*First impressions*

**Design** – Coming from a 7+, this thing is sooo small! It feels hefty in the hand and is definitely thicker - The thickness gives it a sturdy and premium feel. The stainless steel frame is very similar to my SS Apple Watch and might scratch but I have the Cape Cod cloth for buffing it up when needed.

**Screen / Notch** – It feels a bit surreal that the phone is smaller than my 7+ but the screen seems infinitely bigger. The OLED screen is amazing the colours are more vivid and sharp. I personally don’t mind the notch at all – I forgot about it once I started scrolling through websites and the reduced status bar icons in the left and right ears feel streamlined and not as intrusive.

I also watched short videos on YouTube in full screen mode and I don’t notice the notch at all – It’s in the place where I would normally hold the phone anyway.

**Face ID** – OMG it’s fast. Set up was super easy and it has not failed me yet (I’ve unlocked it maybe 30 times or so). Raise to wake and swipe up and it’s unlocked. I’ve tried different angles of unlocking including it lying flat in front of me on the desk, tap to wake and it’s unlocked. I do not miss Touch ID one bit.

**Gestures** – I used to jailbreak my 6S+ and used Activator frequently so this feels very familiar. It took me maybe 5 to 10 mins to get used to the gesture based navigation. Swiping up to close an app or go to the home screen is intuitive and responsive. Swiping left or right on the home bar feels fluid and very convenient. Even swiping up and holding to open app switcher isn’t as slow as some of the reviews make it out to be. I don’t miss the home button one bit.

Happy to answer any questions. I’m at work now but will try and respond as quickly as possible

Were you able to upgrade to iOS 11.1 or only iOS 11.0.3 on the iPhone X?

Im in Australia too and am in possession of 64GB Space Grey. I’ve been an early adopter since the 4s without fail and am an Apple fan boy if there ever was one!

With the iPX though the honeymoon lasted 30 minutes for me. Once I played with Face ID and, dare I say, Animoji (the only things I saw as potentially swaying me from my current iP8) the novelty, although great tech, wore off quickly and it became apparent that I was not willing to spend an extra $500 on top of the iP8 I currently have, even though I can afford it. It’s each to their own though, in my case I don’t need the better camera, do not need a bigger screen, can live with Touch ID over Face ID and don’t like the chrome finish (I’m OCD and the inevitable micro scratches will do my head in). For those coming from a plus model though there’s no question as to this being a worthy successor.

Is there a real Apple store in Melbourne? I'm picking up my phone in Cleveland, OH tomorrow... then on Saturday am flying to Melbourne where I'll be for 2 weeks. I'm almost certain I'll want to buy accessories for my new phone.

Checked the maps, but it looks like all the apple stores there are 3rd party retailers.

plenty of apple stores around mate, where are you going to be staying?

yes you swipe down from right, its in the control center. it tells you battery percantage, what wifi name your on and i think carrier
Oh thanks! I prefer having it always showing in the corner, but I guess a quick swipe ain't so bad.

I have my black arriving tomorrow. I am a TEENY tiny bit regretting not getting silver. But I will use a case anyway, there are not two ways about that; aside from bump protection I use my phone as my wallet and can never go back to carrying a wallet AND phone.

Since the majority? will be in a case, is colour that important? I swapped my Matte Black 7 Plus for a Jet Black and the back is a mess. Both colours look gorgeous.
