The only people I’ve seen wearing an Ultra were Apple Store employees.

I’m waiting for the Dick Tracy version with FaceTime video calls.

You must think that only Multi-Billionaires buy Rolex's then lol

Rolex is a watch for a person who isn’t into watches but wants a “fancy watch”

It’s the pumpkin spice of luxury watches, with the exception of a few models

That is a pretty big generalization - I have a couple of nice mechanical watches that includes both a Speedy Moonwatch and a Rolex Explorer 1 and my aim was never a "fancy watch". Just thought it was amazing design and good quality.

2nd hand market prices are way off, we can agree on that one

I'd agree that the Explorer 1 and the Speedy Moonwatch aren't "fancy watches." I have the Speedy Moonwatch with the hesalite crystal and definitely don't think of it as a fancy watch.

Trying to not overgeneralize, but I would think that if you see someone wearing a Moonwatch, they're more likely to be into watches (based on its history) that someone wearing a Rolex. BTW, I love the Explorer 1!

When comparing the price of the Apple Watch Ultra to a traditional watch, I think that you'd be hard pressed to find a mechanical watch with a titanium/ceramic case and a sapphire crystal for under $1,000. Of course, there might be a micorbrand out there who beats this price, but I highly doubt you find the same among the established brands.

Citizen makes a titanium eco-drive watch with a sapphire crystal. Costs about ~$800. I have two different models.

I didn't think of Citizen! Does the case include ceramic as well?

Edited to add: I used to have a Steinhart, titanium GMT that was a little over $700 USD.. I think there was some ceramic on the bezel, but not on the case.

Maratac has some cool watches that fit that bill

I've actually seen a lot but am holding out for the second gen since mine is still holding strong.

I've seen a bunch, but I also spend time around colleagues and friends who are somewhere on the fitness-focused, early adopter, gadget addict Venn diagram.

I finally saw an Apple Watch Ultra in the wild for the first time. It's honestly not as off-putting in real life as it looks in pictures. I asked the owner about it, turns out he is a diver, but doesn't use it as a diving computer. He got it for the extra battery life alone, and loves it for that reason. He said he doesn't even really think about charging anymore, just puts it on the charger for awhile every few days when he has a chance.

I see plenty of them. Gym, out and about and everyday. I just bought a series 8 because of the size and polished stainless finish though. Nice upgrade from series 4.

I finally saw one in the flesh. Yesterday. When mine was delivered lol.

It is strange though to be fair that I have yet to see anyone else with one, and I do notice watches on others.

Yes, last week on Bonaire on a diving boat, person was using it as a diving computer. As an additional remark, Personally I will wait till later before trusting Ocean software version 1.1 and ultrawatch version 1. I keep my dedicated divecomputer for things my life could depend on.

I’ve never seen another in person either.
I work in an IT department and only one other person has an iPhone, the rest are Android.
iPhone guy doesn’t wear a watch of any kind, one of the androids has a huge Garmin and there’s a lady with a Fitbit.

Noticed (first in-the-wild) a Contractor was wearing one last week when he came-out to mark the positions of outdoor lighting. He was rather techie (had his Surface on a new stone wall for a little while).

It didn't look as big as I had thought it would.
