a free replacement. Hoping that the stitching is higher quality on this one, as the case is perfect in all other ways. Top grade leather too.

I agree - the Kavaj Berlin was my favorite of all cases. The company was great about sending replacement cases to me but I continued to have problems with the thread coming undone. I got frustrated after 4 cases (2 of the cognac and 2 of the black). I even used some glue at where the cover flap met the case to hold the unraveling from getting worse and then I found another spot coming undone around the bottom. I ended up giving up and moving on.

I bought a black one for my iPad 4 and it had a flaw on the front cover. There was like a pimple on it (something left behind between the leather and inside lining). They have good customer service but they need to tighten up on their quality control. Things like this clearly should not be getting out.

Yeah, its really too bad that the quality was lacking, cause the case design and leather was really nice.
