I mostly wear mine when I have to work at the office or on a rare site visit (80 miles from where I live) as a back up phone mostly in case my iPhone goes flat and I can’t access a charger it. You‘ll never even see it as it’s under the cuff of my shirt and like my phone in a custom work focus.

You are more likely to see my Apple Watch 7 I wear at home as that usually slides out from under my shirt cuff

Absolutely - the thing is just so ugly! I haven't seen a single picture where it looks good.
To me it’s a great looking thing! Way better than the old. But just as with regular watches, there is something for everyone. Like thin nice dress Watch, go for it. Like bigger dive watches with big bezels: Go for that. And same here. Get what you like

Yeah I don't disagree that there are bigger watches out there but the thing about those is that their geometries and overall aesthetic are so much more dynamic and pleasing vs. the Ultra. The Ultra looks good when you're wearing one and actively using it yourself but when you see it on someone else's wrist it looks like an awkward black flat blob surrounded by grey metal, even moreso than the regular watches do.

I know everyone's going to tell me "people wear watches for themselves not for others, I don't care what other people think about my watch and neither should you" and I get where you're coming from, in fact I agree to an extent... but the ordinary person looking at how awkward these things look on other people's wrists absolutely factors into whether or not they want to buy one. Sorry, I think that's just the reality whether or not we all agree on it.
A) that’s why I like the AOD and third party bands. I’ve already had a ton of compliments on my AWU.

2) no. I don’t think people only wear watches for themselves. I I’ve when people notice my watches and strike up a converstion…for a minute or so. Then it becomes tedious.

It’s still not even that big.

Exactly. As well as some popular dress watches.
I would snag a 51mm or 52mm or heck - dream big - a 55mm AWU in an instant. My wrist is 7.6 in. So it’s not THAT big, but imagine the info and watch faces you could do on a larger screen!!

Never see anyone wear ultra watch so far. Plenty of Apple Watch but no ultra. Nearly all Apple Watch I see black screen so either they all older watch or they switch off always on display get better battery life. It rare I see Apple Watch with always on display switch on so far.

Ultra probably more likely sporty people. Loads of runners/cyclists around here but impossible see which watch they wearing cos move too fast to see! LOL.

At least in the Bay Area, CA…I see the Ultra model at least almost every day by one or more people. It’s also near Apple headquarters, but still seems to be really popular regardless

Outside of the Apple Store, of course. I have not seen a single person sport the Ultra, even at the gym or at mass gatherings like the mall. I thought that the Ultra was popular? That seems kind of odd.

Observation bias? I tend to notice what women wear more than men, and many women (outside of Apple employees) think it is too large.

At my job I've seen quite a few. Transport team members, MDs, RTs, RNs, Techs, PT etc...

The extra battery life. Fast charging every morning and evening serves this purpose for me
Sure but I think the appeal here is you don’t need to charge it every morning. This is especially handy when traveling imo.
To my eyes the screen is smaller than the Series 8 despite the actual measurement being a tiny bit bigger. Why? Because the screen to bezel ratio on the Ultra is massive.
A matter of taste I think. I actually really like the silver bezel surrounding the AWU screen. Somehow makes the thing look more proportional than the standard 45mm AW.
The extra bulk and weight. I have big wrists so I'm not concerned about aesthetics but I already find wearing an Apple Watch a bit irritating
I dunno, again it’s a matter of taste but I don’t even have big wrists (pretty average I think) and it does not look or feel overly big to me. The silver bezel helps in some way…the 45mm AW always seemed awkward looking to me, but this one doesn’t.
The LTE/better GPS. I never go anywhere without my phone
Makes sense for you to go with GPS then. Personally I could never go running with my giant phone.

I have the opposite reaction. The grey metal surrounding the screen makes the whole thing look much more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing IMO. Also the screen is never black, unless you’ve disabled Always On Display.

Only smart watch I have ever had, I like it based on the materials Ti/sapphire and being able to leave my iphone (time succubus) at home, if I’m not wearing my ultra I’d be wearing my omega or a seiko
