Do the new dynamic wallpapers (the ones they use in their ads) move by themselves during standby? Or do you have to force-touch it like the old iPhones for it to move?

That it looks better in photographs you mean? Kinda essential for the media right?

A Black slab might not look great in photos but I have a hunch in real life its a whole different ball game. Silver lovers might well be SG envious in a few months time.
I thought the silver looked incredibly ugly in pictures. The frame reminds me of kitchen utensils, and its thickness does not help, either. Maybe it will convince me otherwise in person, but I think the grey one looks way better in the pictures.

Incredibly ugly? Not just sort of ugly, but incredibly ugly? o_O

Thanks!

Tom’s Hardware said the blue tint is barely noticeable at an angle compared to the Pixel 2 so some units are probably more pronounced.

Here’s a screenshot from a video showing from left to right, the Pixel 2XL, iPhone X, and Note 8. I think you’ll agree that, at most, the iPhone X is just slightly cooler, but the other two are downright blue.

Its the micro scratches that will just make the chrome untidy, I would be shocked if micro scratches on the SG were even noticeable.

No change or keys in your pocket you naked silver users.

The micro scratches on the stainless bands for the silver iPhone could likely be removed with a Cape Cod cloth. As for the PVD coating on the space gray stainless bands, that will be interesting to see how Durable that is over time.

Force touch

IMO, this makes them 100% pointless.

I have a silver 256gb coming next week but seriously considering cancelling and getting an 8+, my misgivings are as follows:

1 - Face ID - Not the speed necessarily but just the general experience, unlocking when sat on a desk or removing from my pocket, plus I just do not get the need to swipe up too. Also I do not care what Phil S said I think that they absolutely intended on including Touch ID too but could not do it so I think FiD is being spun as a replacement when they planned on doing the logical thing to include both

2 - Screen size - I could be wrong but I think the actual screen area is smaller than the plus iPhones (Diagonal measurements are misleading these days and in every day use you are losing the top area anyway.

3 - Stainless still edges - Other than the odd occasion (usually involving alcohol) I do not use cases so I do fear those edges will end up looking like the back of my old iPod 40gb or classic). They would probably scratch just inserting/removing from a case. Maybe the darker model will be better for this?

4 - Gestures - These look like a step back to me especially the app switcher which looks a little tricky to actually do! No doubt I’d get used to them though.

Lastly that gap under the keyboard would never have made it past SJ, just looks messy. Mind you neither would the same design 4 years running or having to wait almost 4 years for 1 handed keyboard on the plus models.

If they did a 128gb 8+ I think I would have already cancelled so still undecided.

I got the 256 Silver and it’s lovely. After so many years of SG and black it’s nice to have something that feels a little more techy and modern. This thing is ridiculously fast. The gestures are fantastic. It really all does feel like a refreshed system. Anamojies are very intuitive. The screen is of a different class. Think the Cupertino kids have done good

I honestly think you will change your mind on all of the above when you’ve used it for a few hours. It makes the old way seem ridiculous

TL;DR is you don’t like change. The weird thing is, all of that information was known prior to preorders opening up yet you still ordered.

You know how on older iPhones when you set the wallpaper to anything black, or even black only, you could see light a bit...it wasn't true black? Does the OLED fix that?

To be fair the XPhone is tiny in comparison.
Keep in mind both the other phones have chins and foreheads that the X doesn’t.

Also, this wasn’t a size comparison. I posted the pic in response to concerns about the off-axis blue-shift that OLED displays are known for. Apple said they worked hard to mitigate most of the issues of OLEDs, and we can certainly see when it comes to the blue-shift, they were right.

Awesome, happy to hear everyone is loving their X. Can't wait for later today. Apple made some really beautiful color choices this year. You can't go wrong either way.

I seriously cannot decide. They both look great.

Team Grey, convince me why space grey is better. We’ve seen enough silver on the interwebz.

Chrome frame. Not for me. Personal opinion though.

Shipping times are getting shorter. Hopefully you get yours before November 20.
Looks like Apple is screwing its customers in Europe. It's almost Monday and I still see no improvement for my delivery. I think I will cancel my preorder and simply try again next year with the newest iPhone.
