Really? If the phone works 90 percent of the time exactly how it should but 10 percent of the time, no? You'd return in? How about 95 percent of the time?

How about 70 percent of the time.

In other words - at what point does it become a personal issue.

People have different tolerance levels. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can accept why some people don't rush out and return something so quickly just because you want them to.
Then why complain? No one is forcing you to buy or keep an iPhone. There are plenty of choices in the smartphone market...why keep and complain about a phone that only partially does what you need it to do?
I'm afraid I'm not following your logic here...you either like what the phone does or you don't...I don't understand purchasing a phone that only partially does what you want or need it to do and instead of returning the phone and purchasing something that better fills your needs, you keep the phone but complain that it doesn't do what you need it to do...

I'm not complaining about the phone per se. I'm complaining about people who say there's no issue and also about the very well production Apple put on Friday afternoon as a means to act as if they said a lot but said very little.

And like I said - it's about tolerance. Right now - I'm not dropping calls. I keep my phone in a case (and I would have regardless). The phone does most things the way I like. Right now my biggest issues are bugs with the OS that I hope get ironed out. My enjoyment using the phone outweighs my frustration. That's what logic escapes you? Can't I own something. Love it. And still have issues with it?

LOL - if you fail to see that logic, perhaps you're not married ;)

So there we have it...I'm not married...LOL

I'm sorry you didn't like your iPhone 4 and chose to return it, but you exercised one of the options made available to you as an iPhone 4 customer. You should be thrilled that you still have a working 3GS that blows most of the other current smartphones out of the water. I think you're smart for saving your money for the iPhone 5 since the 4 doesn't work for you. You should celebrate that you could at least return the phone and not suffer any restocking fees or other penalties.

I am totally happy with my iP4. I suspect a lot of "fanboys" are upset over this issue because they are defined a little too much by their electronic gadgets. These people take it personally when one of their gadgets may be perceived as defective, and then they get mad because their emotional inadequacies and insecurities prevent them from buying a product which, deep down inside, they really really want. I don't think that's an Apple problem.

Excellent.

You're right. The 3GS has been outstanding over the past year. I almost switched to Droid until these words put it in perspective.

no sarcasm

I own a bb bold 9700 the buttons started falling off I love the phone but it was hard to dial or type missing two buttons. I bought a nexus one loved it but the battery was crap and the android market was weak. So I bought a iPhone 4 and love it. Not once have I felt the need to go crying on a bb or android website. They lost a customer and that's all I can do. So please return the phone, jump on the apple band wagon, or be quiet some of us are enjoying the best phone ever made.

Head into a weak signal area with your 3GS and give it the death grip in your right hand. You'll soon see your bars disappear as well. Does that mean the 3GS is a defective lemon that should be recalled? Why is it that the 3GS, iP4, Blackberry, Win7 and Android phones all experience the same problem yet only the iP4 is defective and Apple owes everyone something? Oh wait, it's because the iP4 has a worse problem than the others... really? Who says? Where is the data? Apple provided data that everyone is up in arms over, but nobody can provide any alternative data that would refute what Apple presented.

Out of everyone complaining here on MacRumors, how many actually own an iP4 and how many of those people can definitively say that they drop calls because of it? All I read around here is FUD.

where to start?(sigh)
Do you own and IP4? your sig says no.
I have already posted that if take off my case my 3GS will go from 5 bars to edge in the so called "death grip"
Who said the IP4 was defective?..it may be flawed..time will tell.
In my post I pointed to very well respected(fair) you tubers who test all phones and do so in hands on video which is well balanced.I guess you were too busy to research that..do you need a link?
I'm sure you do cause you seem a bit lazy..here ya go slacker.

Ok - explain this logic to me. Why can't YOU enjoy YOUR iPhone if other people complain?

Sounds like you only want to permit shiny happy talk about Apple and the iPhone. You do realize that will NEVER happen here, right? My advice to you - enjoy the iPhone like I am - and don't worry about what people are or are not saying. It's not relevant to your enjoyment. Or at least it shouldn't be related. Because if other people making complaints is affecting your enjoyment - it is perhaps you that should take a break from MR. Just a thought.

