I was under the impression the TDP was the max wattage the CPU would use which is the same for both. Although at idle I could see maybe the i5 using say 5 watts and i7 using 6watts. Maybe the i5 never quite hits the 17watts too.

I just noticed my card was charged the 1300 I put on it at 8:59pm EST last night and then AGAIN at 9:02PM EST for 100 dollars. Both said pre-auth to apple store online. Not sure why they would charge the full amount before the 100 dollar one. Only supposed to be 1300 on that card max. Anyway, does that mean mine shipped last night? It still says prepared for shipment on my order status though. Thought they don't charge till it ships.

They charged me for mine last night almost straight away. It was the standard config and has only just been "prepared for shipment". That was 23 hours and 52 minutes ago..... I need it before I go on holiday at 11am tomorrow, paid £15 for pre 9am delivery too. It better be here! :mad:

23 hours and 56 minutes as of right now for my order. That within 24 hours is dangerously close. I wonder if it shipped out and is on its way and they didn't update the page. I called last night and they said if I don't get it today they would refund my 16 dollar overnight charge.

This is what I am hoping is going on with mine, will be very annoyed if it doesnt arrive tomorrow after the cost of the shipping!

It removed the cancel order button before it had even prepared for shipment as well so hopefully it is already on its way!

1 day and 9 minutes now. They better get a move on!

Edit: It also only says prepared for shipment on the US store. On the UK one it just says "not yet shipped"
 
So to anyone with the new MBA, is there any way to get the Lion reinstall DMG from a fresh out of the box MBA? I'm working w/ a brand new 11" MBA atm. Lion is listed as 'Installed' in the App store, but I don't see a means to download the installer or locate an image file.

Ordered mine yesterday when I got off work. This is is my first ever Mac purchase. Made the order at 5:30 pm PDT for a BTO 13" ultimate (?). My card, as of right now, has not even been charged yet. Status still shows as not shipped. Is this normal? I used the educational discount, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. They haven't even emailed me a confirmation for the order, which I find very strange (not sure if this is normal for Apple). Should I be concerned enough at this point to warrant giving them a call? Any help will be appreciated.

Give them a call, it wont do any harm. There might be an issue with your bank if the purchase is large, it happens sometimes.

Ordered my 13" entry level MBA yesterday afternoon. This will replace my nine-year old titanium PowerBook. :) It's been a good and long run. That said, I'm very much looking forward to the huge leap in technologies I'm about to experience.

Welcome MacBook Air.

Well that sucks...I ordered almost the exact same time (10 am EST), and mine shipped around 7am this morning! Insult to injury, it was picked up in SHANGHAI. Wonder what's with the inconsistencies?
 
Ordered from the EDU store yesterday around this time 3pm eastern. Didn't receive email confirm till 4am this morning. The $100 gift card has already shipped, but the MBA still shows prepared for shipment. They got just a few minutes to make that 24hour promise. Iordered the base 13" model.

Just called a rep. Looks,like mine is shipping from China. I'll be waiting till Monday:-(

Just went down to the local Apple store and bought my (well, the companies ;)) first ever Mac, an 11" Ultimate Air! I was there just last night and they said they would only be getting the stock models, ala no i7s, etc. That said, I walked in today and they had both the 11" and 13" Ultimates, plus the base models. I was almost tempted to go for the 13" but in the end portability won me over.

Took an hour+ to get the company check to clear Telecheck, darn hassle and it wasn't easy to get the store to try harder on it. I even had my bank on the phone saying it was fine but the Apple store would not even talk to them directly even though my bank was just 2 miles up the street. In the end I had to call Telecheck myself, and I never did find out why they initially declined the check but in the end they finally gave it the go. Was almost tempted to go to the bank and return with all dough in quarters just to make a point. :eek:

Got myself a i5 256gb 13" model with the education discount at the Apple Store with AppleCare. No dead pixels/stuck pixels and the computer is a beauty!

I decided to go i5 instead of i7 because of the battery savings mostly; I just dontthink I'll need the additional small bump to the i7 either. Good luck everyone on your purchases!
 
Just picked up my 11'' 128/4GB at my nearest Apple store. Love this machine, returned my week old MBP for it.
 
I got it!

I drove to Delaware today (tax free) and picked up the ultimate 11" configuration. They had the high end models in stock.

This is my first mac and I am loving it. Super fast.

Picked up an i7-based 13" MBA at my local Alderwood Mall Apple Store in WA. They seemed to be quite well stocked with all models.
 
Finally shipped. Estimated delivery by 9am tomorrow with "Walsh Western Delivery". Never even heard of them. We will see how reliable they are.
 
Just now got my shipping notification today. at 1:36PM EST. Little over 24 hours to ship, lame. Says it will be at my doorstep by 3PM tomorrow. Funny that my apple store card shipped at 4:16PM today EST and says arrival by 10:30AM with different tracking number. Both are fedex.
 
Just walked into San Diego Fashion Valley Apple Store and bought 11" ultimate configuration. They seemed to have a lot in stock, they have the two base line mac 11" and then the ultimate config. Total was $1699.62 with a student discount.

Similar story here. Just under 24 hours. App card by 10:30, Mac Air by 3PM. It says it's only shipping from Middletown, PA (outside of Harrisburg) which is less than two hours from me so I hopefully may get AM delivery of the whole package.
