I just played with one in store here in NZ. Here are my thoughts as a 7+ owner.

- seeing both in person made me choose the space grey. Though I like the silver (white) back, I am not a big fan of the silver bezel (reminds me of cheap chrome no offence to those who love it)
- phone is super quick
- gestures seem intuitive, I think I would adjust to them very quickly. The only gesture that seemed ill thought out is closing apps from the app switcher. Why you can't swipe up the cards is beyond me.
- screen size felt good. Have been wondering if it would be too much a downgrade from the 7+ but it feels good. Yes the keyboard is a bit more cramped but not too bad
- notch is 100% not an issue in portrait, it is fairly ugly in landscape
- screen does have a very noticeable blue shift off axis. this has the potential to bother me quite a bit. If you like true tone this blue shift is incredibly noticeable. I turn off true tone and it is still pretty noticeable, especially on white backgrounds (aka everything)

After playing with one in store I am still on the fence for ordering. I am due to resign my plan so get a nice fat subsidy and can sell my 7+ and cover the difference so it essentially costs me nothing. Alternatively I can go on a cheaper open term plan and resign this time next year with whatever succeeds the iPX. If they had stock ready to go I would be much more tempted just to go for it, waiting 4-6 weeks is not too appealing.

Congrats Man!

:D

Thank you very much for this ! I didn't see anyone complain about this in any video and this was a VIRAL NEWS for the release of Pixel 2 XL ... In case of iPhone X everyone will just dismiss it saying that OLED is like this only ... the world is funny .. lol

First few days will be like honeymoon and then...

Im in Australia too and am in possession of 64GB Space Grey. I’ve been an early adopter since the 4s without fail and am an Apple fan boy if there ever was one!

With the iPX though the honeymoon lasted 30 minutes for me. Once I played with Face ID and, dare I say, Animoji (the only things I saw as potentially swaying me from my current iP8) the novelty, although great tech, wore off quickly and it became apparent that I was not willing to spend an extra $500 on top of the iP8 I currently have, even though I can afford it. It’s each to their own though, in my case I don’t need the better camera, do not need a bigger screen, can live with Touch ID over Face ID and don’t like the chrome finish (I’m OCD and the inevitable micro scratches will do my head in). For those coming from a plus model though there’s no question as to this being a worthy successor.

I just received my iPhone X in Sydney Australia!!! First impressions

It’s 10.05am here in Sydney Australia and I just had my iPhone X Silver 64GB delivered to work an hour ago

*First impressions*

**Design** – Coming from a 7+, this thing is sooo small! It feels hefty in the hand and is definitely thicker - The thickness gives it a sturdy and premium feel. The stainless steel frame is very similar to my SS Apple Watch and might scratch but I have the Cape Cod cloth for buffing it up when needed.

**Screen / Notch** – It feels a bit surreal that the phone is smaller than my 7+ but the screen seems infinitely bigger. The OLED screen is amazing the colours are more vivid and sharp. I personally don’t mind the notch at all – I forgot about it once I started scrolling through websites and the reduced status bar icons in the left and right ears feel streamlined and not as intrusive.

I also watched short videos on YouTube in full screen mode and I don’t notice the notch at all – It’s in the place where I would normally hold the phone anyway.

**Face ID** – OMG it’s fast. Set up was super easy and it has not failed me yet (I’ve unlocked it maybe 30 times or so). Raise to wake and swipe up and it’s unlocked. I’ve tried different angles of unlocking including it lying flat in front of me on the desk, tap to wake and it’s unlocked. I do not miss Touch ID one bit.

**Gestures** – I used to jailbreak my 6S+ and used Activator frequently so this feels very familiar. It took me maybe 5 to 10 mins to get used to the gesture based navigation. Swiping up to close an app or go to the home screen is intuitive and responsive. Swiping left or right on the home bar feels fluid and very convenient. Even swiping up and holding to open app switcher isn’t as slow as some of the reviews make it out to be. I don’t miss the home button one bit.

Happy to answer any questions. I’m at work now but will try and respond as quickly as possible

We’re have you heard that there would be a X+? Everything is rumors right now.

They take 2 years to make a device and put it out to public. The iPhone X and X+ were suppose to come out in 2018. SO ya there will be one...

what software ships with it. 11.02 or 11.1?

There are several YouTube reviewers that compared the off-axis blue shift to the Pixel 2. It's much more pronounced on the Pixel, the shift on the X is quite subdued compared.

Small question: Is there a way to show the battery percentage on the X? There ain't much space in the top, but I'm wondering if they made it so the percentage appears in the battery or if they took out the feature.

This is what I've been waiting for. Impressions by people that used their hard earned loot to purchase the device. Thanks for your first impressions. Can't wait for mine to arrive tomorrow!

Does the live wallpaper with the colors moving around shown in the online commercial come with the phone. I thought it may be just a video.
The glittery one’s in the commercials were made just for the demonstration (and eventually used in the commercials) by Universal Everything, but the live wallpapers are those displayed as the background on Apple’s website and in promotional photos and packaging: http://universaleverything.com/projects/iphone-x-wallpapers/
