The issue is many people fall into the trap of double counting that money. They say I'll spend the 1,000 for the phone because I'll get 350 when I go to sell it. 2 years later, they sell it, so they can justify the cost of the new phone

They will finally book the difference on that fateful day when they purchase their Last Phone.

Sounds like the title for a Romance Novel, The Last Phone.

I can't justify the price. I'd rather spend the money on camera equipment

Now you’re talking! ;)

I just don’t use my phone enough, and skip two iterations before upgrading. I hear that this is trending, and consumers are keeping phones longer. Use the hell out of my iPad, but the phone not so much.

Cameras on the other hand... :)

$1150 is better spent as a contribution to a Roth IRA than a phone that will be obsolete in a year or less.

This makes me really sad there is no mid ranged iPhone. It makes me sad there is no iPhone 5c follow up, I loved that little phone, but I had to upgrade for Touch ID.

The whole event left me numb and now Android will have to be the place I go to. I don't want to because I'm invested in the ecosystem, sadly though Apple refuse to create tiers.

That's way too much sadness because of a phone. I would suggest directing energy away from these gadgets. Practice appreciation of what you already have.

I certainly do understand what obsolete means and iPhone X will be obsolete one day. No one thought flip phones would go obsolete in the 1990s.
You said a year or less not one day. There is 0% chance of the iPhone X being obsolete in a year or less.