By the way Falcon I agree 100%.

The real fanboys are the people who claim their phone doesn't work but won't return it.

That is fanaticism and fanboy stature at its highest level.

I knew if my phone didn't work I would not keep it. Only a real fanboy would refuse to return/exchange a broken phone.

Not true I posted about how much I liked the phone and look what happened? These complaining people just live to ruin every thread that talks positive about the phone.

Meaning? I'm enjoying my device and I'm not complaining about people posting on the message board. I'm not complaining about the numerous posts on the subject as others are. I'm capable of enjoying my iPhone4 regardless of what other people think or feel. So I'm not sure what you're saying I should do.

That doesn't mean I can't respond to people posting. Or again - do you also think that MR should only be for people who will ONLY speak positively? Sounds rather boring to me actually.

Get a room, you make me sick like all the refs of the fan boys who actually like big, greedy corporations.

Ya, The nerve of those guys! Wanting to make loads of money selling cool products. The greedy slime-balls!

They don't get dropped calls.

And the "death grip" of the HTC legend and all the other phones is a grip that nobody will ever use, unlike the "death grip" of the iPhone. ;)

Every phone drops calls. The way the videos showed the other phones being held is EXACTLY the same way that the majority of the videos out there show the iPhone being held.

Has their posts diminished the amount you enjoy your iPhone? I would hope not.

And Rule #1 of ANY message board - if you're going to post - be prepared for all sorts of responses that differ from your own. Otherwise - don't post is all I can say LOL.

You don't have to have thick thick skin to "survive" on a message board. But you certainly can't or shouldn't complain if people don't agree with your post.

I don't even know the purpose of the thread because it has veered way off course. I love my iPhone it works for me and i respect it doesn't work for others. I don't feed into the complainers dislike of it because most people who have truly had problems with their Phone wouldn't post continously on MR.

I mean there is nothing that anyone on this board can do to resolve the antenna issue. So if your unhappy with your phone your have a multitude of options to resolve your discord with it.

Are you saying the only way to enjoy your device is to lurk forum threads complaining about the people who complain about people complaining? Not really sure of your circular logic.

How does posting on a message board lower the enjoyment you get from your phone? Or was this post facetious? Hard to tell with people here sometimes.

I don't mind the complaining as long as it's for something meaningful. Like world peace ornsaving the whales. But the complaining is baseless. The iPhone 4 is successful. People complain about everyone trying to order at the exact same time, the shipping service, customer service, and now hardware. other phone companies run out of supply at 200,000 apple shipped 1.7 million on day one.

What about the people complaining about the complainers complaining about the complainers....wait...what?

I don't think it's really people complaining about the complainers. It's more like the complainers attack people who truly did not have issues and accuse of them lying or being fanboys. It's human nature to get defensive when someone is being rude and nasty.

I myself am not going to complain about the complainers because just like a whining child or wimpering dog that your potty training. In order to teach them well you ignore them and eventually they will stop.

I don't let my enjoyment of my phone or anything i buy be contingent on how much someone else likes or dislikes it.

the core "issue" on MR right now is perspective, hyperbole and expectations.

People who have no issue and love their phones simply need to accept that other people either don't like their phones, are dealing with the issue and accept it or are trying to decide WITHOUT making assertions that whatever they are experiencing is invalid OR that the issue is fictional. And perhaps be sympathetic to the frustrations.

People who are having the issue need to recognize that other people have no idea what they are talking about and are frustrated because they feel like they are being attacked for enjoying their phones "as is."

The problem arrises when either "camp" fails to treat their fellow poster in a non egocentric way. Everyone's experience is different. Reasons for owning are different. And usage requirements are different.

Everything else is just hot air.

What about the people complaining about the complainers complaining about the complainers....wait...what?

Complainers should be thrown out the window.

People who complain about complainers should watch from above.

People who complain about the people who complain about complainers should be right behind this group, ready to kick them out.

The people four times removed should be ready to take a running start behind the group in front of them.

And so on and so forth. Pretty easy.

Very well said.

So knowing all this, why exactly do you continue on your crusade? Are you trying to get everyone to understand each other?
