sold out

Just visited the Apple store at The Domain in Austin. They had just sold out of all 13 inch models. So I ordered a 13 inch, i5, 128GB online with education discount, $100 app store credit, and the $99 Epson printer. I'm hoping to see at least a mild performance improvement over my iBook G4 circa 2005.:)

Just order from Apple.com a:

MBA 11"
128GB
4GB RAM
i7 1.8GHz

EST Delivery: July 28 - August 1 :(

Going to Apple store tomorrow, see if I can get the same spec MBA 11"

Keeping my fingers cross. ^_^

Something what I still don't really understand: Why is it that a MBA 13" 256Gb i5 get shipped in 24 hours and if you only change the i5 for a i7 it suddenly becomes 3 days?

If you want to have a bunch of software pre-installed I can imagine. That's something out of the ordinary. But something simple like a different processor could have been something they could have in stock? If the stores sell them why not selling them online a bit faster?

To be honest I am losing my patience... wednesday afternoon ordered a 13" i7 256Gb, still looking at those horrible three words...NOT YET SHIPPED...
Can't stand in any more. Got some serious discount via wife's office which is only valid for online purchases, so I'll just have to wait.

picked up my 13" i7 from apple store yesterday still figuring out why migration assistance keeps losing connections from my other mac.

How much is "serious discount"?

Picked up my 13" i7 1.8 (Samsung SSD/Panel) yesterday from an Apple retail store, after they said they wouldn't have the i7 in stock. Glad I made the trip and cancelled my online order (due 02/08).

Sat beside my SSD equipped 09' MacBook Pro, installing everything. Calibrated with Spyder 3 Elite, but the original profile is pretty spot on.

Installing Aperture 3 and going to see how it holds up. Expecting it to be fine, this laptop is a little beast and now my full workstation.

I hear ya. I mean, it's the one single upgrade you can make to the machine itself. With other Macs, the are several changes I can see necessitating longer build times, like different / additional hard drives, memory, even optical drives on a pro. But just a different processor?

And *especially* that they're actually carrying the i7 variety in stores like it's *not* a custom built-to-order option... Seems really strange that it takes a couple days longer to ship.

Could be worse, tho. Back in 06 I ordered the first MacBook Pro in January and they weren't slated to ship till February. Feb. 14 rolls around and Apple both starts shipping and decides to offer a BTO option for a 2.16ghz processor... So I ultimately cancelled my order and got in the back of the line for the 2.16ghz chip, and ended up waiting till March 11 for it to ship.

So I guess compared to that wait... I can stand to not be the first kid on the block with the new Air while others walk into the store and buy them. :)

Ordered from Best Buy 15-20 mins ago. Waiting for my Droid to tell me my mac is on it's way. :)

It should be about $160, in my opinion worth the little wait. But I have been thinking of changing back to i5. To go to a store seemed a waste of money since I have the discounted option.

I don't have that kind of patience. Even the newly ordered cars I owned were delivered in about a week. The longest I had to wait for was for my daughter, but in that case it's best to wait the full 9 months....;)

Just got my mba 11 inch base model. well collected a few hours ago and discovered there was a deal pixel at the bottom right of the screen:( made a call to apple hotline and sales support team promised to do a delivery of new mba to me;)

Didn't read through the thread but did anyone order a 13' 256SSD and have the order say it had an i7?

13" i7 Shipped!

Just got my shipping notice! Shipping from China, Apple says it'll arrive the 26th, Tracking says the 27th... I ordered at 6:19am Pacific on the 20th.

Can't wait!

Same dates here :D so excited! First mac. Anyone have thoughts on the samsung SSD and all? Is it worth trading in? Or is it just more awesome to have that one? Like a foil card versus non-foil (shiny card games).

That's the same thing for my 11-inch ultimate, shipped today and Apple says the 26th but FedEx says the 27th.

Got an 11 inch/128 GB in Dublin yesterday. Love, love, love, love, love *love* it so far. Haven't stopped talking about it in the last 24 hours. Wife's patience severely tested.

Shipment notification!

I ordered my i7 about 45 minutes after they were available on July 20, FWIW.

I went by the Apple store today (Tulsa, Ok. Woodland Hills) and they had the i7 in stock so I purchased from the store and cancelled my online order.

The 13" i7 with the 256GB SSD is going to be a standard item in Apple stores. So anyone who wants one their is no need to order online. They have them listed on the iPad signage along with the 128GB i5 and 256GB i5.

I asked today and was told they are selling mostly the i7 models.

Coming from a 2,1 Air this machine feels very fast and responsive even with a half dozen apps open.

So, to confirm, I just got back from the Orlando Millenia Mall Apple Store and got the 13", i7 MacBook Air. They told me that they had several in stock too. So it would seem that getting the faster i7 instead of the i5 is not only available by customizing the i5 256GB 13" model at the online store, but also can be purchased in some (if not all) of the Apple Stores alongside the rest.

Interestingly, my educational discount when configuring the MBA online last night was $60 total, but today, at the retail store, it was $70 total ($50 off the MBA and $20 off the upgraded processor). Go figure.

I swear, I don't know how the Apple Store employees make it through a work shift without killing someone. The crowds are always just overwhelming in that store.

Just visited the Apple store at The Domain in Austin. They had just sold out of all 13 inch models. Nice, I was gonna go to the Domain store yesterday at noon and they said they had a bunch of them. I don't mind that I bought one online, I don't need it right NOW but good knowing that I didn't try to snatch from the store later. Crazy that it sold out.

Just got my 11" i5/4g/128g...ordered on Wed at 5 pm EST...didn't receive confirmation until 6 am the next day...arrived Fri morning at 11:30 EST.

...and omg I absolutely love it. Glad I chose the 11". Going from a 13" 2010 MBP. So glad I got this thing....loving Lion on it as well!
